  1. A lot of the major retailers have already had their big sales for the year. I can't imagine those who are left will go any higher than 30% off, at which point it's hardly worth going through the trouble to have an item proxied given what you'll be paying them in terms of taxes and shipping fees. I think your best bet is to keep a close eye on international e-bay auctions. (Make contact early so you don't lose out.)

you are right, a lot of big sales happened and a lot of items were gone but there are still some retailers carrying my size. at 30% off in canada + shipping it's still 50% less compared to german prices. here are only two or three stockists and they aren't really mark the stuff down.

in my experience, at 50% down in europe it'a getting questionable but only mrporter or 290sqm reduce their prices by 50%

edit: in addition, due to the "improved" ebay system it got a lot more troublesome to pass on the custom fees. if i buy an item at ebay.com, i have to pay customs to ebay directly in 90% of the auctions.

  2. looking for a Canadian proxy for the after Christmas sales. Someone may want to help me out? Pleae send me your thoughts about your service fees and we will work something out.

  3. I got the Mionn Composite and I really like it. The cut is comparable to the Atom LT, so it's narrow. I would advice you to choose your normal size.

For the warmth, temporarily I am wearing it under a Monitor LT and two tees under it at 0°C and wet conditions. It's ok, but you definitely recognize the non-coreloft filled parts at the arms and the overall feeling is not that comfy - but doable if you move. I should go with a longsleeve instead of the second tee... But above this temperature, everything will be fine. I can't say that much about the water repellancy, but it dries fast and it gives a feeling of windresistance

  4. doesnt work very well for me. i think i need a trim to remove all the knots that are in place at the moment. probably just cut it all off. cbf with long hair anymore.

i have the same issues and the problem can be solved with some rinse off conditioner, like mentioned before. I am using the Dr. Hauschka rinse off lotion which is off the market now and it really works great. They got some Neem oil which is also working very well. It's a bit pricy but totally worth it.

  5. hum? Mine got no two way zipper and I don't miss it. The one thing I miss on the Monitor, compared to the Partition coat, is the small loop on the bottom of the zipper. This would make connecting both sides of the zipper much more easier

  6. The only item The Corner picked up in XS this season (which is better than none at all from the summer collection):

    :wacko2:

They also had the Mionn Composite Jacket in XS but it was sold out after the first 15% off sale and size Small after the second one

pretty sure they do have the black mionn on there?

anyone know if a size m in the mionn would be too big for 37/38" chest?

Have you handled other Arcteryx (Veilance) stuff? I measure roughly a 36" chest and size Small in Mionn Composite fits perfectly, like the other Arcteryx Jackets I wear.

What does the Veilance size chart suggest?

  7. I'm looking to expand my 'mature' shoe collection. I got started in the hypebeast/nike sb scene, and now I'm transitioning into a more mature look. Currently my 'mature' shoe collection consists of a pair of quoddy boat mocs and brown suede desert boots. I was thinking about Quoddy's grizzly boots as a winter solution, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to drop that much cash on a shoe that looks so similar to the only quality shoe I already have. Since I already have beater winter boots, I could skip the winter boot and look in a different direction. I really like the look of Alden shell, but I can only see the chukka and maybe the plain toe boots fitting my aesthetic. I really want the chukka in cigar and the plain toe boots in color 8, but I'm not sure if now is the best time for those since I have no use for a formal or even business casual shoe.

  8. You may look for reviews of the Atom LT from Arcteryx. I will use it as layer under my Monitor, but I think below 0 °C it's more or less worthless with a simple shirt under this combo.

You also should consider a lot of "exposed" softshell material which is not this weather resistant compared to a hardshell.

  9. ill give it a try. i also wanna try sumotec, grey gatsby, handz de fuko and some other stuff.

    hold (sumotec) < hold (sumowax)

I use both depending on the finish (sumotec = matte; sumowax = a bit shiny) and thin hair, too. Either you use hair spray or a good leave in product like bumble and bumble texture. This provides already a lot of hold, texture and matte finish.
