  1. Honestly didn't care that much for the new Arrested Development. Last few episodes it felt like it got into a good groove, but for the most part it didn't quite feel the same. The episodes in the last season were a bit longer, so I feel like it maybe lost some of the zip and some jokes made it in to each episode that maybe shouldn't have.

Recently watched all of Undeclared, which was pretty funny, and now Im watching the Sopranos.

  2. Read about a quarter of Swann's Way, the first part of Proust's Remembrance of Things Past, before I gave up on it. I spend a lot of my time studying for exams, and I really don't have the patience for Proust right now.

So now I'm reading Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World.

  3. How does it compare to White Noise?

I personally enjoyed both Underworld and White Noise a lot. If you didn't really love White Noise, Underworld is pretty similar, except theres a lot more of it. Cosmopolis is really great if you haven't read it yet, and much more concise.

Enjoyed Dune, but I don't think Ill be getting through the rest of the series anytime soon.

I like Hesse a lot, but this was pretty different in content than most of the other stuff I've read by him. Bleak and wildly depressing. Not a good summer read.

    Starting this now.

  5. What did you take from it?

Its been a while since I watched it, and trying to describe what I took from it would be difficult. I enjoyed the overall mood of the movie though. I found the concept of a more psychological space/sci-fi movie to be really interesting (a sentient ocean that uses your memories to drive you to suicide??) At 3 hours though, the pacing can be slow.

Read these two while in school. I usually need something lighter and easier to get into when Im busy with university. Starting Under the Volcano for the second time now that school is over. Im aware that its held in high regard, but I seem to have a problem getting into it.

As for The Catcher in the Rye, I really enjoyed it when I read it, but maybe because I was younger and it was easier to relate to Holden. Either way, its not a very long book so it shouldn't be much trouble to finish.

  7. Fuck, Ill be graduating this May from a really great university, but I have no idea what I really want to do afterwards. I worked a few internships (tech/finance), but Im not really sure if thats something I would really want to do. I guess the game plan is to get a job, then go back for my masters then ?

Really dont want to have a job that pays well that I will resent, but Im also not going to be "following my passion" earning peanuts.

    Anyway...

  8. so i'm looking for some reasonably priced wall mountable speakers for my room. running them through an older onkyo receiver, any advice?

wall mountable not necessarily necessary, anything small with stands or just small in general is good

Ive been running some Polk Audio Monitor 30 Series II speakers through my Onkyo stereo unit, and they sound really great. They're substantial speakers, but don't overwhelm my small room. Can't remember what I paid, but I got a good deal on Amazon.
