  1. Yeah Nick, I'll be coming down on the 17th of March. Should definitely meet up or get a sufu meet up going down or something. Might pop Melvin a message too.

Shoeworx Chifley Plaza? Alright I'll definitely check them out. The 'ugly topy' that I was referring to before were ones that had a bright red topy rubber logo in the middle, and I just didn't like that.

  2. Sadly, +J will be discontinued in the future. It was good while it lasted.

Need some help guys, it'll be my first time in Sydney soon and planning on re-soling some of my shoes. Anybody had some good work done on RO dunks or boots in general? There's only one good cobbler in Perth from what I know but he told me he can't help me with the RO dunks and only has some really ugly topy soles. Would appreciate some recommendations guys! Cheers.

Also got a sales thread, and always prefer to deal within Australia: here

  3. ^ I hope that you guys still have good stuff left by 3 weeks! Gonna be my first time in Sydney, don't let me down Harrolds!

I have been using uniqlo's +J shirts for work. Slim fit but quality is not that great, expected for ~$50. The non iron ones were probably the best. There is still some on the Japanese sight for 1990yen last time I looked but slim pickings.

I have the regular +J ones and they are a bitch to iron, so definitely go for the non-iron type. Uniqlo regular range has slim-fit easy-to-iron work shirts too, worth giving a try.

  4. Haven't been here for the longest time (probably because I'm not in Australia atm lol), sup all. D, I applaud your courage...seriously. The result turned out great - I would say it actually looks a little better after you washed it.

that actually looks like it would be good for clothes.

Except you'd have to have a damn good memory to remember where you put your jawns haha. But yeah, definitely cool storage.

  5. ^ I agree.

There needs to be a sustainable competitive advantage that your label has over its competitors in order for it to last, not just peak during this 'window period'. And as stated above, a wide color palette isn't one of them considering many competitors have economies of scale at their side.

From the way I see it, you're looking at doing quality items for a reasonable price with good cuts and a variety of colors. Yes there's definitely a gap in this market for Australia at the moment...but once it gets filled up by bigger companies (Uniqlo/Muji) what's going to happen? Not only will they have more range of items, but they will also have better 'value for money'. You just can't beat mass production in terms of pricing. So you're going to have to offer something else besides 'good price range' for a quality product that you will have less profit margin on.

I'm by no means an expert in any of this, just voicing concerns. But I say go for it after it's well planned out and you have something to bring to the table that nobody else has. Had to type this response in haste, sorry for the jibberish.

  6. ^ Lol. Looks awesome but.

Carol's gear is hard to wear literally Mofiya. All of it. My pant's taped seams scratched me in the groin area...had to take em to the tailor to put fabric over the crotch's chain seam. The jackets have extremely restricting armholes as well that make it feel like there's a dagger in your armpit. Don't even get started on how hard it is to walk in the shoes. However that is the pain you have to suffer to wear art. :)

My basics are +J, a moment in, julius, drk shdw and con. The latter two for longer tops to pair with lower crotches.

  7. I'm back from what seems to be the longest holiday...waddup bitches? :)

In regards to cash exchange. Westpac does indeed do it on the spot, the $ limit is in regards to how much foreign cash they actually possess at the branch you visit. They have a flat transaction fee of $8 from memory but no conversion fee, which is decent. Bankwest has a 1% conversion fee but has a conversion rate that actually makes it better than Westpac. The negative is that it is pre-ordered. The post office is surprisingly good, but also needs to be pre-ordered.

Just as a general review for withdrawing cash overseas...ING Orange Everyday card is fucking sweet. Major thumbs up.

  8. Cheers herpsky. Much appreciated! Would you happen to know any good clubs that play RnB or Western mainstream clubbing music? A few friends of mine are really into it and want to tear it up.

edit: Omg I wish I was there for that sale! So sad... :(

  9. Any locals in Tokyo know where's good to party during this new years eve and new years day? Not fussed about music as long as its a good experience. Going to be a big group so any recommendations would be appreciated guys. Roppongi? Omotesando?

  10. My net has been down for a over a week because some noob signed up to a service provider with the wrong house number and used my house number instead. So lame.

Adam regarding the Boris buy at Dilettante. The men's store isn't that big so I suppose the buy for the store size was fairly decent. They picked up quite a lot of jackets, a few leathers, signature pants and some shoes. Went in quite awhile ago so I can't remember that clearly. Piece that I liked was a reverse leather jacket with the inner mouth guard that can be shown or hidden. Very cool piece with some very slim arms and nice collar. But overall, not that comfortable and fairly difficult zipper to work with. I would link some images of the items they have but I'm extremely short on time...seems like their online site isn't updated either..

Anyway I'm off to the airport now to the land of the rising sun so I won't be around to help any dudes out for Perth related things for awhile. So you guys have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

  11. thanks for this kuug,

when are you heading to japan? any stores you will be definitely visiting?

I'll be going to Japan from the 6th Dec till 5th Jan, and Korea after that. There's a lot of stores that I have in mind to visit, but number one on the list is definitely the Lift Tokyo stores. They just look insane.

But if anybody else has any recommendations on places to go, eat, etc. feel free to let me know. Only going to have 8 days in Tokyo though...so I hope that's enough.

  12. iphone 4 :( Worst part is that I still have to pay off the contract...

Fuck me. Does insurance cover lost phones? Because if it doesn't, it should.

Thanks for the help guys. I thought of just bringing cash but I'm not sure whether its a good idea to carry a '$x' of cash no matter how safe a country is. I'm currently looking into ING Direct with their Orange Everyday account. Just has a flat rate of $2.50 per ATM withdrawal and no conversion rates. Seems pretty good to me, although I'm worried about whether or not I can even find an ATM to withdraw from...I assume it'd work in that citibank in shinjuku...

  13. ^ Devo. Hope the phone was an old piece of shit! Haha.

Before I go asking around like a noob. Anybody want to hit me up with info on the best way to handle finances when in Japan? I know quite a few of the peeps in here have been before and just wondering how you did it?

I checked those travel cards and they are retardedly expensive with their fees. Are travel cheques easy to cash in and not hit with bad fees in Japan? I heard Visa and Mastercard don't work either. :(

Any help would be appreciated guys. Thanks!

  14. Ben was that the degustation? Because the serving sizes look quite big if it was. And the coral sounds absolutely amazing...with chicken skin....goddamn! Thanks for the pics man, girlfriend and I are quite interested in food as well since she works at one of the best restaurants here in Perth. Wanted to go to Maze last time we were in Melbourne but friends wanted to hit Press Club instead cause of masterchef or some shit. Was still good.

^ What I'm most interested to see upgraded is the chain seam. Although revisiting 3D pockets would be awesome imo, or a new sneaker! :D

  15. haha would love to have a proper chat with you Rob. Meeting up shouldn't be too hard! I totally understand why these stores would ask for exclusivity though so don't get me wrong. I'm all for it. There are multiple reasons but yes these kinds of discussion I would love to have in person.

Let me in on this too! :D Haha, too bad it will never happen. Not in the near future anyway. :(

LUC delivery was awesome...definitely a label needed to be experienced in person. However everything fits one size small. I normally wear 46, but in this season's LUC I was mostly 48 and 50s. Most amazing pieces would be the recycled knit jacket, wrong tension j pant and gusset long sleeve.

  16. That makes me wonder how strict designers are of what stores carry their labels to give the right representation.

Lol Benny I swear you've eaten at every single place that has a restaurant license in Melbourne. Gotta get some recommendations from you when I go again, cause the last time I went it was ave places. Lygon is mass overrated.
