Damn nice on those Indy's...I was thinking of doing something like that with mine but I'm still undecided...

I can say however that thanks to this thread I have become and Alden Junkie if you will...

I have a pair of Burnished Tan Calf Indy's coming from the San Francisco Store due in March...

I have a pair of the #8 Perf Cap Toe Trubalance Boots coming from Tom in due in June or July...

A pair of #8 NST Boots coming from Tom due in September or October...

I'm going to New York in March and while I'm there I plan on purchasing something from Moulded Shoe in a Modified Last...

and IF Tom decides to do a #8 Plain Toe Boot I will be purchasing those as well...

Busy year for me this year but at least I know what I have a plan..

  2. That sucks.

I was seriously considering them but changed my mind after realizing I was broke. That would have made me really really angry...

Now, I'm a huge indy fan. I've got a Wested jacket, one of the AB's from the crystal skull run (it was made from the same felt batch as the film hats, and during the same week) probably 5 clover lighter replicas....I've got the whole screen accurate set. I even make the whips myself....then I even went so far as to track down steven and harrison ford when they were shooting Indy 4 in new haven, AND I had the oppertunity to talk with them for a pretty generous period of time.......:D........BUT

for that price I could buy almost 3 pairs of standard indies, or some leather soul ultimates, which look fantastic. (thoes are worth it)

Construction wise is there really a diffrence?

It looks just like my pair. I've been curious about this since they were first posted.

    Are you on IndyGear vegetaray123?

I've been a member there since the first forum in 99'(?).

Yeah I def agree that it's not worth the money they cost...I do love them very much but like I said before, It would be much easier and cheaper to just buy a general pair of 405's and call it a day...Not really any diffrence outside of the color, stitching, and welt...and of course the leather tongue liner...That was my 3rd pair of 405's and they are pretty much the same construction wise...That's okay though because I think I'm going the chicken route and getting my oldest pair of 405's beefed up with a Vibram sole or maybe some Cat's Paws or something...Still waiting on Alden to get back at me after I contacted them about the new soles for boots and shoes so we will see how that pans out first...If Alden can do it I'm going with a double leather...If they can't I'm going to do either the Cats Paws or Vibrams on there...

Def go with Tom's Ultimate Indy's from Leathersoul...Cheaper, better quality, and def worth every penny IMO...

Yes I'm on Indygear..."Sneakertinker" over there...

  3. Not a bad idea, but good luck getting any consensus amongst a substantial amount of people for a single make-up from a company that does MTO for no upcharge.

I was thinking we could get something out of the norm for White's...Like Cordovan Leather or something...Just throwing it out there....

  4. The Adventure-bilt Germany division of the Adventure-bilt hat company, hat maker for the latest Indiana Jones film had this special run of boots commissioned.

Marc Kitter of AB Hats worked with the alden factory to create these.

His connection at the factory resourced all of the original materials the boots were made with in the early 80's. The string, heel foundation, and everything are made exactly as they were in the 1980's. The Leather color is replicated from a sample pair the factory had, and the boots have a full leather liner. The going price is around 800$ and Marc is doing another run for delivery early next year.

If you are not a big indiana jones fan, this will all mean didly squat. I'm a pretty big fan and this just seems ridiculous to me. You could buy cordo indy's for how much these were. Stupid.

Here's the original post from Indy gear after they arrived.

Almost right Shark...There is only leather lining on the tongue and not the rest of the inner boot...The rest is the same material as a regular pair of 405's...This actually pissed me off a great deal when I got my pair because I was told by Marc that they would have a full leather liner...

The reason for the high price was due to the exchange rate's from the U.S. to Germany and back to the U.S. but whatever...When it comes to Alden I'm a sucker...I do agree though as there not worth the price paid if your not an Indy fan...It would be much better just to get a pair of the general 405's...I'm of course an Indy fan and Alden is my brand of choice so this was a no brainer for me...

At any rate here is a picture I posted of my pair way back when I got them...They are fairly worn in now and aging very well...I've only added Pecards to them and nothing else...When I get around to taking some new pics of them I will post them up...

  5. For everybody who is trying to get a hold of me via PM please forgive me but for some reason I can't seem to reply to my messages...Most of you who are trying to get in touch with me know my email so please use that instead until I can get this problem figured out...

  6. Here is some better pictures of the Alden NST's (Tankers) on a Crepe Sole...I still say that this exact boot in a Cigar Cordovan on a Barrie Last would be the best boot ever...Oh well though, guess I'll just have to settle for a #8 Shell on a Lug Sole for now though...

  7. ray, I'm really feeling all 4 of the boots you posted. My favorite is the 2nd pair which is very similar to the ones I posted from hyr collective a while back. Those really all seem very japanese in style and would make excellent candidates for the sufu boots. I'm very partial to the plaintoe design as the boots may be too busy with the thick soles AND hand stitching. but that's just my opinion.

BTW if you send an email to Alden, please let us know what they say about getting different soles on the Indy's. I would love to get commando soles if I could after the restoration. Cost is approx $125-$135 last i checked.

I agree in that I really like the plain toe design but I don't however like the leather on that particular pair...If it maybe had the same type leather used on the NST pair I posted right after that I think it would look perfect...

As far as the Alden restoration goes I did shoot them an email last night so now I'm just waiting for them to get back with me...

  8. Here is a couple more pics I found...

 An NST with that same type of funk sole as the shoes I posted a little bit ago...Not sure what type of leather that is but it does look to be alpine grain, which some of you know I love...

This boot looks amazing to me...

  9. Here is couple more pairs I found while searching the net that could make an amazing Sufu type Alden Boot...That is if we decide to go with a work boot type design...Plus the soles on these particular pairs really remind me of that famous picture of Chicken repelling with his Indy's...and they have a design similar to redwings, which of course are very popular on here...Just trying to keep the idea of the Sufu x Leathersoul x Alden boots going...

  10. I know some of you have used the repair service that Alden offers for their boots and shoes...I'm in need of new heels and soles for a pair of Indy's and was thinking of using this service since I can't find any shop that I can trust with my boots here in Las Vegas...

I was wondering however if Alden, through using this service, would place a double leather sole and heels on my Indy's if requested...Most of the people I've seen who have used this service seem to only have gotten the general cork soles and Trubalance heels placed on their 405's...I'm really looking to get double leather on these though so if anybody has any idea about this please help me out...

  11. plaza last with handstitching, I've seen a NST oxford with it from Alden of Carmel I think so that would be possible. Very good thinking. I actually just ordered a pair of boots with stitching so I definitely like the look.

Another idea that came to me is a long-wing high boot in black or #8 shell. It would remond me of some Trickers but with better leather and made in the USA. (however I think this is impossible because Alden doesn't have a last for a balmoral boot). But its an idea right?

Long Wing Boots...Hmm...That could be very nice actually and it's not like that's been done before from Alden...Question is would Alden actually do that?...They seem to be very conservative with their designs correct?...I think if we could possible do a boot like this from Alden an Alpine Grain Calfskin would look amazing...

I do think that a NST or Indy on a Plaza last would look fantastic though and it would def tie in with this forum as we all seem to be very fond of these particular designs...But would Alden even allow that?...Things that make you go hmmmmm....That is if the long wing idea won't fly so to speak...

To me I would really have to go either with an Indy in a Plaza Last with the Flex Welt on a Double Leather Sole...or the NST in a traditional (For that design) Barrie Last a Reverse Welt and either a Lug Sole or a Crepe Sole...

To me the kicker for any of the above pairs would be to make them in the Brown Alpine Grain Calfskin...Or, if possible, Burnished Tan Alpine Grain Calfskin...

Imagine a long wing boot in a Leydon Last perhaps done up in Burnished Tan Alpine Grain Calfskin...That would look just insane...

  12. Been missing for a few days...Out of town...

Anyway's I was just reading through the post's about the Sufu x LS x Alden boots and I came up with a few ideas I thought I would throw out there...

It's clear we all wan't a boot that would best rep Sufu and when I think of that the first styles that come to my mind are "Indy" boots and NST...As we all seem to love these two styles...I figured it's only natural for us to do a make up of one of these two design styles right?...

It's also very clear that we want something out of the norm to represent this forum...So like I said here is a couple ideas that I figured I would throw out there...

#1...NST Boot in Brown Alpine Grain Calfskin...Crepe or Lug Sole's...With a reverse Welt...Barie Last of course...This pair would be cheaper as some of you have mentioned that the price point for a pair in Cordovan would be too steep...Also this would def be out of the norm...

#2...For the more dressy boot fans what about an Indy Boot in #8 Shell...Flex Welt...Double Leather Sole...on a Plaza Last...

Both I think would be very different and special in representing this forum...

  13. Hi guys. Honestly, this SuFu boot hasn't gotten the attention it needs to get off the ground, mostly my fault since I haven't taken a leading role in making it happen. I kind of wished it to happen on its own actually, through the work of members of this forum.

Anyway, honestly I haven't gotten much interest at all via email. Maybe a handful of interested people at most. Not to say I won't still make the boots, but it just doesn't seem so special if the SuFuxLS Alden boot only has 3 people from SuFu who actually ordered a pair if you know what I mean.

So, in conclusion, I'll still make the boots, but I'm not sure they should be the SuFuxLS boots.

Let me know if I'm totally off on this.

Please know, I'm not in this to sell boots. I really am not trying to make money off you guys. I don't care that I'm not getting orders. Just explaining the situation that's all.

Well maybe we should just scrap these boots and start fresh to get everybody involved...Start a thread for that only and maybe set up a poll of somekind that way we can really break it down to what people wan't the most...

I really wan't them myself but honestly there is no point in making them if they are not what we all wan't...

Like I said I really want these boots but I'm all for Sufu deciding what we want and I'm more than happy to chip my opinion in on a diff design if need be...

Since it's not going over as well as it should my vote would be to scrap these then and let's start from scratch...

  14. Damn...I guess I did buy the wrong size . I forgot to mention, my width is D, (My RW's are 10D and the Aldens are 10D as well).

What hurts is my big toe...at first it was only on my left big toe and then after a few wears it also affected my right big toe (not on the front of the toe, on the sides of the nail.). *sigh* I hate to have to let these boots go, I love them so much.

The RW's I own are the 877...been wanting some GT's though...buuut thats a different story..haha. And yea I buy my converse as small as possible...a 10, I used to buy 11. In that case I will go for an 11 in the plaza last.

It kind of bums me out that the Sufu boots aren't in the plaza last. While I did want to get them I don't think the trubalance last will work well for me.

And thanks for all the help guys. Expect to see a marketplace thread for my boots soon.

Also, there are rumors circulating of an AldenXContext collab....true?

Yeah you could have went with an E width in the Plaza and it would have prob taken care of that problem...

As far as the Trubalance (Sufu Boots) the D width will most likely fit you fine if your saying the Plaza was not wide enough in it's own D width...If you do plan on getting the Sufu Boots I would suggest getting a 10D as it should fit you fine...

  15. ^ hey ray, may I ask what you like about the crepe sole that is different than a commando sole? Both are rubber and should serve well on wet pavement. The only crepe soled shoes I own are some J crew suede desert boots and while they are comfortable, the sole (it may be the shoe itself) feels too soft and I really don't feel like they support my feet well after a long day.

On another note I've seen Alden "Walker" shoes where they have a 3/4 crepe sole and leather at the toes, as shown here:

    http://www.aldenshop.com/DrawOneShoe.asp?CategoryID=59

so anything is possible. My preference for any rugged Alden boot though would be the commando sole.

Actually to be honest with you I've never actually worn either the Commando Sole or the Crepe Sole from Alden...

I do like the 3/4 Crepe with leather combo as to me it just looks so odd out compared to other shoes of the same nature...Plus the soft nature of those type of soles would mean even more comfort and great traction in wet conditions...

I considered picking up a pair of the all weather walkers from Alden but as I wear mainly boots I decided not too...

Also does anybody know when Tom is going to close out the order for the Sufu Boots and get us an ETA for getting them?...

  16. Does anybody know if Leathersoul has any plans on releasing an Alden with Crepe Sole on a Boot in the coming year...I've been interested to see the crepe sole on boot from Alden for sometime now and was wondering if this is possible...

In point of fact I think my dream boot would be a NST in Cigar Shell with a crepe sole...That just sounds amazing to me...

  17. I'm in a bit of a situation here.

I recently bought the Leather Soul Plaza cap-toe dress boot (#8).

At first it seemed to fit perfectly, but as I wore them for a few days my toes started to hurt and well now they're kind of uncomfortable if I wear them for more than 4 hours.

(they're a size 10, I wear 10 in RW, converse; most other shoes are 10.5, while vans, which run small, are 11 for me)

I thought this would go away if I broke them in but it's really annoying and I just wanna be able to wear them.

I was considering selling them on the market place as they barely have any wear and using that money to get either AF60's, or the new LSxSufu boot in a larger size.

Or I wanted to know if taking them to a cobbler to stretch out would help...I wouldnt want the shape of the shoe or the condition of the leather to be compromised.

Any help at all here wold be greatly appreciated.

    *edit

also what last is the LSxSufu boot?

Shell Cordovan won't stretch despite popular opinion...Generally this is the reason Shell boots feel a bit larger than (for example) calf skin boots because they do not stretch tight on the last while being made...This is also the reason that you could purchase a smaller size in calf and still be able to wear them after a break in period...because that leather stretches...Cordovan however does not...

It sounds to me like you purchased the wrong size...Where is the pain at?...It could be that they are too small in the width department...or is it because they are too short in the toe area? All depends on where you are having pain at...

Plaza last is a bit on the narrow side in the toe area...More dressy...The Trubalance Last (Which is what the Sufu Boots are being made on) is more roomy...I wear an 11E in the Trubalance Last while I wear an 11.5E in the Plaza to acomidate the width problem and because Alden does not make a width bigger than "E" in the Plaza Last...

To compare...I wear 11 in Vans...10.5 in Converse All Stars...and as mentioned above an 11E in Trubalance Aldens and 11.5E in Plaza...If your buying a size 10 in Converse I say buy an 11 in the Plaza Last or a 10.5 in the Trubalance Last...Width is a whole diff animal though...Let us know what your width size is and this will help as well...

By the way I think you should just hold out for the Sufu Boots...Just my opinion though...;):D

  18. thanks for the comparison pictures vegetaray; i need to organise some extra funds!

Not a problem friend...At first I was only planning on purchasing a pair of the cap toe design from Tom but the more I thought about it the more I figured I should just get both pairs...So it's Plain Toe and Cap Toe for me...

They are going to be something special after all, seen as though you have to be a member of Sufu to buy a pair and they are going to have the special heel pad logo that ?mark is cooking up...

So excited about these since they are our Alden Boots...Made by us for us...Great stuff really...

  19. I'd like to order the SuFuxLS boot as well but need to sell one of my kidneys first; any offers? Any pics that resemble this boot in appearence? Id go for the cap toe one

Also here is some pics of the 86 boot, which is what the Sufu boots were based on...

Posted by WhiteShark on page 1012...Picture these in #8 Shell with eyelets all the way up...and no heel pull tab...
