  1. A question on exposed rivets (front pocket, coin pocket, etc..): I have a sugarcane 47 with the fabric beneath the rivets showing above the hole while I also have a 66 model from another brand where the rivets are clean, like newer Levi's jeans. Anyone know the differences in  the process between the two time periods? I assume in the 47 pair the machines just punched through with the rivet while in the 66 pair the hole was made prior to attaching using a rivet. Am I mistaken?

  2. What sort of shrinkage and stretching would I expect with the D66? The one I received is a little tight on the waist but the length is about 3 inches longer and a bit wider than I prefer pre-soak. Basically i want max shrinkage everywhere except the waist. Do I hot soak and then just wear them damp? or just deal with the initial tightness after soaking?

  3. @chazychaz- i will email them. do they reply to english speaking customers?

by the way, anyone knows what jeans the wrong patch should have been used for? I know the '55 and '66 are made in USA but the patches for those look entirely different.

  4. i just bought a pair of sc42009n (unwashed) from take5 in hk. i noticed that the leather tag states 'made in usa' in the area which should say or previously said 'toughest denim'. i guess this is a recent change? i can take pics when i get home later this week

Update: I went back to Take 5 and asked about my pair and I'm positive I got a pair with a 'mistake'. The staff didn't seem to know about the specific details and just said some canes are made US while some are made in Japan. I inspected the other 2009 pairs and all had the "toughest denim" in the patch where mine has "made in usa". Anyway, i think it is a really cool mistake so I'm actually pretty happy that I got the only pair there with that 'problem'. Anyway, some post soak pics of the details of the pants:

  6. @no-svg and Paul T- Thanks for the information. I guess the denim source will remain a mystery but the jeans are nice so I guess that's all that matters. I'll be going to HK next week so maybe I can find some Edwin made ones to compare.

  7. I bought this pair from the 'european collection' section of a Lee store in Vietnam where the selection was pretty thin. I remember also seeing what seems to be one-washed Lee 101Z (too soft), some other washed/distressed 101 models and a few shirts and belts. Since this is made in Turkey, Its probably safe to assume that the fabric would be Turkish as well, or no? Also, any idea on the shiny knees and butt area?

  8. @Paul T- That is nice to know, thanks for that. I thought I read somewhere that Lee was sourcing denim for the 101 line either from Japan or Poland or Italy like nudies. Is Right hand twill common with the 101 line?

  9. 3 month old Made in turkey Lee 101S worn 5-6 times a week. RHT with 5 belt loops.

Anyone have an idea as to why the knees are shiny? Wear is coming in very slowly with these even if these were like cardboard when new. Also, is the denim polish or japanese?

  10. Is the 101S not a reproduction? The tags in the back pocket of my jeans just indicated "the original slim rider jean" and I can't find a year. Also, the pants I bought are made in Turkey. Anyone have an idea where the denim is sourced from?

@ Oxymoron- I bought a 101S two weeks ago but I don't own a camera so I can't get you fit pics. Anyway, the waist is over sized by maybe an inch. I usually wear size 32 in most brands but for the 101s I got size 31. Also, a couple of wears and the waist has stretched a lot although I don't think I could have gone to a 30 because the thigh/legs are already very slim for my preference. Lastly, the pants are heavily starched and the fly of my pants already have dents from the buttons.
