  1. Bear in mind these aren't the LVC version, which have the blue-line selvage and all the period detailing - and have just been reissued

Edit: what the hell are these? they have the cinch in the wrong place, whcih I don't remember from the Euro, mass-market 201. Maybe they're fake, for sure they're ugly. Avoid.

They are not 201 repro's, they are part of the "Levi's 201" top mass market line. They were introduced some 2 years ago, I guess as an answer to Lee 101 line. They are not bad products in any way but they're no repro quality either...

  2. Yeah, don't understand their price policy, they should by now realize only a fool will pay that much. So, at the end of the season they're bound to go on sale and that's when us denimheads will buy. Why not make 'm cheaper to begin with?

  3. Man, my '47s are tough to fade. I've worn them almost daily for going on 8 months and they're just now starting to fade in whiskers and just barely in the combs. I'm not complaining, I'm just curious if everyone else has experienced this.

Sure, pretty normal, it takes some time before you'll see any significant contrast.

  4. bought a pair of levi's (One I Love) wash and they didn't shrink as they were expected to after washing. I washed them in hot water twice and the jeans didn't shrink at all. Should I keep washing until they shrink or are they never going to shrink? This particular pair has the tag with the shrinkage information that normally comes with the 'raw' levi's.

    These: http://www.oki-ni.com/invt/lev0909den

They are not raw, they will not shrink...

  5. Bringing an old discussion up: I think I've fathomed out the code behind the ED figures:the lower (35, 39, etc...) the more loose fit, the higher the slimmer/skinnier. Must be some sort of width/leg ratio. On the whole, I'm liking Edwin more and more, in fact they've pretty much become my favourite jeans brand.

  6. I got a new pair of Edwin jeans. They are sanforized.

Edwin recommends pre-soaking, but I've never bothered to pre-soak any of my sanforized jeans before.

Should I do what's worked for me in the past (no soak)? Or should I follow their recommendation and soak them? I don't really see a point to soaking them, as they shouldn't shrink.

You can go without soaking, but it's better with; it'll prevent indigo bleeding and staining and help break in the jeans. Also, even sanforized raw denim will shrink a tiny bit. And they'll simply be more comfy. Don't worry about indigo loss, it will be minimal.

  7. So i need some quick help guys. I have a pair of PBJ that are the perfect for me pre-soak/shrinkage, aside from the waist and inseam.

Will a cold soak solve my issues with the waist and inseam without shrinking the rest by too much?

Sit in a warm bath in your jeans and let them dry on you, they'll settle to your body.

1944 501s have a double stitched inseam right?

The don't, where did you get that idea from?

  8. i just love the cut of the 55's...

i did try on the 47s but just not as crazy about the silhouette..

To be honest, neither am I, but I am quite muscular and they look ridiculously slim on me (also, I'd have to go for a size 38 stf, which hurts my pride, I'm not fat guy size...). The '55's suite me much better, but if I had your measurements, I'd sure be wearing '47's, just for the hell of it :P

  9. here are pics of my LVC 55 tagged 32x34. worn on and off over the last year with a cold soak and 2 hot soaks. i lost about 15 pounds so these are too big on me now so i may put these up for sale if anyone interested?

going to try a pair of 29x32 SC1947s as LVC only has as small as 30 waist in the London store in the 55..

    3 pictures..

Why not go for LVC '47? They're a lot smaller than the '55's. :-)

  10. The 78's are nice and they do complete the LVC range, but I would never spend that much money on a pair jeans that basically look like a pair of today's...waiting until they'll go on sale ^^ Speaking of which: I was given a brown leather LVC Type III 1967 jacket for my birthday, but I cannot seem to get any info on this. Anyone know if this is a genuine vintage repro or just LVC playing around with history?

  11. '67's are not like '47's, they are pretty roomy and high rise at the top and then taper down. '47's are not roomy at all and straight as hell.

Something completely different: any of you guys have any experience with the 'rough rinse' LVC's, thinking of getting me a '44.
