I've been reading through the Dry Bones/ Self Edge competition thread from 2009, in anticipation of my new jeans arriving, man Superdenim then was in stark contrast to how it is today.
Some things of note...
- MUCH more swearing and general shit talking amongst posters, people were harsh back then, I kinda forgot a bit about that. You got called out big time for the most minor of things, it was brutal.
- People went to serious extremes to get "epic fadez", guys were biking for 50 miles in their jeans to get crisp honeycombs.
- Lots of rich white kids affecting the personality and vocabulary of gangsta rappers and talking about their crazy lifestyle, most of which seemed to revolve around drinking, skateboarding and playing basketball. It reads like the movie "Kids".
- Some great knowledge being shared by old school denim freaks from the days when Japanese denim was still a relatively new thing to most folks.
I don't know if I would go so far as to say that I miss those days, I lurked back then, but reading it all again was a great trip down memory lane. I'd recommend that anyone goes back and reads some of those early threads to see what the dawn of denim felt like on the internet.

Also, Trophy do the best original hems I have ever seen to get that roping effect.

No filter iPhone 6S pics from me mate, the colour is nice but it's the texture that makes them special for me. A bit like Samurai Jins before they changed the denim.

That is terrible service Flo, mental note made to avoid Okayama Denim.

Eternals and Warehouse are still on the list Flo, I couldn't resist the DB's though.
I'm going to bring back old SuFu....

So after all the trials and tribulations over a new pair of jeans I finally purchased an old school personal grail of mine. An unworn, mint condition pair of SEXDBXS09, I am so frikkin excited by this !!
The OG rep bar, the patch designed by my good buddy Jimmy Crow, the 16oz singed denim, the military canvas lined pocket bags, oh man I am in denim heaven
Also finally bought a copy of Ametora, looking forward to leafing through it.

Got it, the only thing that irritates me about buying direct is that they don't under value the package. So HM Customs and Parcel Force get to charge me an extra £50 for the jeans......looks like I'll just buy from BiG.

Thanks guys, they can up on a search I was doing. They aren't my cup of tea but was interested to know the story behind them as I wasn't aware Denime made jeans outside of Japan.

TCB 60's or Eternal 811?
I'm looking for simply a great pair of blue jeans to wear with anything and not think too much about in terms of wearing, washing or fading.

Raaaaagggghhhhh!!!!! Frisbee don't have my size in Warehouse 800's after all, and I can't find another pair.
So I'm going with Eternal 881's from Denim instead.

Mega fuck why not a 2021?
Ed, pretty sure I just answered that 😂

No, it's a 4041 christy, which I thought suited the lower profile of the boot better.

Thanks everyone for your help over the last couple of pages, I found a none wash pair in a 38, where the post wash measurements look spot on, at Frisbee on Rakuten. I'll be ordering tomorrow

Just looked at the Warehouse 800, looks like a winner to me. Any tips on where to buy them who take PayPal?

Thank you all for your responses, like I said originally I was really interested in hearing your opinions about some denims, cuts and brands so this has definitely been a worthwhile ask for me.
I’ve had a look at some of the models over on Denimio and this has instantly ruled a couple out…
· SDA 101’s in a 36 waist have a 37.5†waist when raw, but the one wash goes down to 34.5†for the same size. If true the SDA’s are out.
· Eternal 811 have a crazily undersized waist in their one wash format too, so they’re out.
· Denime 66 basics look just about right for that slightly over sized look that I like, so they are still a contender.
· The Momotaro Heritage jeans do look nice, but there are other brands I have ahead of them.
I’ll keep looking…

I think something like a middle, straight cut might be best for what I'm looking for.

On the subject of heavy denim, I still love it and will probably always favour more substantial jeans simply because I find it more comfortable, but I am definitely more open these days to try a more vintage cut and lighter denim to compliment what I already wear.

The Full Count denim does look amazing, the wear I've seen on most pairs looks really vintage style too, which is something I am interested in. The Denime 66 also looks great for vintage wear.
The thing which puts me off slightly with the Sammies is I have heard some complaints about quality recently, plus they bleed out pretty quickly, so they might be out.
I don't know much about Japan Blue, but they are much cheaper than a lot of brands, make and dye their own denim, and the worn examples look really nice too.

Also, Europeans were a bit of a rarity back then it seems. Most posters were from LA, San Francisco, New York or different Asian countries with only a few Europeans scattered around.
