  1. Do imports require FSC chemicals in the states?

Been rolling cigs to get away from those because they do have a taste. And damn, a ten-dollar pack of Drum Golden Mellow has lasted all week, with no bottom of the bag coming anytime soon.

  2. Looks good, smitty. What size and what fishes?

I have an aquarium project in the works right now too. There's a 150 fatty in the garage but I don't trust it on my old floors. So, I'm doing a 55  Very little woodwork. I don't want to dump the time into such a compromise of tank size. Just a metal stand, which will be shelved out and canopied w/cherry. The plumbing is the real elbow grease, since I'm running a bunch of Lifegard tubes.

  3. Flash and Ignaurus, those are some clean looking fits. I like everybody's so far but those two are the fit type I envy. Damn skinny guys!

I didn't machine wash but I did tumble dry fully after a soak. Resoaked to help w/wrinkles and they are still damp. These jeans are going to work out just fine with a little waist stretching. I'm amazed at the sheer amount of shrinkage and leg twist with the 91. I was getting really worried watching them do the shrinky-dink thing in the tub.

Pics later, they'll be dry soon.

  4. Rkusmant, i love what you've done there, good work.

Jyoni, you could try holding off on the soak and strech them out raw?

I could try it, I just didn't want to tweak them before start photos. If nobody minds I could do it. The real work would be post-shrink anyway, after the start date.

  5. These are pretty nice jeans! It looks like Ryo and Hiro may have obsessed even a bit harder over stitch and detail quality for this special contest.

Nothing too custom here, just the pockets the way I like em, the extra loops, plus the brass buttons (rawed out to order, I imagine in a bowl of acetone). I had to go back to the laurel leaf and donuts because the new logo buttons could not be rawed out cleanly.

Now for some bad news...these are under spec for size, almost 1.5in/4cm or so.

I'm just going to bite down and shrink them after the 1st. The block looks good but I'll have to dip into the cheesy bag of tricks to get the waist. Jeans that just simply fit are more my thing nowadays, but I doubt any of us are strangers to reaming out a fit. I'm sure it will be fine especially with the weave on these.

I'll hold off on fit pics until after the contest starts.

  6. Looked up Blacksad, good tip. Odd that it would have lag time being released in its own locale. Les Bandes Dessines (listen to me lol) are so good. Okko is the most recent French import I'm following. Soleil flopped so hard here even though Sky Doll was good shit. They just picked the wrong titles, more bland Samurai glut and a sci-fi title that was more Humberto-Ramos-crossover-hype than a good comic.

Both tales #5 and Blind Sight are collected here. You can find this easily (as far as I know) so don't sweat the single one on amazon.

That cover is basically the art concept, heavy and rough negative b/w. The art delivers the flow of Leonardo being temporarily blinded and then hunting down the fool who would dare to blind him. The single issue of Tales #5 is far superior to the follow-up miniseries that was Blind Sight. It's all pretty good nonetheless.

Locke and Key has a sizable body of work but it's structured as a story with a beginning, middle, and end. It will be ending soon. I don't think it would be too formidable to catch up. How many 6-ish chapters are there now? Four or five maybe? Could be a little more...I'm not sure.

As far as a meager review from memory, I do recall an engaging stage of the tale when the youngest kid becomes able to wander as an apparition.

  7. Wow, Cotton you have good taste.

I haven't read any TMNT since Tales #5 and Blind Sight. It oscillates between brilliant and meh, but no matter what you can tell Lawson and Laird had a shit-ton of fun with the whole art concept.

I dropped Locke and Key after Head Games. I'd have to read it again to offer thoughts. Visually, it was a beautiful product before the economy crashed. I really loved the matte covers with gloss details...kind of like a brocade or jacquard of the world of comicbookery, haha.

  8. ordo, you should hunt down a copy of Multiple Warheads (I think there might some copies titled with "Warhedz"). It's only one issue. It should be a full-color ongoing soon, but that's been in the pipeline so long now that idk. Brandon Graham is getting more well-deserved exposure lately, so he might be too busy to do the pet project.

  9. damn, i havent been reading anything since finals.

dreading going to the comic store and picking up my pull list of 2 1/2 months.

any recs on new series? artbooks?

p.s. jyoni i owe you a pm, my bad, i saw it like a month later and then forgot/left on vacation.

No worries, it'll be here. Don't feel bad, as for me I still owe everybody free comics, it's just that they keep selling lol.

Can't recommend too much that is new...Reset was great at first then tapered off to pretty okay by the end. Alpha Girl is kinda fun.

  10. Nothing much happens here.

White Stripes at the Red Dragon bar rail.

Janet Jackson while installing doors at Lifetime Fitness.

Lots of Josh Hartnett but he's a local dude anyway -- first met him at the MOA theaters circa The Faculty and bs'd. Ran into him a few times with Scarlett Johansson. Took the third seat at me and my buddy's table at the last Rakim show, disguised in a watch cap and clear wayfarers.

Craig Finn and Tad Kubler are always down for some bs, from back in the days of the Lifter Puller shows.
