  1. Does anyone have a link or info on where I can see what Vibram soles are currently available?? I need to get my Danner x Tanner Lownsdale Boots re-soled soon and had planned to stick with Vibram. Looking for something with a lot more traction to it. I use these boots as everyday boots and for hiking. The current sole has such poor traction for hiking. Any opinions?? Was thinking maybe go nuts and put a ripple sole on them!

    Thanks

Depends on the type of hiking you do. Vibram' s Bifida is the best sole I've ever tried on rough terrain but I think its cement only, if that is a dealbreaker for you. Vibram Fouras/Sierras are reliable too, but they do have a funky profile.

...comfortable straight out of the box! gonna clean'em and besides that, i'm thinking about dubbing them!

    let's wait and see though...

Viberg is hit and miss for me but I am a huge fan of the Vibram Sierra/Foura sole. Definitely need to post more pics once they rack up some mileage.

  3. ^I have also heard of Altberg hardiness, these Aussie dudes in RC South loved theirs. Due to uniform regs I can't attest to the quality myself but if they say so I believe em!

On an unrelated note: quick snapshot of my repro roughouts, they are actually quite comfy even on load-bearing hikes with the right socks.

  4. Sorry for the low-res but I figure I ought to share as they're about unwearable now.

Left Field High Slub(Kuroki). Got these 2010 and wore them through to about June 2012. 1 wash per season.

Definitely got my money's worth of wear and memories in these.

    About a year of wear.

  6. esku, for a 'classic' 501 fit 29x34 would probably be the best choice. For a contemporary slimmer fit go true to size. I think the indigos come in 28x34, some of the seasonal colors are stocked online but the small sizes go fast.

the Levi's site has everything 30% off and free shipping. I'm tempted to cop a pair of STF (it comes to like $33) even though the consensus among denimheads seems to be that the quality has declined the last few years. $30 though...

The quality certainly has been decreasing but the current 501s are still hardy enough to last a few seasons and show great wear. Worth $30 at least.

  7. when i was little i wanted to be a mailman so after i got my first bike in 3rd grade i got pieces of paper and wrote 'mail' on them with crayons and put them on peoples doorsteps in the morning. i feel like doing that again but i'll probably get a brick through my window.

  8. reminded me of this.

I created a situation like that. I went into SELA a few months ago because I was in the city and there was this cool edgy new denim with a cattlehorn patch or whatever so I wanted to check it out.

I don't know what it was that day, maybe it was too hot and just the store being empty but as soon as I walked in I just got this awkward antisocial feeling. I started walking around and handling the belts and poking at the jeans for a few minutes and the guy at the counter comes over to entertain me, I ended up making him run around the store to get me different sized belts/wallets in a bunch of colors that I stared at for a few seconds and put them all back.

I asked about the jeans I came in to buy and he said they were out but a restock was coming, offered to let me try on some other jeans, I felt like I should just buy something because I'd stretch out these other jeans I don't want for nothing but I just couldn't walk away. Then after that he walked me upstairs and I played around with the shirts and he was educating me on loopwheeling talking about the artisan crafting etc.

I ended up costing Johan 2 hours. on the bright side nobody came in while I was there so I wasn't exactly taking away business.

It makes me feel especially guilty because he was perfectly helpful and polite the whole time.

PS I still haven't bought any jawnz from SE since :(

  9. I couldn't find superdisgusting, this thread seems fitting enough.

I just moved into a broken down cheap tenant house(like 7-room house walled off into 2/3 room portions) and there are loads of spiders and ants that weren't here when I did the tour. Not to mention the top floor is always 10 degrees hotter than downstairs.

Anyway today I was washing up after breakfast and I hit the tap for a second and immediately as the water runs down the drain, the drain cover pops up and roaches scurries out trying to climb out. It was a large one big enough to cover my palm and a few fingernail sized babbies.

Needless to say I cleared every dish in reach and Raided that sink into a toxic fog.

I can only wonder what filthy insect metropolis is flourishing underneath the neighborhood.
