  1. For Japanese book stores, there are two that are pretty close to each other you should check out. Kinokuniya by Bryant Park is really cool...Lots of magazines (including Lightning, Free&Easy, etc.), books, music, manga, etc. as well as stationary/pens/pencils and cool toys...and there's a little cafe on the top floor. Then a few blocks away on 45th street (off 6th Ave I believe) there's Book Off...which I like because there's a lot of used books, magazines, and music and video games...I've found some amazing and some hard to find music for dirt cheap. A huge manga section in the basement with a dollar section of used manga, if you're into that. They have American stuff as well as Japanese.

    Hope I helped..

  2. Wow, I just read through this whole thread. One of the most informative threads I've seen here. And probably the most amazing. I want a pair of kuniyoshi-san jeans so bad! Hopefully he's still making custom jeans like this in a few years when I have the money saved up for them. I have to say, the amount of attention to detail and pure perfection of construction, as well as the kind of modern twist (as far as aesthetic details goes) to classic styling, makes these jeans the most beautiful I've seen ever.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. About to rep where rep is due.

  3. Yeah, it's hideous ;)

Well, you were right....didn't come as I expected...haha.

I feel like I'd be able to make it work though, probably as a layer. Or just to wear around the house with a cup of hot tea...

  4. Cool. Really cool. But all of these super exclusive ROY contests and world tours are starting to become the ROY clique. Cult. Gang. Whatever you guys call it... and I want in

    This.

I swear if I'm not in the next ROY event...I'm gonna...I'm gonna......well I'll prolly just cry myself to sleep.

edit: I just noticed the rainbow selvage.....WTF!?!?!?! That's crazy. But not interested in the pot'o'gold at the end of that rainbow...That's for sure. haha.

    edit:

WOAHOHOOOAAAHHHHH DOUBLE RAINBOW ALL THE WAY...ITS STARTING TO ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE A QUADRUPLE RAINBOW! WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!

  5. So, you people here probably get asked this a lot, but I'm too lazy to read through almost 700 pages of this thread...

But I'm going to Tokyo for the first time (Asia for the first time) in January. Will be there for about a month for a study abroad program. I just want to know some fun/cool/interesting things to do while I'm there. Anything music related is cool(any jazz clubs/venues?), FOOD, toys/electronics...pretty much anything cool. And cool places to explore things myself....as well as some nice picture-esque places to visit.

I'll be staying in the Yoyogi area? Anything happen around there?

I also want to bring back some nice stuff (not crappy souvenir shop stuff) for my family...any recommendations?

This ended up being a really long, multiple-part question...but any help would be so much appreciated. I wanna have some idea of what to do when I'm there, so yeah.
