i'd go tts measured size in raw if you want a slim fit...mind you, 501's are not like 511's at all. Although I think the current ones are quite slim.

For Levi 501 STF nowadays, for a slimmer fit, is sizing up the waist still recommended? I wear size 32 in the 511 fits.
Thanks! Id be great if you could message me!
You mean sizing down?

Having worn Nudie for the last few years I'm getting less impressed with their offerings.
Hardly any selvedge and the cuts are getting skinnier as they are getting more "high street".
So I thisnk I'm going to try some Edwin jeans.
As there's no stores around me it'll have to be internet shopping.
What fit is most like Nudie Average Joe (or Regular Ralf)
Anyone have any thoughts as to the quality of Edwin vs Nudie ?
From my own limited experience, Edwin is very good no nonsense quality denim. Fit and fabric are spot on and prices are very reasonable. Go for the raw selvage jeans though, the finished ones imho are not very interesting. The rainbow selvage models are very nice

For '67 505 owners..
Does the inseam shrink after washing, even though the denim is preshrunk?
Hardly, the Waist will shrink slightly with every wash, but then stretch again.

so i read that since the 24oz are unsanforized, after shrink they become 27oz... does that hold true for all unsanforized denim i.e. more "weight" after a hot soak? like say i soak my 17oz strike golds, after soak they're actually 19oz or something?
Unsanforized denim will always shrink and gain weight when it's soaked/washed. Just how much, depends on the fabric, it's usually between 15 and 30%.
Why on earth a sensible person would want to wear 24 oz denim is another question...

It's Levi's and lee significant years, I'm quite sure ^^

Any tapered/slim modern urban cut in a dark even indigo or black would do, no?

Ok im sold on these. Now i just need to figure out what size to get. I've read the 67 505 fits small so I should size up. I normally am a 36 waist but i am losing some weight. I'm thinking I should be safe and get the 38.
If your measured size is 36, you'll be safe with W36

You could try putting high tack tape on the paint stains, rubb, leave on for 10 minutes or so and then rip off, Chances are you will take most of the paint off.
Then again, they do look nice enough with the stains...I'd leave 'm on ^^

Yes it does, ever tried the 35 position? Make sure you have wet celery and flying goggles handy!
Seriusly, though; the numbers MUST mean something and I guess it's not entirely a coincidence that pretty significant numbers like 47, 55 etc...are used...check this out: http://www.edwin-europe.com/denim.php

Thanks for the tip. Are the other 505's not high rise? Also, also you have any other recommendations as these are pretty hard to find online?
Hard to find? Try Caliroots or Cultizm...and you'll want the '67 vintages, current 505's have a lower rise. One of the best jeans ever btw, and hell, they're even cheap by LVC standards!

swiss dig deeper.. I know the real answer but I'm not at liberty to say it.
Aaah, come on!

I've been rocking some APC new standards for about 2 years now and while the fades look great, they are really starting to fall apart.
I'm in the market for a new pair of jeans, but I'd like to get something with a much higher rise than the new standards (they kind of hang on my ass and it gets really annoying). Any recommendations on some good higher rise jeans?
LVC '67 505...

This may sound like a silly question, but I'm just not sure: do the two digit numbers of Edwin jeans refer to key launch years of Levi's and/or Lee models? I just ordered an ED-35 for cheap and it sure looks like a '35 Lee, including LHT. But then again, I bought an ED-55 for my son a few weeks ago and that does not look like a '55 Levi's model at all...

i don't like prps, too much snobbery, too little real authentic feeling, but that's just my opinion...

Yeah, I agree, if they're for free, go for 'm, Edwin make a nice jeans!

saintkeat,
I've seen them in the flesh - nice jeans but not worth the hefty price tag imho. Is someone buying them for you or are they a freebie from cultizm?
I've no idea on the shrinkage, but they're not sanforized, best bet is to email cultizm for details.
They may be advertised as 'a piece of craftsmanship', but the price tag is on the hefty side indeed...

Here's a rare item on ebay- a Lady 501, presumably a 66 model:
The size is 28 x 38 (!) and it seems that this item is an old ORIGINAL. Interesting fact (besides fake suspicion) is that this jean is made in france.
That must be one f*cking tall gal...

did you see the 501's the guys got?
Yeah, must be '47's or close. Do you guys notice a red line in the selvage, I don't, could be my screen, but ain't seeing one...

oh cool. please give me measurements of that pair! from cultizm? and yes, '55s are better for bigger guys than '47s
No, not Cultizm, LN-CC. Actually, they are season '08, but I don't mind, they were just 170€ shipped. Love 'm.

I just got my first pair of raw '55's today and I ab-so-lu-te-ly love them! I don't know why I didn't get a pair sooner, they fit like a glove and they're perfectly fit for muscular legs, MUCH more so than the '47's. I may order a second pair right now. I went tts 34/36 and they're just slightly oversize to make way for shrinkage, brilliant!

The spring 2011 505 are made in Turkey, likewise 2010 and 2009 and most of the raw jackets. They were supposedly moving jackets to US production, but I haven't heard mention that the 505 moved. Bryan, what year are yours?
O right, I didn't know that, mine are 07 an 08 pairs and they're def USA

Interesting stuff
My pair has Made in U.S.A on every tag
The raw ones are Made in USA indeed.
