  1. Cheers for the options/expertise.

Looked through the others, but RMC just seems to get the details right.

Also seems to fit a bit better than Two Moon/Warehouse etc for my tastes - others look a bit too short and tight on the waist.

I don't think I'll wear it particularly hard, so will just go for it and repair as I need to..

  2. Compared at least 3 sites before buying, didn't look at Japanese ones though.

Very confusing sizing system to start with, being inches undersized.

Having minor increments in waist/length seems great, but not when the 'variance' can essentially push you up/down a size...

Wouldn't be expected in similarly priced tailored trousers. Just feels like too much effort - I'm personally out until I can go and try them on in a shop!

"Official" length for the L34 in one-wash is 81 cm so your 82 cm are not too far off and I think that's in the expected variation.

    Thanks again for your help.

I didn't know there were official measurements.

Going off Frans Boone and Beige's measurements, these are around an inch longer than what those stores have taken as an average. To be honest, even the waist is smaller by a couple of cm than most other measurements I've seen too.

Not the variance I'd expect from a brand offering so many inseam lengths, and focusing on an almost tailored look.

Sending my ones back, may try again when other places re-stock.

  4. Thanks @propellerbeanie! Actually looks pretty spot on.

I think mine are abnormally long for a 34 leg anyway: 82cm is longer than I've seen on any size chart.

Hopefully the actual measurements of the 33/34 pair Beige have in stock will be a bit shorter.

If not, any recommendations for EU stores stocking 33/33 would be great.

Jinji have them, but charge more for the jeans, plus don't offer free shipping either. Ends up costing €35 more.

  5. Thanks guys.

Looking back at the pics, I think they look a bit big in the waist?

Looking for a fit somewhere in between mine and unionmade's above!

@Collin you say not to size down in the waist in your first reply, then to size down in your second!

I've asked for actual measurements of 33/32 and 33/34 at Beige, and hope that they work for an exchange.

I would like to support Beige as I always appreciate their stock selection, and their service has been amazing: a package got to me in London from Paris in less than 24h!

If not, if someone can recommend a UK (or EU) stockist of 33/33 or 34/33, that'd be amazing.

  6. Great thread. Made the plunge after 3-4 years in orslow.

    Fit check and help pls!

    These are a 34/34.

Anyone think I could get away with a 33/33? 34 feel snug on waist and hips, but not overly tight...

Measurements on inseam from Beige Habeilleur were 3cm different (shorter) than what I received, sadly.

Will these shrink overall with washing though, particularly length? Plan to wash monthly.

  7. Congrats William.

@Aries - London stockists seem to be sparse right now, used to have Goodhood/Numbersix in East but they no longer do... Seems that Superdenim in York and Peggs&Sons in Brighton are the best UK stockists (although not much help at all if you're in London)

Talking of tees, I'm passing on my gorgeous Woad type 351 in size 3.

Sadly I've gotten a bit too into cooking recently and it no longer fits.

From S/S'11 I believe, I bought it from Numbersix. It's fantastic condition. More info in the auction which goes live today at 19:30 GMT right here

Also I just took some pictures of my unborn 129s.

Washed once, worn for about 7-8-ish months now, due for their 2nd wash after muddy Glastonbury festival at the end of this month...

  8. Levis had 2 factories in Scotland up until the very late 90s/early 2000s

Cheers for that! Had absolutely no idea until I got these.

Going by the dates on the branding, looks like they were made in the 80s at some point...

I've e-mailed the Levi's historian who'll hopefully be able to shed some more light!

  9. Thought I'd contribute with an unbiased review too...

Bought from the189, never had such fantastic service, cannot recommend the store highly enough.

Had the Unborn 129s for about 5 months now.

    Negatives:

    > Cotton stitching. I'm not sure I personally (personally!) agree that the cotton stitching is worth it. My experiences with the stitching have been pretty bad. Have had to repair stitching twice around the fly buttons, as well as the outer seam by the pocket on both sides. Not sure the stitching is an area that I want to see an evolution in wear, it's a shame that the stitching is the weak link in what is otherwise a ridiculously hardwearing item.

    > Advice in this thread on sizing/shrinking of unsanf jeans (sorry!). Nowhere near the 2" shrinking advertised. I would say to new buyers that if the unborn jeans fit spot on (or even a bit tight) unwashed on the waist, they will be perfect for you in the long run. The jeans will shrink about an inch and be uncomfortable for a day, and within 2 weeks will have stretched back out to the pre-wash waist (probably further). This is recommended buying method for other heavyweight denim (see Ironheart forums etc).

    >Pockets too long for modern use. I'd say front pockets need to be a good inch shorter (maybe more!) to make them easily useable, reaching into them is a real chore, have ripped outer seam whilst trying to get out change I've absent-mindedly thrown in there.

    > Chainstitching on waistband but not on hems? Pretty sure I read that the hems were "double-rolled and chainstitched for extra roping" - hems weren't chainstitched but lower waistband was? Not sure if I'm misremembering or misread somewhere. Had the hems chainstitched myself anyway, they look so much better with a bit of roping!

Positives: Lots more than the negatives. Fantastic denim (so hairy!), exposed rivets (domed) that look fantastic with age and don't ruin furniture, 2 button fly (maintains modesty perfectly, easier to open up when you need...no idea why some jeans have 5 button flys), snob's thumb pocket (never used it at all but love it), front pocket opening and selvedge strengthening - looking great the more they're worn, lining in back pockets getting so soft with wear too, top button is so great.....

All in all really really happy with my purchase, full of character and fantastic features, and more than happy to put up with the slight negatives to buy into William's brand and ethos (can't think of a better term for ethos, I hate the word ethos). Once these are dead, I'll be buying some woad dyed 129s for sure.

  10. Got the Unborn 129s, I've boiling soaked them in a tub twice for 2 hours each time and they've barely changed, half an inch in the waist and length maybe? Scalding hot water topped up with a kettle every half hour.

I ordered 2 sizes and went for the size that left me a little room rather than the one that fit spot on given the advice here, wish I'd stuck with the size down as these won't even stay up without a belt.

I've contacted the seller to see if we can come to an arrangement given that the 'washed' sizes supplied on the site are drastically different from those that are achieved, but I feel like a huge dick doing so.

Money down the drain, and they were a pretty big investment for me.

Anyone with a true 36" waist that wants some brand new post-soak 129s, please get in touch.

  11. Hi,

Question about your unborn jeans: if the waist fits snug-ish before an initial soak, after the subsequent shrink, then the inevitable stretch with wear, will they fit similarly in the waist as when they were raw?

Or will they shrink far beyond the point where they can be stretched out again with wear?

I'm a 32 waist, so not sure whether to go with a 2 or 3....

    Thanks!
