  1. Big box is hella expensive in the UK :(

Really? It's around $50 in most places I'm seeing. It's probably shipping costs. It is actually a pretty large box.

I tried to teach my Carcassonne friends Puerto Rico one day, but I started reading them the rules for each phase and couldn't finish. We were already too well stoned & drunk to make it though them. I've played it with other people though and it's fun. You just have to play it a few times to get it down properly.

  2. Any recommendations on Carcasonne expansions? There seems to be a million of them and I can't make up my mind.

I haven't bought anything extra ouside of the big box, but the ones that are usually always included when I play are Inns & Cathedrals, Abbey & Mayor and Traders & Builders. I think the only one that the main box includes is The River, which I often don't use.

  3. I used to play Catan with a group of friends where I used to live, but then I got Carcassone in the bix box with all the expansions and that pretty much took over. It's a simple concept but strategy can go deep, especially with added expansions. If you get it I'd def. recommend getting more than the base game. The "big box" is released every few years and is usually available on ebay.

  4. I use vinyl turntables with a scratch box & traktor, but I bought my equipment before digital mixing existed except for early junky CD tables. If I were starting now, I'd probably use a laptop and some sort of midi controller. Quality turntables and DJ mixers are very expensive in comparison and are pointless unless you plan on collecting vinyl. I've got a buddy with the controller in that video and it seems super solid, but for basic mixing you don't need anything near that complicated. A friend of mine used to just use one of these cheap m-audio controllers, which has enough keys and knobs to map to everything you need.

  5. Still waiting on my Sanrenmu 704... I should have ordered a few more if I had known shipping would be this painful hah!

It looks like you can get that model and tons of other Sanrenmu models on this site. Likely cheaper shipping. Some nice looking stuff. I suppose you can't necessarily expect the same quality in all the other models, but at the price they charge it's not much of a risk.

  6. Solid mix man. Who cares if you play the same track as someone else, or don't keep up with the new hot tracks. As long as your tracks are good people will be into it. I would imagine most of the people you give it to wouldn't have heard any of it before anyways. I guess unless you only hang out with and share music with other DJs who play your style.

  7. i see a lot of horrible cheap ass ghetto jeans all over

LOL, you don't take the MARTA train in Atlanta every day. Good lord people wear some obnoxious looking ghetto shit.

The only time I've seen others wearing selvedge was a couple times in my apartment building. Didn't know what they were though, and didn't ask.

  8. I've been looking for a full plate style belt buckle since getting my new belt and found a well worn vintage Kenneth Reid buckle that I liked recently, made from 3 types of wood, turquoise & brass.

I know when I see this style of buckles on here they're usually all metal, but I'm a big fan of wood. I also found a guy that will make custom plain wood buckles in various shapes from about 30 different types of wood. I may order one sometime soon.

He has pre-made ones you can order immediately at this link.

I'm also thinking about getting one of his 3 layer rings made. He offers the same many of the same woods in any configuration you want.

  9. I'm really digging my standard belt in natural/brass that i got about a month ago. i rubbed some skidmores cream into it and it looks super nice. my only gripe is that it appears that the new tanner stamped snaps are not actually brass, but just plated. it's already wearing off where it rubs on a belt loop. It looks like the old style rounded snaps in kinzie's above photos were legit and have a nice patina. i realize that they only specified in the description that the buckle was brass and didn't mention the snaps, but it's still a little disappointing since I swapped my buckle out anyway.

  10. Uh, this is loosely related, but if anyone was interested in making a terrarium like the ones I posted a few pages back, I just finished a tutorial.

Apologies for the very bland picture/banner thing for it, though. Was never too good with graphic design…

Thanks man. I read about you doing this before and looked into it a bit. I think I'll actually give it a try now. I used to keep a bonsai, but then I got a cat and I couldn't keep him from chewing on it. That combined with moving into a poorly lit appartment for a year eventually caused it to die. I think keeping these in taller vessels like your drinking glass would stop him from getting to them.

  11. yeah, i guess having inconsistent brightness ramping is a result of this analog voltage system and having it be determined by twisting rather than a button. I've seen another video where the action was smoother. Brass threads should also be smoother so twisting won't be as jumpy. Though, with a circuit and a button you know what brightness level you're going to get every time.

    I'm still getting one though.

  12. Bomb proof. No circuits or moving parts to break or sap energy. Not concerned that it's not a new or fancy light/company. I live in the city and need to find things that are dropped in dark bars. I don't need programmed flash sequences. Also, brass is classy.

Lozinski, they already have a few models upgraded, such as the Eiger (AAA) and Logan (CR123). They're at the same store. They also have their own sub-forum on the candle power forums.

  13. Hahaha.

Ok. It's just the new QTC update for their AA light in brass. As far as I know no one else makes their lights from solid brass or uses QTC technology.

You can get the current non QTC models now, but they're fixed brightness. That's what I meant by not seeing anyone else with one. They've been out for a long time. I'm just waiting on the new version with adjustable brightness.
