  1. Nah shes really clueless when it comes to clothing, its just not a big deal to her. She went to college in a podunk town where its not important to dress well and it kinda rubbed off on her. I don't care in the slightest about how she dresses or what she wears, I found value in her other assets that she cares about. The problem is that she is insecure with what I want to do as a career path. I don't talk about clothes that much around her, and I don't brag about what I wear- but just the idea of working in clothing makes her embarrassed.

what does your girl do that makes her feel so superior to those working within the clothing industry? it's gotta be something good, right?

  2. as a single bro, its good to hear reminders from my locked up bros how they wish they were single some times. but this bed is so lonesome..then again, my hobbies are so awesome

i just bought a third bike and may start taking karate classes. aint no bitch telling me I cant. HA

date women that are interested in the same things you are? my boyfriend and I were into cycling separately... and now we do it together. it's nice to be able to go on 50+ mile rides with someone you get to fuck at then end of it. I find a lot of men are more interested in finding women that they need to convert into appreciating their particular hobbies. some men seem to even enjoy this sure to failing/disappointing process. I say, you'd be a lot happier with what you can get/have if you look for ladies in the departments of your life that you'd like to keep around and are already happy with.

  3. ayo. I know this is a bit rudimentary for most in this thread, but I'm buying a bike to commute to work. Only riding 3 miles each way, and trying to keep the price below $700. I'm looking at:

    Cannondale Quick 4

    Trek 7.3fx

    Bianchi Camaleonte Uno

I'm wide open to other options as well, but not interested in fixed gear / single speed. I've heard all 3 ride really similar, and the Bianchi style definitely appeals to me, but I'd like to get something reliable.

    Suggestions?

The Bianchi is pretty gorgeous, but I'm partial to anything Italian made in the cycling world.

I think a road bike is a good idea, but I wouldn't rule out an option of a single speed with a decent ratio set up. you could find a vintage lugged road frame with comfortable geometry (probably with a fork pairing) and fix it up for under $400. if you're really only going to be riding minimally, it's kind of silly to spend more. and if you are going to be riding more than you're saying, then you'll end up spending over $700 in the end-so you might as well start now. oh, and bring an extra shirt with you or keep one at work. you're going to be sweating more than you'd like, either way.

  4. if you cut me off, honk at me to get over, refuse to space the legal 3 feet in between me and yourself while passing me in your fucking 2 ton motor vehicle of any model and make-while I'm on my bicycle-I WILL spray you in the face with brown color dyed water.

  5. I repped you. getting me excited for World Naked Bike Ride Day... which is coming up soon, I think !

Concerning leather bar tape and all that jazz – I'm a big fan of velo-orange's elkhide sewn-on bar covers, here:

    gr-0005_1.jpg

Caveat Emptor – it requires hand-sewing, about 2 hours worth. Comfy. However, if you regularly ride 40/50+ miles, I would suggest pre-wrapping using a layer of normal gel tape, and then sewing on the elk-hide.

Velo-orange also has shellac flakes thedaniway, if you'd like to shellac your gel cork. I don't know if gel cork will work, you should probably use a cork only wrap but anybody else have any input?

Also – I am DEFINITELY buying a Surly Pugsley and slapping Large Marge wheels on there and a fixed gearset for winter. Trying to bike around in skinnies in 10º and ice was a recipe for disaster.

I have a friend that rides the Pugsley with Large Marge wheels, and it's a fuck ton of fun to ride... even when the weather is nice...

so you're saying get the regular Cinelli cork tape and Amber shellac it vs. Cinelli gel cork tape. got it. that's fine. it will be cheaper that way anyhow. and I ride about 100+ miles a week, so thanks for the advice on the sew-on wraps

  6. Shellac is your friend.

is this leather bar tape? my boyfriend said it looked like shellaced cloth tape, but it kind of looks like the cinelli leather wraps to me. either way, it's really gorgeous, and I'd like to be able to achieve something similar to this.

also... are you saying that I can just shellac my gel cork cinelli tape?

  7. I've been riding on 52-18 forever now. started out with a freewheel, but now that I've been riding fixed for a while I'd like if I could take down the amount of force I need to put in to start my momentum. I have been told a couple times that I can get essentially the same ratio stroke with a micro? drive train... assuming that this is correct information, can anyone tell me what might translate well?

  8. I want one just to see how fast I could break it in.

they start forming to the azz after about 100 miles. I haven't heard of them breaking in much faster than that, but you could always try humping it. it's pretty sexy

it was a river day, and I completely forgot to bring my bag of goods. how is it that some dude in bum fuck, that isn't growing, has the dankest/cheapest supply I've encountered in Tejas this spring? such a surprisingly nice score

sorry for the completely shitty lack of any serious detail phone picture, but I got my new b17s in the mail today and I'm very excited about it ! already put 35 miles into it today :) :) :)

  11. Which saddle? I've always wanted a Swift Ti, but can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on a non-Italian saddle.

just a B17s. I want a Finesse pretty horribly, but I'm not going to pay that much for a saddle either. I got mine for $85... not too bad

  12. does anyone else partake in severe bike neglect whenever you're waiting for a newer, prettier, better part? Brooks saddle and Mavic open pros laced to Phils high flange track hubs in the mail for 4 days now. fuuuuuuuuck

  13. as much as I'm looking for comfort, I'm also looking for a versatile style-and loose fitting jeans won't cut it. I guess, I'm not going to be so picky as to say I want raw specific denim-especially, since it's already so difficult to find a true raw women's jean that fits a slender frame...

but I'm a very slender woman. around 102lbs. so something with some stretch will be comfortable on bike
