thanks gav and ruedi. they've been worn religiously over the past two years. i may not have that outdoor lifestyle that cander has but still i try my best..
I think they look better than mine. I wore mine too hard and now they don't have the contrast that yours does! I'm glad we're not in the same category also.

Fantastic work, Louis. I think those are the most impressive pair in the super heavy category.

Cool stuff. I'm surprised at how few people have posted final submissions so far though. Is there another forum on which people are posting final entries?

Wow. Those jeans look fantastic. Great work!

I believe you that ha ha.
But we won't have you killed already ha ha.
Because the raw denim community need your legs for more hardcore fading work to show the power of natural denim evolution at its best and keeping the raw denim spirit alive that way.
And you know that it would be an honor to display such incredible broken in items at the Jeansmuseum for some weeks or for ever at any time
Sure thing! I might want to keep them as ski and hike jeans for the future so I can beat them up without looking unprofessional, so lending them sounds ideal!
Holy shit. Forget the contest, Cander wins at having the best last two years.
Haha. Thanks!

Progress of the back over time 2:
I'm glad to have participated with so many cool competitors. I ended up taking a lot more pictures than I might otherwise have done, so this contest really helped me log everything that I did over the last 2 years. Good stuff. Thanks to the judges for taking the time to look over everyone's jeans!

cander49 Your pants could go through the last man standing contest now to break them in even more!!
Hahahaha. My fiancee would kill me if I did that. I'm itching to wear my Oni secret denim anyway!

Repairs!!! Forgot to show this originally, so I'm adding it here to avoid making another post. I counted 29 total repairs to the jeans, but I'm sure I'm missing at least one or two. Some are really subtle, while others are much more obvious.

That time when my left front pocket fell off. This wasn't really machine workable with our machine at this point, so it was handstitched back on, which took forever.
Subtle stitch reattachment, although it blew out again and I didn't bother to fix it the 2nd time:
Ran out of blue thread. Haha:
There are 9 separate repairs visible in this photo, if you know where to look:

Fit pics over time. It took a couple months for them to break in enough to look good worn, but I really liked how they fit for most of the time:

Final pics of the jeans themselves. They were probably more of the typically desired "jawnz" status after somewhere between 12 and 18 months, when they hit max contrast. I've worn them so hard that, at this point, there's just almost no indigo left to show the contrast they originally had. That said, I'm really happy that I managed to stick to these so far past the typical point that people wear denim. I should thank my wonderful fiancee for repairing them in about 2 dozen different ways between months 12 and 18, or they might not have made it the full term.

Final submission! It's been a great two years! I got engaged, traveled all over the US and to Africa, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, the world's tallest freestanding mountain at 5895 meters (every step in these jeans), hiked a bunch of other mountains, skied over 100 times (every time in these jeans), went for runs in the jeans a couple dozen times when I didn't have shorts handy, and completed the vast majority of my PhD, despite looking ridiculously unprofessional over the past few months with my underwear showing through the rips on the thighs. Haha.
Looking back over the 2 years, what's most striking to me about the jeans now is just how little indigo is left, despite only 16 washes, all either by hand or on a gentle wash (all but 1 or 2 with woolite). I went out of my way to not artificially remove indigo by washing, but it's gone from all of this wear anyway. One other thing to keep in mind is that I really worked hard to keep these from falling apart with frequent repairs until ~4 months to go, when I gave up on that, so all of the tearing is just from a few months. Final fit pics part 1:

Will do. Sounds good!

Thanks. I just hope they're not judged poorly for their lack of contrast at the end. They're just past the point in their life that they have enough indigo left to have any contrast. Haha.

Apologies for clumsy fingers neg cander. Meant to hit green.
Haha. It's all good. My fiancee says you just negged it because you didn't like her non-repro denim in the last photo of the post.

Ok, I think that's enough photos from me. It's been a wonderful two years for me. I wore my jeans hard, and had a lot of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. I got engaged, traveled a ton - all over the country and to Africa - successfully climbed 5895 meter high Mount Kilimanjaro, built a bunch of furniture, ran a new personal best in the marathon (2:42) and half marathon (1:15 fair course, 1:10 very downhill course), and completed the hardest/biggest portion of my PhD, which I wrote up over the past couple months and submitted for publication this past week. Time for the judges to make their decisions! Thanks Mega for putting this on!

WTB: Dior or similar solid white dress shirt, size 39
in supermarket
Posted
I need a formal solid white dress shirt in 39. It doesn't have to be new, as long as it's in good shape. Ideal features would include no logos (a very small one that isn't visible when a jacket is worn over it could be OK, although this is less desirable), a placket over the buttons (not necessary, but preferable), and a slim point collar without buttons (will not consider one with buttons). This one on LVR would be perfect if only it didn't have buttons on the collar: http://www.luisaviaroma.com/index.aspx?#ItemSrv.ashx|SeasonId=57I&CollectionId=06V&ItemId=38&VendorColorId=MDAw0&SeasonMemoCode=actual&GenderMemoCode=men&Language=&CountryId=&SubLineMemoCode=clothing&CategoryId=10&ItemResponse=&MenuResponse=&SizeChart=false&ItemTag=true&NoContext=false A Dior Homme size 39 dress shirt is a perfect fit for me for what I want, but I'll consider any brand that fits similarly and I'll pay a fair price. Thanks!
