They're beautiful and I'm pissed I have to return them, but yes I have to figure they checked them under artificial light, where it's still noticeable but nothing like when you take them outdoors, where they look like two different shoes. I have some snuff suede Indy's arriving tomorrow, so barring any issues I'll just go with those for now.
Did anyone pre order the unglazed shell service boots?

Thanks guys, agreed. Unacceptable QC for the money. Back to Canada you go! They were crust chromexel.

What's up Sufu bros. I'd like your advice on this. I got these viberg service boots in the mail today and immediately noticed how different the two boots were in color. I have a million pairs of boots and understand they're never exactly the same, but these seem to be two completely different colors. They may even out with wear, but they may not! Do you think this is acceptable QC from Viberg?

I'm pysched you guys like the new White's! I absolutely love them and wore them all day today with zero foot fatigue. I did a bunch of research on turning a semi dress in a field boot after I saw a similar pair on here quite a while back (owned by DDML I think). No secrets - I think lowering the heel can look goofy if you don't get it in block and close trim, but the combination of those three options seems to work really well when used all together. Here's the exact specs I used on Baker's. Price was like $390 and the wait was only a month. Lowering the heel does not ruin the fit or lessen the arch ease feature that White's are known for.

This is what I was really looking for, a service boot. White's semi-dress in distressed rough out with lowered block heel and close trim. Slightly clunkier than the Vibergs, but way more my style and about a third of the price. This is my third pair of White's and the construction and fit on every pair is bar none. I'll hold off on a Viberg service boot until the spring..

Morse, does this mean I also have to buy some vibergs?
Obviously!

Actually, scratch that about them being too big - they fit well I've decided. They're just too dressy for me with the frilly cap toe and the sheen of the cordovan. Not a shoe that fits enough of my wardrobe to justify the cost. For the amount these cost I need something that I'll virtually live in. I think the boondocker is more my speed. TIL I'm a 10E in White's, Viberg, Russell...

I blame you for this thinfinn!! Shell cordovan cap toes.
These are supposed to be 10E, which is what I wear in White's, but these are a little too big. Looks like I'll be waiting for a pair to be made in 9.5E and try those. Not confident enough in my sizing to go the MTO route yet. Regardless, these shoes are fucking beautiful. Sadly headed back to Viberg this week.

Either the Swiss jeans maniac pays for shipping or these things die!
It's gonna be a big bonfire cuz I have a lot of used up pairs at this point.

haha BF, just pick one damn pair to wear for a while!!
What does he do with them? I'm scared to ask how much shipping is to Switzerland..

Ha thanks. I was repairing them so constantly I just got sick of it. Breaking in some Black Shadows for the past few months and have fresh pairs of S0500 and 1108XX ready to go in the drawer.

coleslawyum has it. They will both hold their shape. They're too heavy and firm to sag or wrinkle.
Also, the Yen is headed for another dive so they're both about to become even cheaper if you know your size.

I'm a 40 in suits. My 40 Buzz Peacoat fits perfectly. The 40 RMC Peacoat fit about the same when I tried it on at BIG. The RMC felt a little heavier, but they're both pretty stiff and heavy - in a good way. I still feel the Buzz is a better value just because it's a couple hundo cheaper. I wear my Buzz pretty much every day in the winter unless it's really cold then I switch to one of my Canada Goose.

Kyle at Bakers is great to deal with - a lot easier than dealing directly with White's. Customization is much easier on the Bakers website too. You can even email Kyle a pic of what you want and he'll help you duplicate it. Patti at Russell is good for that too.
