  1. heh, yeah its always a pleasant surprise to see another singaporean putting on a pair of well-worn quality raws.

i'm looking to buy a pair of somets but im not sure where they're available in Japan, anyone knows where i can get them in Tokyo?

its true though, hot weather is a bitch, but heyyy, there are dedicated people in singapore, the fellow singaporeans here are also awesome denimheads
  2. by the way, im heading to Tokyo from April 13 - 28, so if anyone wants to buy something let me know i'll help you get em ( think prps, somets, samurais, PBJs, or other non-denim stuff like julius) - naturally i need to know where to buy it from, along with price (so i know how much more to bring), size, model and description . Pictures would help ALOT.

i'll take maybe 1 or 2 orders at most cos i wont have the luggage space to bring too many things back. please pm me if you have decided you want to buy something and we'll work out the details .

  3. i guess singapore isn't really ready for jap denim anyway. Most people don't wear their jeans hard enough to justify the superior construct or fade them enough before some serious funk starts emanating from said pair - damn heat makes me reluctant to wear even my APCs out a sunny afternoon.

but the greatest culprit is, as you've pointed out, slavery to hype. i shed a tear for men in oversized tee-shirts, skinny jeans and flip flops.

But few people is really into Japanese denim in Singapore... a lot of em buy nudie because of that skinny fit + hype. I think for these 3 years that I have been buying and wearing Japanese denim. I've seen less than 5 people on the street actually wearing Japanese denim.... the most recent one is maybe a few weeks ago came across this guy wearing PBJ 005..
  4. not sure about PBJs but the last i heard you can get diors at Club21 Men at Four Seasons Hotel. Not sure if any stock is left but you should be able to find some other nice stuff there anyway too - pricey though.

  5. Anybody knows where to get jeans buttons repaired? Does places like Tet's Tailors or that Dr John place repair buttons? The top button of my 811s popped off in the toilet today. After 1.3 years of faithful service, it's time to let it go for some 'servicing'... Anyone?

Yes they do repair buttons. I prefer Tet's tailors to Dr John. Latter takes forever and produced sloppy work the only time i went to him. Tet's tailors is more reliable. Lots of shops in peninsula shopping centre where you can get your button replaced though.

  6. Tet Tailors is actually at peninsula shopping centre, the building right beside funan, opposite peninsula plaza. He's on the 2nd floor.

Tet tailors is not cheap, but the uncle is a competent tailor, knows what can't be altered, how much to alter & where to alter to provide the look you want. He managed to retailor my very thick denim jacket down by entire sizes, brought it down from a size L to a size S, altered it from a regular cut to a slim fit - shoulders, pit to pit, waist, sleeve length, sleeve width and probably some other dimensions that wouldn't occur to someone unfamiliar with tailoring. It was not cheap but most importantly, he did a great job on the jacket, made it look like it was factory-produced size S, fit almost like something from drkshdw.

I believe hemming costs $6-8, tapering costs something like $12 - you can call them if you wish to check - 63395415. I once retailored a pair of khakis completely. Waist, rise, thigh width and leg hem - came to $35. It was beautifully tailored, fit like a snug pair of APC NS in the end.

Btw i know it sounds mad to completely retailor some pieces but i did it cos they were really expensive and i got them at crazy 70/80% discounts so the tailoring didn't work out to very much in the broader scheme of things.

    Step 1: Buy frames overseas

Step 2: Go to your neighbourhood store and ask to install corrective lenses if needed.

Eye frams in singapore are quite overpriced. Starck for Mikli frames go at 1G. Ridiculous.

In fact I have been buying frames and going to this store in AMK even though I live in the east because the owner gives me a discount when I install the lens.

Btw, where is Tet tailors and how reasonable are their prices and quality of work?

    Thanks.

Karl Lagerfeld White Dress / Suit Shirt - $75 shipped

Slim fitting, slightly tapered silhouette, high armholes and slim sleeves. Retailed for $200++ bux. Made with substantial cotton, very very slightly rigid. a tad too big for me. I should have gotten a size 38 - its too expensive to slightly tailor every part of the shirt so i thought i'd just put it up for sale instead. *EDIT* I cleaned up that tiny stain , good as almost new now.
