  1. I never started going to a barber shop until last year either.

Seems like to me that it's better to find a girl you know that works in a salon for longer cuts and the barber shops better for anything that is buzzed, both can do anything really but barber shops tend to result in cleaner, shorter cuts for me at least

  2. Just go have it done there. I'm pretty sure all barbers have to be certified to legally work at a shop.

The dudes who cut my hair live out in the fucking sticks here in MO, not too far outside a college town but I can be on some roads that some would call the middle of nowhere in like 20 minutes, just how it is around here. I would guess that they don't share a similar perspective regarding personal style compared to myself but they still know how to do a damn good fade.

It's about knowing what to ask for, not the barber shop you go to. Sure execution comes into play but like I said, they're all licensed professionals, some will be better than others but what I'm saying is that you can get a faded side part at any barber shop. It looking how you had in mind depends on how you communicate to them how you would like your hair to be cut.

  3. If you're talking about those green pants, those are new ones I got about 2 months ago in a larger size. I've been weeding out my closet a lot lately, stopped wearing button ups and ties so much. I don't know about the tight t shirts thing, lately I've just been wearing a lot of classic fitting t's mostly white.

I try to get classic styles rather than 'what's cool at the moment', just need to get a job again so I can start adding new things, this time trying to hold out for nicer pieces, which I've done here and there on somethings but at 18 it's hard to afford everything you want so I do what I can.

Appreciate the advice though, I mean it's all preference, like the hats, but other opinions are helpful in gaining new perspective.

  4. My dumbass bought these over winter break, finally getting to wear them more, so comfortable.

Glad I didn't get another pair of authentics...

    EDIT

Took ninetynines advice, loosened up the one on the left in the pictures, left the one on the right how it was, thanks for the tip.

Didn't even realize lacing them like that made it look goofy, it's just so comfortable to bury your foot in the 1/2 inch comfort soles. The eyelets are like a half inch farther apart now.

  5. i think your hair looks like that when youre a kid cause its so thin/fine.

also babies are usually always cute so they can make any hairstyle look good.

For sure, pretty much got that, I just want it back.

Right now it's actually kind of similar to that if I part it, it's just way thicker and shorter on the sides now, the top looks longer in that picture but it's close. Now my hair is slightly wavy, dark brown and the thickness is on some levels. I'm not complaining, what I have now is basically ideal hair for anyone, just little kid hair rules.

Got a skin fade last Thursday and since it's grown out a bit it's one of my favorite cuts I've had in a while, maybe ever. Been getting skin fades for like the past 8 months now, saw 'The Tree of Life' and I had to have a haircut like Pitt sports in that movie, I think buzzed sides suit my head shape well when the sides and back are left full to add girth to my tall skinny head, it's not weird tall/skinny, just the weight up top works better for me. Used to get a part cut in, keep it even on both sides now, can part it if I want still.

Got the top flattened out in back and left it longer towards the front last week, that was the first time the top was touched since I buzzed it all off in Jan. Going for a James Dean-esqe style, pretty confident that this one will grow out to be something pretty close to what he had.

Was skinned on the sides last week, almost a 2 now or so, my hair grows scary fast so I'll find out soon enough if it's what I'm going for, I'll need to cut it again once it's long but I'm trying to get it as long as I can before that happens.

Top picture is from minutes ago, bottom is from late Oct, one of the last cuts before I buzzed it all off, about as long as it ever got with that parted fade I kept for so long.

  6. cool.

Just cut my hair, wolverine no more. Went high and tight this time.

I got a low skin fade a a few weeks ago before this last one and mine was somewhere along the lines of spider man news boss J. Jonah Jameson, not a straight up flat top but close. I usually ask to leave it full up through the sides though.

Here's my grandma and me when I was like 4. I think it'd be pretty cool if I could get my hair back to this again. It's not that color anymore though.

  7. Yesterday, boring and simple but recently since these have softened up more, dropped them down to a single cuff vs the 2 - 3 cuffs I used to wear them at, going to keep them like this regardless from now on.

Had em about 10 weeks now, still getting used to this looser straight cut. I'm used to much slimmer cut pants and these always throw me off still when I don't wear them for a few days as they're still relatively new, starting to get some light fading in the whiskers at the bottom of the front rise though.

  8. these look amazing mate, how do you find the soles? do you have a picture of them so we can see the wear on them?

    cheers

Wanted to see some sole wear on Iron Rangers, here's some shots I just took, I like documenting how they've aged so I don't mind doing it. Tried to get the angles to give an accurate idea of what's worn away and not skew the proportions to make it look like less/more than what's there. Also included a picture of my attempt at a sort of dorm room studio lighting setup to really bring out the details.

Got these in the mail on 6-19-12 so I've had them just about 8 months now, bought used on ebay in basically new condition for ~$100 off, I scored big time on these. Here is condition when I got them, you can hardly even tell they were worn. Usually wear 4-5 times a week ever since, lots of walking between classes and whatnot, mink/saddle once a month, sometimes more often than that even, I've seen some black pairs that get really wrinkly and I think the frequent treatment helps mine stay smooth and supple.

    And here they are today:

Haven't treated with anything for a couple weeks, the snow today just made them nice and clean. Mostly just the heels are worn down, the front is just softer really besides the thread that's worn down. The outside of the heels is a bit more worn than the inside it seems.

  9. Saw some old guy who got his car stuck in the snow today parked on campus so I started to try and help push him out. No one else was around so I asked the only other guy around for a little help.

It wasn't going anywhere so we stopped for a second and as I'm asking the man if he's got anything in his car I can use to dig around his wheels the shit weasel I asked to help just walked away slowly/awkwardly.

I didn't say anything to him and I got the dudes car out myself but that shit pissed me off. Sure he didn't have to help but I still think he's a jackass.

  10. kansas - Yes, go to Mizzou, no couldn't care less about the sports. I hate the events, the town just floods with tons of people who look the same and it sucks to go anywhere.

I can see where you're both coming from there, it definitely is more of a formal coat than your typical peacoat, I wear ties with sweaters/cardigans with it a lot. But with slacks, ties and jeans don't happen in my book.

I would never wear my Allen Edmonds with denim but that's just me. Maybe with a slimmer cut but it just seems like those shouldn't go together. Also those AEs with that flannel would make me look like a dingus as it's basically a safari shirt.

I've been wanting some new gloves but those were cheap are made by 3M and I like 3M stuff and I need gloves cause it's cold. And of course I always take my hat off in most situations when I go indoors, just threw it on to take a picture before I left.
