  1. is there a good repro of the BIG E era (as in 60s post-XX, pre-66)? to me it’s the best balance of construction, texture etc… i like the somewhat denser stitching and the way it puckers.

is there some reason even the best japanese reproductions are rarely (if ever) as dark and uniform as actual deadstock 50s/60s levis? TCB 50s are remarkably accurate once faded but it’s nowhere close to as dark as vtg starting out.

  2. the old 0105 and 1101 were good fits for me, but the new measurements seem like they have an enormous back rise (like 18” for a w34)? i’ve gone down 2+ inches in waist so maybe those won’t give me crazy diaper butt, but wondering if there are any newer cuts?

junky style had a nice looking (exclusive?) actual-501-ish cut a year or two ago but only a 36 left.

  3. anyone interested in brand new (not hemmed) pair of w36 1946 1003xx? (from last season not the newest release, same new ww2 denim w/ a few different details).

was going to get them tapered a little (leg opening just a bit too big for me), but it seems like a shame so i’ll just get a pair of 1101 or 51 DD-1001.

  4. maybe some retailer can get full count to make a cut like the 1108/(old)1101 with bigger thighs and hips (eg closer to 13 instead of 12 inch thighs). i love the 13.7oz fabric enough that i’m still wearing my pair of 1108s because a better cut doesn’t exist in their current lineup (who can pull off an 18” back rise??). i doubt the arcs/tabs are ever coming back (why they wouldn’t in japan is beyond me), but full count’s “flagship” denim is a bonafide classic and i don’t want this to be my last pair in it.

(i actually just managed to buy a pair of the 1946 denim so i’m looking forward to getting those in the mail... new denim, banner denim, or even the 12oz “2nd-hand” denim that has only been used in one-wash state a few times would all be great)

  6. a 50s cut that would stay closer to 8.2-8.5inch opening after a shorter hem would be fantastic. maybe a very slight reduction in rise (hopefully not much shorter - eg. sz34 FR 11.5-12, BR 15.5). i imagine inoue would sell a ton of those.

i have been meaning to get a pair of 50s and taper them a bit for that kind of fit, but it would be a bummer to miss out on that incredible roping from TCB’s chainstitch.

  7. been wanting to see how new 30th anniversary denim fades... it doesn’t appear to have the same texture (especially the horizontal warp slub you see so often in “classic” XX/66 denim), but that’s just looking at the raw/one-wash pics so i could be wrong.

it would be fantastic if someone could offer a few inseam lengths to preserve the taper of a cut when it’s worn shorter kind of like resolute does (although i’m 5’10 and i don’t know how many people care about this). might be too hard to pull off, but it could be limited to something like 28, 32 and 36.

Just acquired a pair of Denime XX. I believe they're a new production jean (model no. 5011-0075). I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much the newer XX pant would differ from the older, pre 2000's XX pant, in terms of fabric and construction, mainly. The fit is great, reminds me of my TCB 50's which I find to be the perfect 50's cut.

is the rise on the XX smaller than the TCB 50s? some XX cuts seem to be somewhat shorter and others don’t so i’m curious how this one compares.

apart from having already had a warehouse contest, the brand is almost too fail-proof? everyone is pretty much guaranteed cool fades by the end of the contest. i like contests where the denim is a bit more stubborn and would not show any progress for months then suddenly, bam!, like the ooe lefty contest, the devis, the tcb 50s. i'm still gunning for tender tho, it's quite a bit different from your average jeans in cuts and details, i wanna see how people dress it up/down.

we haven’t really seen the new warehouse denim fade yet so i think it would be a nice choice for a contest, but i’m also just kicking myself for not getting a pair of the 46 1003xx.

tender isn’t my thing, but i can see it making an interesting comp.

  10. i would love to get a pair in the new warehouse denim and the 46 seems like a pretty nice cut that should work for most people. something like the fw47 cut seems to have a much higher rise and i'm not sure if i could pull it off.

i have been wondering if WH will bring the new denim back for the january catalog, but when i asked (about a month ago) they would only say they had nothing planned (other than the jacket).

would be great to see some pics of how it fades as i think a few people on here got the 46.

  11. question about the (old) 0105 - from measurements i’ve seen it looks like the waist is bigger on these compared to 1108, etc? so for an actual 34inch waist would a 32 or 33 work?

been wearing 1108s (w34) for about a month and the 13.7oz denim is just as great as everyone says it is,  but the thighs/hips are just too tight. can’t find any 1101s so i am thinking maybe 0105 will work with a slight taper.

  12. i found a pair of the 1951 DDs on rakuten i’m thinking about grabbing, but i am going to have to get a hem... anywhere i can send them that will get a decent approximation of the original roping?

i wish i didn’t sleep on the one-wash 2nd hand 1101/1100... perfect fit for me, just the right length and that classic 66/XX coin pocket wrinkle.

  13. keeping the rise from being too high is a good idea... i personally have always preferred straight-tapered fits as they do seem to be the most versatile (IH 633, FC 1101, etc). i have found at my size (33/34) i really don’t want the front rise being much higher than about 11.5”, back rise 15.5.

likewise the thigh (for me at least) needs to be 12.5” minimum and 12.7-13 is even better, but as you know the hips and rise have a big part in that.

hemming to a 28-29” inseam the width is ideal somewhere around 8-8.2” (8.5 inches being the widest i can pull off). a big tradeoff in how much taper is lost after the hem is how much knee room will be left - in that respect id rather lose the taper than have it come in too tight at the knees.

  14. looking at the warehouse slim belt in natural... anyone worn one of these? i’ve never actually spent real $$ on a belt so i don’t know what is/isn’t worth it, but my current one is falling apart and i haven’t found any i like thrifting.

Expect no shrinkage wahing it with cold water. They are slim fitted and short in length. I have the fox tee roadrunner in M size. I always wear M size in almost all brands and the FOX M fits me perfect but is really fitted. If you want a more relaxed fit I would go for the XL.

the fabric looks wonderful, but it also looks like it’s very high tension... does it breathe well at all?

  16. anyone have any experience with the 4601? some places call it a “bamboo” fabric and others say it’s loopwheel.

i have last years version of the 4065 (2nd hand) tee they just released and as much as i love it... the collar stretches out pretty easily.  the 4601 on the other hand looks to have a really tight collar and i’d probably want it to stretch.

  17. anyone have the whitesville pocket tee? how thick/warm is it? considering getting a 2 pack of the heather shirts, but been looking for a decent heather pocket t and haven’t found any that stand out. not a fan of heavier shirts that don’t breathe well so that would be a deal-breaker.

Thanks! I love it too! I just wish they were more of a 60 cut with the 50 denim!

i really hope this happens at some point... would pay for a custom build to get 50s denim in that cut if i could. has inoue said anything about doing something like this in recent times? i know someone said it was a possibility, but that was before the 50s slim came out.
