  1. Been here a few days now. with regards to the gym question, most of the ones in my area are super expensive for anything less than 6 months. I am also yet to encounter a park with any equipment suitable for exercise. I will content myself with the abundance of stairs that surround me in shueng wan.

Was not aware that IT would stock so many smaller, underground labels (JW andersen, nasir mazhar, facetasm, christopher shannon, bazar). still yet to encounter any astrid andersen stock though. FIL at TST was dissapointing, yet to visit wan chai spot. PS7 is also not worth visiting.

Was very impressed with harvey nichols representation of Wooyoungmi (and a host of other korean designers i've never heard of).

  2. Regarding the Moto G. Been using it for the past few weeks.

Battery life is certainly amazing. no problems with processing power, etc.

Only gripe is the camera. Obviously didnt expect anything amazing, but the focal length is annoyingly long, and it doesn't have a focus function.

  3. I actually paid a rather ridiculous amount for it at the Gallery of Modern Art pop-up bookstore for Future Beauty, but I'd been after it for a while, and it all goes back to the gallery, so I was fine with that. I'm still pretty miffed though, the book is multi-lingual and I can only read the sections in English and French. The Paul Harnden interview I really wanted to read is in Japanese and I barely know any  :(

e: Thought I overpaid, consider the price of the book + shipping to Australia from their bigcartel page, I underpaid by about $50

    any more copies left?

  4. Kevin Low of Small Projects is the guest critic at my school's final crits this semester.

I honestly think I gained more from hearing him talk to our projects than I have from any teacher in my arch. education.

  5. The setup I ended up going with:

    2 x Reloop rp-7000s

    Traktor Kontorl Z2

    2 x Shure whitelabels

Built quality, functionality and features of the turntables is excellent, would definitely recommend these over a beaten up 1200 if you can get them for the right price. I am surprised how useful the reverse, +/-8, +/-16, +/-50% pitch shift and variable torque features actually are.

Went with the Z2 mixer, primarily because it is the only all-in-one solution to instant (1 button) switching between analogue and DVS control in one setup, below $1k. Main gripe is that traktor effects are only applicable to analogue sources in live mode (not thru mode), which is basically too difficult.

For a home setup with club-standard build quality, and flexibility to play analogue and digital formats, I can recommend all of these items.

a note on Traktor 2.6: So much more fluid and less demanding (on processing power) than older versions of traktor i've used (eg. with s4's).

  6. re: 1200s, i recently was offered a pair for $900 (VGC, in Aus).

Since their patent ran out, the only major benefit 1200s have over newly built turntables is the perhaps the build quality. Having said that, the build quality of new higher end turntables (rp-7000s, 1240s, st150s) is far beyond the needs of any bedroom DJ.
