  1. I have some cap toe shell boots in the grant last in a size 8D and I have the Indy (Barrie Last... I believe) in a size 8D. The indys have a bit of room in the toe and the shell boots are a little snug in the toe. I wish I would have gone a half size up on the shell boots with the grant last.

It's my opinion that the Trubalance and Barrie Last's run about the same...That being said I also wear the same size in the Grant Last allthough it's a bit more narrow in the toe area to me...When I start getting in the Leydon Last, Plaza Last Etc, I start sizing up a bit...

Ed...Do these have the Natural Edge to them? I was thinking of getting a pair of Bounty Hunters done up in the roughout but can't decide if I wan't a Natural Edge or a Darker Edge...Either way your pics just convinced me that the Roughout is the way to go...

  3. ok, i checked out loftman umeda, hinoya, beams, warehouse and a whole bunch of other shops this weekend in Osaka. Im definitely drooling over two pairs of Alden boots that are similar in appearence and price but still differ.

the first one is a custom black pair of Alden boots for Loftman. they have welt all around the shoe and black crepe soles with leather lining. see blog dated march 26 on www.loftman.co.jp/coop-umeda/blog.html

the second one is a custom black Alden for Beams and the appearence is practically the same but the welt is only partial and soles are neoprene and rubber (same as Indy shoes) leather also feels somewhat different, the leather on the beams shoe was somewhat cracking, dont know if it means anything though (concerning quality of leather).

what would you guys consider is the best shoe for this crazy price? or should i spend my money on a regular pair of Indys AND black red wing GTs?

also the clerk at warehouse showed me a new model boots that will be released this summer, exact replica of service boots for 56000 yen. they looked great

    SLAB...

For the price I would def go with the standard Indy's and GT's...Both classic boots...Also I think there is someplace around here where they are making an Indy shoe for pretty much standard price so why not those and a pair of GT's? That way you get a shoe which you seem to be looking for and a boot as well...

  4. Hey BFat...

If you do go with Alden Chukka's then might I suggest the 1339...#8 shell combined with the Chukka model on a Barrie Last is just perfect IMO...Classic and popular as well since I do believe it's Tom's best selling model from Leathersoul...Maybe when I get a bit more cash I will buy a pair...That's the plan anyway...

  5. Also, if the 405s are custom, what is custom about them? They look like normal 405s from the pics.

Here is a pic of when I first got them taken with my other 405's...

They are done in Burnished Tan Calf and are indeed a one off deal...

Of course they are the pair on the far left in this picture...I was trying to get them to a nice caramel color but since they have hit that pumpkin orange color I'm loving them very much...For reference the second pair from the left is a standard pair of 405's that I have done nothing to alter the color on...

  6. Long time no post...Just got finished giving my Custom Order Indy's a once over last night so I figured I would snap a pic of me wearing them today...

I have the color where I wan't it now so I've just been using a Neutral Shoe Cream as needed to maintain them...The caramel color was what I was shooting for and even though these still have a bit orange in them I couldn't be happier...

    Anyway here is the pic...

  7. Old picture of my boots...

    405s, GTs and Stows

This picture reminded me of something I was going to ask...Does anybody (Tom) know if Alden would consider making a Wingtip Boot in Suede on maybe a Leydon last or something? I was wondering this a while ago but due to everything going on never really got around to asking...

Nice boots by the way good Sir...

  8. Little update on my burnished tan Indy's...

Today makes the 4th time I've worn this particular pair since I recieved them and I gotta say they are turning into my favorite pair...

After my first wearing I added a coat of the Johnston & Murphy Natural Shoe Cream and I added another coat last night...With this I was able to tone down the brightness of the tan color and make them a little darker to a nice light flat brown color...almost caramel color...which is what I'm shooting for...I plan on doing maybe 2 more coats of the Johnston & Murphy and that should get the color right where I want it to be...

    Here is some pics...

  9. wow vegetaray123, jealousy fire here; thats one great collection of ALden boots. I still need to get my first pair :-( ; most shops won't ship the boots declared as gift so I'm hesitant to purchase

Slab you could always just have a friend buy you a pair here in the states and mail them too you declared as a gift...Technically they would be a gift after all...

  10. Woah! Those are nice lookin!

So do I understand correctly that you ordered directly from Alden?

How did that go? How long did they take?

Been thinking about doing that myself....

    Thank you very much...

I did order them directly through Alden and the whole thing was the best experience I've had...Very smooth...Very professional...Obviously they won't do single pair orderd for Cordovan Leather but everything else is pretty much fair game...If I had the cash I would be putting an order in for another pair of Custom boots (Maybe in a wingtip) right now...Funds are low though due to some unforseen circumstances plus the pendind arrival of my new son the first part of next month...It's alright though because I'm sure these will last me a while...

I ordered them at the end of November I think and the order was confirmed and went into production in December...The estimated arrival date was the end of March or first part of April but as you can see they clearly came early...

  11. Okay everybody...Got my custom boots done up in the Burnished Tan Calf in the mail today and I gotta say they are fantastic...Been having a hard time of it as of late so these def picked me up a little...

I purchased these back in December when the order was confirmed and they weren't supposed to be done until the end of March...Early from Alden is great...They turned out to be more of a muted color than I was hoping...Almost caramel colored...But great none the less...

Here is some pics...I took them with my other Aldens so I could show the color contrast...Obviously the pair all the way on the left is my custom order pair, the pair next to them is the general 405's that I have not altered the color on, the next pair is the one's I darkened myself using Pecards, and the pair all the way on the right is my AB's...

  13. Hey all...Been away for a little bit as I have some personal stuff going on right now and haven't really had time to post...

At any rate a couple of you sent me some PM's about 3 weeks back asking about the Burnished Tan Indy's I have on order from Alden...I don't have pictures as I haven't gotten the shoes yet (Hopefully they will be here in March)...But I do have a couple pictures of what inspired me to get some Indy's Done up in Burnished Tan...

I saw these pics over on Indygear last year sometime and since I love distressed 405's I fell for these hard...Obviously they are in the famous pumpkin orange / brown color that the 405's were being made in at about the early 2000's to maybe 2005 range...As I said I really love the color and had to have a pair...Since they didn't make that color anymore the closest I could get was Burnished Tan hence my special order through Alden...Anyway here is the pics that inspired me...

First pics of the Burnished Tan from Alden...

and the Pics that inspired me...Very close to the Burnished Tan Calfskin that is pictured above and what I have on order I think...
