  1. HERE IT COMES!

I know this has been asked 100X before but.................I've just come into some money, and I'm looking for a cannon or nikon under $1,000 thats good for a beginner. What should I get, or be on the look out for?

If you want to go full frame spend $200 more and get a 5D + 50 1.8 for 1200 something. What do you want to shoot with it? Do you need a high framerate?

  2. Can anyone advise what I should do next time to reduce the "rings" around the sun? I'm just using a UV filter and post processing through Lightroom. Would a circular polarizing filter help?

BTW, it's harder to see it on this small pic but it's very obvious in the larger size. Also, it's a lot more apparent in JPEG than it is in RAW. Is this part of the JPEG compression process?

    Thanks!

This is lens flare. It may be caused by your lens, or by your uv filter. A crappy, uncoated UV filter could cause bad flare like that. Or, if your lens isn't the highest quality, that could just be the way it's flare appears. It is not a part of the jpeg compression process, though jpeg compression may worsen its appearance. A lens hood may help prevent that flare.

  3. Anyone rec me a new lens for my 400D? just got the standard 18-55 at the moment and looking to step my game up a bit. on a bit of a budget though so can't be super expensive..

50/1.4 is always a good option. What are your primary uses for the lens going to be?

  4. People who hastily post craigslist ads with misspellings, text in all caps, and incredibly ambigious ad copy. One ad I read today contained a misspelling of family. Making spelling mistakes is one thing, but failing to catch and correct them is another entirely. Do any of these people proofread their ads?
