dear SuFu
i'm just trying to clarify the confusion between Japan Blue and Momotaro. (i think Rubyblue can explain it better than me but hey i'll keep it short).
Momotaro and Japan Blue are completely 2 separated brands even though they're under the same company and they have their "collaboration" jeans like NFxMomotaro or KikstyoxMomotaro. i know it's been confusing since both brands are not brought up by the way they should be. apparently they have their own characteristics.
After i came to Capsule show in Paris few weeks ago, i got a chance to see, touch and feel the Japan Blue jeans myself. I also talked to Japan Blue Momotaro crews and discussed with Rubyblue, all I can say that the jeans are completely different in terms of fit, material and specification.
(sorry i have to repost the pictures again)
Japan Blue (JB0701, JB0703, JB0101)
IMO those 3 jeans represent the Japan Blue itself even though they still use "peach boy" patch, the rest is 100% Japan Blue (fabric, detail, flasher and even the lot says JB)
Momotaro specification on 0700SP and 0100SP
these 2 are more like "collaboration" jeans as you can see the Momotaro GTB specification (button, patch, battle stripes, rivets, flasher) on these jeans except the material and fit. the lot name is also adopted from Momotaro GTB label (0705SP, tight straight). concerning the fits, 0700SP is slightly tapered than 0705SP and 0100SP is tighter and more tapered than 0700SP (that's why they call it skinny straight)
In general, Japan Blue also has more/less the same rigid/stiff feeling and dark indigo as Momotaro does but the way they produce their jeans is different. Japan Blue is produced in more modern techniques, modern machinery, higher output production than Momotaro which keeps the vintage way (sewing techniques, specifications).
Both are great jeans but attract different audience. For Momotaro lovers, they'll stick to vintage feel of Momotaro where as Japan Blue is more commercial in terms of price as they will compete with those jeans made in China etc etc... (trust me, with the same price you'll get way better quality )
Hopefully i explained it right, if i said something wrong please correct me.
cheers

^no, it's not his clothing line... it's only a tee designed by Laurent Ribet for Brain Magazine because of Thom's inspirational lotus dance.

i was invited by my photographer friend to visit his new studio that was partly renovated on sunday. he showed me around and it was such mess here and there. once he asked me whether i wanted to help him with his portfolio and i said yes, so i brought my wardrobe for him to shoot. Technically he's a good photographer but he a bit lacks of creativity. it was up to me now, i had to direct him with my very minimal knowledge of fashion photography.
first thing first was the test shot of what i am wearing today
then it came to more difficult part where i should change and style on my own.
well, the result was not that bad huh? i was pretty happy since he captured the essence of Rick Owens and my weekend jeans which are 666sod

my 5.5 month NFxMomotaro and i'm wearing Momotaro tee and Peony Label (the first ladies label of Momotaro)
if you're wondering how the fit looks like, here i took the measurement of my size 28 Peony Label
size 28 is measured
waist: 28″
rise: 10″
thigh: 10″
leg opening: 7.8″
inseam: 32″
The jeans have a more loose fit in comparison to the current Straight Leg jeans for women. I really like the vintage style and different elements in the jeans. A flash from the past. “Back in the day†that is few years ago, Momotaro Jeans’ Ladies’ Line was called Peony Label. The label featured ladies’ jeans that use similar fabric as the current Ladies’ Line but distinctive features such as different waist patch and yellow and pink Copper Label stitching on the right back pocket.
Today the Ladies’ Line is divided into Ladies’ Going To Battle Label with pink Japan lines and Ladies’ Copper Label with the same tobacco stitching as with men’s Copper Label.

for weird guy sizing i think you can go TTS but i know some people also do sizedown 1.
FYI, there will be more NF collaborations and this time they pick the weird guy fit.
ONIxNaked&Famous(weird guy fit) is coming soon.... here i snapped Bahzad's ONIxNF fit at the capsule show last weekend
and the second collaboration with Momotaro, also weird guy fit. the fabric is slightly different than the first one. instead of red selvage, they have pink selvage.
the rest of NF collection 2012 are just awesome, they are getting more creative each time.
