  1. I like alot of it.

MMM for me is clothes for 30-40 year old man who lived a left of center life in their youth but now have to dress more "normal", but want to maintain an edge. Think margiela is the only brand that fills this space properly.

  2. This is very good on some levels.

But why oh why the unknown pleasures graphic. You might as well have coca cola written or mcdonalds on your clothes. Its such a cliche.

His other references like to Guru Guru and EMS synthesizers were underground but this is up there with Number (N)ine and Johnny Cash/Kurt Cobain.

  3. Been listening this the last 1/2 hour sukenshoes, bumping along nicely so far :)

  4. No Country For Old Men is fantastic! Get it and read it now! I could not stop reading it, same thing happened with The Road.

McCarthy is one of the most powerfull writer of our day. He has something to say and he delivers it with such skill.

The first chapter of No Country For Old Men is phenomenal!

He's a good writer, but your going a bit over board. Great that a Pulitzer prize winner has an audio book on the front page of itunes in that maybe more people will read other books from other years ( Philip roth), but then again the popularity of the book has something to do how easy it is read and the apocalyptic themed subject matter that seems to appeal to post 9/11 america rather than the quality of the writing.

  5. Are you implying that the sun dying out is the reason for the world being the way it is in the book?

Or just replying to what I wrote?

While on the subject, poeple have thoughts on what it is that could have caused this? And why?

Nope, more the pointlessness of the boy living in the end. In the long run were going to be extinct and I think it would have been better if he tackled this subject. Suppose its the last great taboo that no one wants to face. Might not go down well though with the oprah set.

Read somewhere that it was an "impact". Maybe a meteor or something.

  6. With regards to the trout passage, I think the way I read it was that nothing is forever and nothing should be taken for granted as such, the trout, in all it's simplicity and with the small role it has in "our" world being described as a kind of "perfect" creation of nature/God and it too not having survived the total destruction that has befallen the earth. Even these kind of things that are way more powerful and older than man itself, are not "just there"...

Cherish everything for what it is today, as it might not be there tomorrow.

I hope that makes some sort of sense.

Lets just say the sun is going to burn out some day!

  7. This thread is making me want to get back in cycling. Used to road race when I was younger until I busted my knee. Even now every winter I it clicks when I walk.

Then it was reynolds 731 frame and shamano 600 group set, mavik rims, rolls saddle, cinneli stem and look pedals.

  8. i finished Wind Up Bird Chronicle and I liked it enough

he just doesn't light my fire----his prose is like an oxycontin stupor or like the dreams after a drinking binge

not a bad space to float around in i guess

    :shrug again:

I read alot of murakamai books in a row a while back and they are all just one blur. Found them enjoyable and think are really just kids stories for adults. Thought the one about the guy who was living in two worlds, with the bone reading would make a great manga film.

  9. Good winter food.

    Guiness Stew

Fry off the beef, garlic and onions, add flour, tomato puree, home made blackcurrent jam, seasoning, fresh rosemary thyme, two bottles of guiness, half a pint of stock. In low oven for 3 hours and volia.

  10. There are lots of futuremusic producer interviews floating around. Try google video. Take what they say with a pinch of salt though as everyone always contradicts everyone else ( analog vs digital etc yawn )

Best way is to find your own sound through experimenting and messing around.
