  1. Looking good! Neat to see that we're all getting that same long whisker and wear through at the cuffs.

It's funny how sensative to light these things are. You take one photo they look black, another they look powder blue. I don't think I've been able to take more than one picture that really nails the color of my 0105Cs.

Sept 3rd was six months for me. Been two weeks since my jeans have been through the wash, and I want to make it through at least this week (preferably through next) before I toss them in the washing machine.

  2. He's right, this contest is meant to organize LVC fanatics and compare our different well worn jeans.

There's already a 500+ page thread here doing that. I'd hope that if cultizm is going to sponsor this deal, more effort would be made to treat it like any other contest.

  3. Regardless of how we define a contest, this thing won't get going until we have at least 20 people! And you can bet that there will be some good prizes from Cultizm if we have their full sponsorship (that means jeans only bought from them!). Of course, if we don't have the 20+ participants we can still have our own little contest but with less of a prize (maybe we can all contribute some money, etc.) but as for me, I HIGHLY prefer the other route, ie: full sponsorship from cultizm. Whatever your reasons to participate, it doesn't have to be the same as another person IMO...lets just get this ball rolling!

Best thing right now would be for someone to take charge, whether it's a forum member, or dejan, and say "this is the contest, this is the rules, this is how it's going to be run". I think more people would be inclined to join if there were set of clear cut rules. Right now things are pretty half assed and up in the air. It's no wonder there aren't 20 people signed up already.

  4. I like the fit of both, but give the Warehouse the edge. My prefered denim is hands down the Full Count, but the Warehouse is still new and very hairy. Given daily wear, I'm sure the Warehouse will turn out nice. Both jeans are darker than they appear in the photo. Here's the 800s, inside, near a window, with no flash.

  5. I'd guess that they cold washed the 800s. If you hot washed them, or some raw ones, they'd probably shrink up like mine.

Here's a crappy picture of my 800s and my Full Counts 0105Cs, both are size 40. #800s are higher and narrower waisted, less anti fit in the rear, narrower in the thighs, and much less tapered in the lower leg. Doesn't show up in the picture, but even with six months of wear and 9 or 10 more washes, the non-worn areas of the Full Counts are darker than the #800s. Oh, and the #800s are VERY soft.

  6. Benz, with a hot wash and trip through the dryer, my 800s shrunk to below tag size, and have stretched out to tagged size (or 1/4" under it) with just a couple wears.

My experience with BiG's measurements on the 800s and 0105Cs is that they've been right on.

  7. Hot washing and drying all the way will shrink my 0105s a little over four inches from their original size (43"). But they very quickly stretch out to their labeled size (40). Should have gone with a size 38, because I'm 100% happy with the post wash fit, which would probably be how the 38 would fit after a cold wash and some wear.

Quick question since I'm sure there are some guys here that have experience with the various brands. I have a pair of Warehouse #800s for when the contest is over. I'm looking to pick up another pair of jeans this week or next to get shrunk up while the weather is still warm. Should I get another pair of 0105Cs or a pair of 1947 Sugar Canes? I'm leaning toward the Canes.

  8. Push the start date back to January 1st, and run the contest for a year and a half, and I'd probably pick up a pair of 1954s to start wearing the beginning of March once the FC contest is over for me.

    My thoughts on the contest...

Open to all models? Great idea!

Bought from Cultizm? A must, espcially if he's offering some sort of prize/sponsorship.

Unworn, already soaked jeans? Well, I'm not a stickler, but it IS a contest, and part of that is going out and buying a brand new pair of jeans. That being said, I'm not going to be too concerned if jeans that have been soaked/washed and worn a couple times are permitted.

  9. Would love to participate, but I'm currently involved in the Full Count contest, got a pair of Warehouse #800s I want to start wearing, and I'm thinking of picking up a pair of 1947 Sugar Canes before the weather turns cold. Too much denim on my plate right now.

I do like the idea of opening the contest up to the model of the participants choice. With all the various LVC models, there's no way you'd get people to agree on one.

  10. Compared the donut buttons on my 0105Cs to those on my '44 LVC 501s, and I noticed the Full Counts are a little concave, while the Levis are flat or bulge out very slightly. Like Mr HaGa said, they've got an edge and I think that little up turn in the button makes the edge a little more effective in creating fades.

  11. how come button fly fades are so prominent on some jeans? do they have huge buttons or something?

Fit. On the 1108s and sized down 0105s you'll probably see a lot of button fades. On the more relaxed fit jeans, like my own, you'll see 'em, but no where near as pronounced.

  12. salaami, you asked if I wished I'd washed less and gotten more contrast. Nah. I'm pretty happy with the contrast/wear I've got. It just doesn't photograph well, especially in that fit picture. Weather is going to turn cold here in a month, and from October through the end of the contest for me (March 2nd), I should be washing the jeans a lot less.

Thank you to everyone that's given me rep. I appreciate the positive feedback.

  13. I'm not unhappy with the fit or the wear, just would have liked them a little smaller. I bought a pair of Warehouse #800s to wear when the 0105s need a break, and I plan on wearing them daily once the contest is over. They've got an inch more rise and an inch or two less in the waist. Exactly what I'm looking for in fit.

I plan on picking up another pair of the 0105Cs though (when I can afford it), this time one size down.

  14. Thread's dead for a couple days so I take some pix with my POS camera, come here to post them and see HaGa and almostnice's photos. Oh well, here's my lousy photos. Washed my jeans Saturday, probably the 12th or 13 trip through the washer. For most of July and August they've been washed on a weekly basis. Need to repair the right pocket.

  15. contest nowadays is everyone buying the same jeans at a cool price. db one is not taken seriously and fullcount one isnt either... the sammy one was the best one.

????? It's news to me that the Full Count contest isn't being taken seriously. Other than a couple weeks in April I've been wearing my 0105Cs daily since March 3rd, and posting updates when I can.

  16. knugget, like returning a pair of jeans to be hemmed and sending along a check or money order to pay for the return shipping, we'd do the same with the contest jeans. I wouldn't expect BiG to pay the shipping to send my jeans back to me.

  17. Demonito, I take the competition seriously. But I don't participate in it because of a potential prize at the end. Should there be something? Of course! But for me the "competition" is more about enjoying my and other's denim, and the comraderie in this thread, than a reward.

  18. A replacement pair for the winner would be nice, but it's not really about winning or competing, is it? I bought my pair because when I saw this thread shortly after joining superfuture (late February) I said "I want to be a part of this"

  19. ^I guess. But pics can be so deceiving.

Yep, and it can be pretty darn tough just getting decent photos (my camera certainly isn't up to the task). I wouldn't mind at all paying to send my jeans back to be judged, but I can see it causing a hassle for BiG to recieve (I'm guessing) 50 pairs of jeans, hang onto them until judging is done, and then ship them back to their owners. And if jeans get damaged, lost in the mail, returned to the wrong owner, etc..... even more PITA. And the nice thing about pictures is they can easily post them on the website for everyone to see.

But, if it gets put to a vote, I'm for shipping them back to BiG.

Oh, and I don't know if it matters, but I was never added to the roll at the beginning of this thread. Setterman, 0105C #087 start date 3-3-09.
