  1. we (BlackBlue) just got a re-up of the nisshinbo mills heavy slim jeans and a new shipment of the cone-mills greaser jean.

the denim on both is very nice. the japanese niishinbo denim is pretty slubby and probably around 15oz. the denim on the greasers is the Cone Mills broken twill that is a nice, clean looking denim. probably around 12.5oz.

i tried on both pairs today and immediately fell in love with the greaser fit. i'd love to see these in a heavier denim in the future although the broken twill is very, very nice.

we also carry the black duck chinos, the harringbone twill chinos and olive and khaki in the japanese military twill. they all fit much fuller than their denim. all solid, classic fits.

big ups to Christian and Left Field. we're proud to carry them.

  2. we carry both the JGMs and Ankara in 14.75oz at BlackBlue. we're very pleased with both.

there has been some issues with gapping in the back on the JGMs. sometimes this is fixed by sizing down but often this leads to the thighs being too tight.

the Ankara is a great, simple straight leg jean.

all in all, they've been a joy to work with and we're proud to carry them.

  3. i got the leather veg-tanned braces from context and am very, very happy with them. we've worked with our leathersmiths here in saint paul, MN Leatherworks on a couple small improvements (thinner crux in the back, more color options, width options, clasps/tabs). they should be available in the shop shortly.

in my opinion, braces/suspenders are perfect for the LVC 1954 501XXs and their high rise allowing them too appear slimmer because i'm wearing them higher than a belt would keep them.

this image ignited a small discussion on british skinhead style in the LVC thread:

  4. Can you take a couple shots of the double cuff unrolled. I'd like to see how the edges of those cuffs are coming along. Much appreciated.

hey, yeah i can do that. i regret to say that they are not chainstitched-- there is no chain stitchers within many hundreds of miles. it hurts my feelings that they aren't but i'm so happy with how they fit/are wearing that i didn't want to send them off and not get to wear them for a few weeks.

i'll get back to you on that.

  5. Yes, if you prefer a straight fit. But then you shouldn't buy a 0705, but a 0905. 0705 should fit slimmer like I stated before, but nonetheless the fit is good, only not as it should be.

I've posted these some time ago in this thread, with (offcourse) your credentials. They are absolutely stunning.

thanks for the kind words. i remember you asking now. i haven't spent much time on sufu or sf and a friend of mine, jyoni, just suggested i throw them up. i love them. there is a lot more wear left in them and they'll only get prettier.

  6. that's an awesome old illustration. love how small the cuffs are. it's like what concept car designers to do tires. what's this image from?

i wish my gf dressed like that girl on the left. but only during the winter.

  7. Just started to read this thread and it's making my head spin!!! So much to catch up on! So what are some of the slim tapered models? I'm trying to research a couple of pairs. Thanks in advance.

anyone wanting a slim/tapered LVC 501 should surely try the 1954 501Z XX. the purists will be annoyed by the zipper and some people might have a problem with the high rise, big pockets and antifit butt. i think it's awesome and has a much more "old-school" feel/fit than the '47 and is much much slimmer from the thigh downward than the 66.

i open the floor up to debate about authenticity of the zipper/fit/etc...

the high-rise is refreshing. they don't shrink that much in the waist, leg or ass just about an inch in length after two warm soaks and appear significantly darker than the '47s or '66s (what we carry in the shop).

we sell a lot of these to guys and a surprising amount to girls at the shop--mostly to dudes who love the LVC story and the idea of shrink-to-fit/unsanforized/loomstate denim but have worn skinny or slim jeans for the past few years and can't quite stomach the leap to how straight the '47s are. these can get pretty slim depending on how high you wear them. i've discovered that braces (again discuss authenticity) help keep them higher than a belt.

a big percentage of '54 buyers are making the leap from APC new standards. when looking to step up their game, interestingly, customers are often choosing between these and raleigh's thin cut. often choosing the '54 LEVI's over left field, raleigh, tellason, & baldwin's slim offerings.

i am surprised this style doesn't get more love here but i understand why,

i've worn these daily for 4 months. more/better pictures anon.

  8. unlucky, man! it shouldn't be much of a ticket. thanks for the kind words about the shop. i don't want to muck up this beautiful thread but BlackBlue would be honored to display your '44s and all the fledgling denim in the shop will have something to aspire to.

don't get me started on steve's jeans...i wasn't in when i got them. i have them pretty well hidden at the shop at this point.

all, in all, i hope you win so you can bribe SPPD with cultizm store credit!
