  1. I have a light cream / off-white rug in my room which I think looks fantastic with by shelves and stuff, which are a brighter white. Ugh, it's so hard to visualize what would look good... I definitely want a living room rug, but it'll likely be much larger than my room rug (and also much pricier). Currently experiencing severe decision paralysis because in my head the couch / coffee table / rug / dining set design and color are all contingent on each other, fuck.

I'm sure it would be possible to rig up a decision tree calculator where I could just input all possible colors and favorable color combinations and get the optimal color combinations as an output.... :)

  2. @danxf: I think with user experience being such a big thing these days, and with the leaps in HTML5, CSS3, etc., beautiful is a perfectly appropriate word. Maybe it's not fine art but I don't think there's any denying that parallax scrolling, moving backgrounds, etc. are much more aesthetically pleasing than Web 1.0 Geocities pages with blue underlined hyperlinks.

@scientifick: damn what an attention whore... also, fuck free to pay imo. I'd rather have features and look @ a few ads once in a while, some of which might actually be damn relevant to me because of targeting...

  3. ^ I've heard good things about the vario, but not sure if it's worth double the price of the virtuoso when you can just buy a kitchen scale. Still, like you I have a Hario, which from my experience produces adequately uniform grinds, and my personal opinion is that the Hario + a kitchen scale does everything a casual drinker would want a fancy grinder to do. Also, I enjoy the morning routine of hand grinding coffee while catching up on news on my computer.

I'll leave the question regarding fines to someone more experienced, but from what I've read eliminating fines results in a "cleaner" cup of coffee which in itself isn't necessarily always a good thing. What problems are you having with flavor?

  4. To me at least each of twitter, instragram, etc. filled a distinct market space when launched. One of the many problems of G+ was that in addition to their absurdly stupid rollout, it literally does not do anything Facebook doesn't. Every new innovation they had (circles, etc.) were immediately and instantly replicated by Facebook causing G+ to lose any incremental value it had over Facebook. While I'll admit I haven't explored ello very much it looks like the bastard child of tumblr and twitter, with a UX shameless jacked from medium. I'd be interested in your thoughts as an actual user though

I feel like I heard all these arguments when twitter, instagram, tumblr and FB launched too.

    I don't think it's "some lame shit"...maybe it'll fizzle out, maybe it'll become a thing.

I do like that they aren't data mining or allowing advertising, I doubt that's really sustainable tho. Interested to see where it goes.

    either way, if you're on:

  5. Was ambivalent about posting this because it almost seems like biting... not trying to lift ideas from EG562 but my mind was legitimately blown when I realized what his avatar was. I liked the visual style so I made this for myself, working my initials (TH) into the Chinese character for my last name (黃). Really like your work btw!

  6. it's the long black socks that try to replicate the height of dunks and the dunks style wraparound lacing that elevate this to ultra cheap guy status for me. I think I would have liked this a lot more without the attempt at imitation which just strikes me as super contrived.

shoulda just worn ro dunks already. In the remote chance that u somehow thought the chucks or that kinda sneak silhouette made sense here, u shoulda known that there are more appropriate alternatives. In the context of this fit they just conjure imagery of a budget ro fan or cheap guy

  7. Last call for my tan suede patricians in size 10, I've been very infrequently wearing them to the point where they're really not 'like new' any more, and they've stretched to maybe a 10.25 which is fine for me. If anyone wants them for maybe ballpark $275 I'll let them go, if not I'll take them off the market.

Homemade salmon sashimi; texture was a little off, might be better if I flash froze with dry ice instead of using the freezer.

...but no one can tell how ugly they are after cooking! (hot oil = soy sauce, red chili oil, cilantro, and some grated garlic)
