I too think the boots look awesome. They don't look like the Packer at all to me. The Packer looks real cowboy boot-ish (in a great way, I think!)

Isn't there a White's "Traveller" or something?

Wear them to death and when you get them resoled with the sole setup you had originally requested, you can get them rebuilt on a different last if you still don't like the toe....

But, they do look great!

Is the suede not the same as the roughout leather?

In the Free and Easy "mr bootsman" mag there are some some Semi Dress

and Smokejumpers shown in "voyager swede" and "distressed swede."

(I'm really feeling the black/brown combo in particular.)

For anyone interested, I just called White's boots to get the skinny on the difference between the Farmer/Rancher and the Smokejumper.

Their answer:

the sole. That's it! The Smokejumper has the heavy lug sole, Farmer/rancher thinner vibram or "composite." I found this interesting and helpful. Carry on...

I'm trying to figure out the differences between the White's packer and farmer/rancher. In the tiny pics on the Whites site, looks like packer has a taller heel?

Anyone own a pair of either or can point me to some pics?
