  1. kinda basically my whole issue with people wearing those wtaps vans. why not just wear something else. you ain't looking street or punk or military or whatever. maybe since those are weekend type khakis and you're wearing a black shirt (which is too young) you should try out a pair black mocs.

  2. I wonder if that kid is being ironic sometimes on purpose, because of the fact that his actual lifestyle conflicts his image so much. If that's the case then it's not really all that clever and actually pretty lame.

I just don't see the satisfaction in wearing something that doesn't represent at least some aspect of who you are or what you do or have done... maybe that's just an old fashion way of thinking but there's something honest and human about doing that.

  3. its also what these kids have as idols, kanye/pharell etc if your looking for who killed streetwear look no further than those guys, its a flawed argument only really dragged up by people who feel they have earned their stripes and think its time they were down.unfortionatly posting on a message board for 5 years or whatever dosent qualify you me or anyone else to be down and it shouldnt be about that as really it dosent mean anything. All its really about is enjoyng your gear and enjoying what your in to.

sorry seenmy but this is such a contradictory post.

you don't think that kid who picks up a pair of kanye's sneakers is enjoying his shit? I bet that kid is way stoked on it, but I bet you anything he doesn't know why it makes him happy.

I have a problem with that kind of blind or misguided consumerism.

that's all I'm getting at. We're having a discussion, no one's trying to prove anything about themselves.

  4. I do think there's an age factor with allot of the 'older' streetwear brands.

Kids are always gonna be about sneaks n' T's... but as they grow they want 'more'... well some don't (milspec)... and the guys behinds these older brands have grown up and their tastes have changed.

Take w)taps. Allot of the shit that brand is releasing nowadays seemingly goes against all that they did at their conception. I know the majority of kids stateside that want taps only want the 'safe' items of BDU's and T's but in Tokyo that shit just sits there, they want the more 'eccentric' shit that Tets doing.

Another example is the GDEH camp with Uniform Experiment. And hell Burton -> Gravis -> Visvim in an evolution of a creator.

The blind purchasing of a specific hype item is slowing down BUT it hasn't resulted in a change of 'taste' for the kids.

They still don't get the rise of Supreme was due to their clean understated designs. If you look back at their shit in the late 90s it was all muted and understated... I wish they stayed that way, but $$$$ is enticing, and the brand has lost its luster.

    I'm rambling.......

good ramble tho. kind of what I was trying to get at.. Like I'd give props to someone who wore those structures but maybe paired with some nice supreme cut & sew rather than a recent supreme tee or a hyped one.

n you're right about the w)taps reference - you see these "hype" kids wearing all the same specific pieces like the BDU's and college style font tees, you don't see em rocking taps denim or taps outerwear. it's too hard for them to get it and too expensive, so they don't really try to. I mean if they were really down for the brand they'd save up some cash and get a proxy and really try hard to track down the hard to find taps shit. no one wants to try that hard. they settle for taps graphic tees and the vans collabs thats easily found on forums or eBay.

It's basically just laziness thats fuckin it all up. no one wants to do research. no one wants to put in any real work.

  5. you make a good point

i guess its just cause i don't give a shit whether ppl change their styles or not (hell, look how i dress.....being "next level" never really meant shit to me)

so i'm quick to argue w/ somebody that comes across with comments like "its time to upgrade your style. that shit has been done"

I wasn't getting at that, i still love the look of streetwear.

I just think that a major part of the appeal was exclusivity and none of the outfits or gear being posted these days is exclusive to anyone. it's all just a formula of specific brands, trainers and denim. there's no switch up, just the same pieces constantly rotated around.

  6. To hit up the Mariners' game with the family..

    ..peep the signature, HOLLER!

    no offense 2 u solistik

but the US streetwear game is getting stale n crusty. no one wears anything interesting anymore - mostly cause everyone is wearin the same thing. i swear everyone wears those structures. everyone wears supreme t-shirts. no one wears anything unless it gets some invisible stamp of e-approval.

why i stopped looking at streetwear wdywts

  7. I'm 5'11 n I walk around at 170 but I'm cutting already down to 160 @ 165. when you cut your calories down to 1k and cut out most carbs you put your mind n body into starvation mode, it's crazy. but if im fighting I'll some more cals plus carbs so i don't end up gassin out...

i'm down to fight anyone near my 160 or i'll cut to 155 to fight MMA lightweight
