  1. Did you buy them raw or one wash?

Also, these jeans take months to show any significant wear, assume that is what you are hoping for. Stick with them.

One wash. i love them. Dont get me wrong. They are unique itchiness and all. I can tell from the weight and depth of color that they will take a long time to cure.....ill stick with them....may even go after some more soon...

    thanks

  2. ...vertical streeaks are now more pronounced...These natural indigo jeans doesn't seem to be up to par with synthetic ones that fade easily. But color and qulaity-wise, they are topnotch!

I just bought my first pair last week and im in the exact same boat as you. I find the color now a bit different then what i expected but im a newbie.

I did a gentle wash cold cycle by mistake. I probably should have just done a cold soak. Im going to wear for a few weeks as well...see what gives....PS i did wear them while wet for a while and that really helped sort of mold them to by body. Although still a wider cut overall.

  3. OK ive taken the plunge on some high end stuff (APC<Sugar Cane< LVC) and now have to make room i my closet. I have three pairs of classic 501s which i dont need anymore. All orignal purchased at the Levis NYC store last year. each worn maybe once at best. They are all 36 waist and the length varies from about 33-34. They are the dark washed versions.

Let me know if intersted.... i guess i could take pics to PM if neccessary

  4. Just let them take their course break'n in. Wear'm baggy in the waist till they shrink. Thats what I do. So they're a bit baggy for a while the reward when they've broken in is worth the time and lack of washing/soaking. I would recommend go as long as you can before the first soak then a cold soak when ever you can't stand them anymore.

Thanks so much for the reply. I guess then you mean I should stick with the tagged 38 which shrink as per the tag, then go with a true 36 and do cold soak only to avoid any shrinkage.

The other thought i had would be buy an elcheop STF in 36 tag and do a cold soak to expirment to shrink the legs but not the waist. would anyone think that would be informative or just a waist of 40 bucks becasue the denim is so differenct?

. As for this pair of 1933's with tag 38" waist I already washed n dry'd once (i know its heresy) But ill take your advice from now on with these....as for new thats a good suggestion although they are huge when new (tagged 38 for a 36 waist).

  5. My advice is wear the heck out of them between cold soaks. Go as long as you can without soaking them. My experience with most LVCs is it takes about 10 wet to dry cycles to get full shrinkage. Most of the shrikage happens in the first 3 or 4 but DO NOT alter the length until 10 or so.

Just got my LVC 33's from cultizm-wow less then 2 days to NYC !!!!!

I love the light weight denim. ITs so comfortable...IM hooked!!!

So folks i want to buy more. But the 38 is a big large in the waist. Im rally a 35 waist. Based on the above will it take another 5 wash dry cycles to shrink (not sure bout the dryer)?

I appreciate further advise. Do i buy a 36 hard washed from japan and just strech the crap out of it? and never wash or just cold soak. In this case, the leanght may be an issue

Or buy a raw 36. And never wash. Does the raw LVC stretch out a lot like the APCs...

Continue to try and shrink shrink shrink the 36s....Thanks folks, too bad lvc is tough to obtain in the states.

the 66's, and 201s are calling me...

  6. If they are distressed, most likely the shrinkage is built into the garment. I say "most likely" because most distressed washes go through a full process to avoid variances - so I think you will be ok, especially if the shade of your jeans is lighter than rigid indigo blue... There may be cases of odd, anomolous partial washes i.e. unwashed with starch 3-d and sanding vs. resin or some other weirdness but should not be the case with LVC... There may be the normal slight shrinkage because wash/dry will tighten up the fibers as with any pair of jeans, but they should "stretch" back to where they should be after a little wear in time. Hope this makes you feel more comfortable about getting them.

Jjust started washing and working on my new 33's in a tagged 36 waist...What a great light weight denim!!!!

They are big big big.....definately at bit bigger in the wasit then standard STF tagged 36 or even my new eco 501 big E organics

LVC folks..i want to buy a new pair but the 36 are big....advise

I want a hard wash vintage but to go through japan would be a problem with returns....Options:

    1) i buy a 34" hard washed and strech the crap out of the waist

    2) Does the LVC raw stretch like say an apc. That means i could buy a raw 34 and strech it out...only if it would strech more then then the option 1 above.

    3) stick with the 36 in the raw (with the label that says buy 2" larger in the waist) and continue to wash and dry HOT. And try this at least 10 times....this would be based on prior postings which say you need at least 5 cycles of wash dry to really shrink them.

    Thanks for any advice...

  7. The sizing on LVC makes me sick...

i know what you mean..just started washing and working on my new 33's in a tagged 36 waist...they are big big big.....definately at least an inch bigger in the wasit then standard STF tagged 36 or even my new eco 501 big E organics

i hope i can shrink them up...others have posted in may take up to 10 wash dry cycles to finalize sizing..not sure about that buy ill be trying using the samuari detergent to avoid color loss

  8. There are 2 SC lines, the "standard" line and the sugar millet line. The standard line includes the 55, 66, 47, union start, etc., and is 100% cotton....the other line includes all the regional denims, oki's, hawaii, edo's, etc. and is 50/50 cotton/sugarcane fibres. Lots of info on their website www.sugarcane.jp

kbuzz - I'm sure if you look through the thread, you'll be able to find all the info you're asking for, and some pictures for reference. I don't think anyone wants to explain the cuts for the whole line to you, but maybe when you narrow it down to a pair you like we'll be able to answer specific question.

My apologies for the generalized question. Let ask a narrow focused one then. How do the okis fit compared to the 47s...Im skinny with a slight gut. thanks

  9. the BIG website and the selfedge website both have the different measurements of all different cuts of SC denim. im sure you can find the information that your looking for there. i dont know if you read all 83 pages of this thread but im sure there are some details that you might be interested in.

thanks for the sugestions...reading inches from a chart is difficult for this newbie to visiualize. what im looking for generally is , is one wider, is one high waisted or low rise...etc....that kind of think....

the other overall question would be why would you want these instead of the dated models...is it becuase they are 50 50 cane and denim and i think the others are denim only?

  10. Can anyone link me to a post which has discussed the cut and fit of the non "dated" canes, such as the okis, union star and hawaiis. Other then the cosmetic stuff, pockets, labels and things, im trying to get a handle on how they fit vis a vis one another and in comparison to some of the 47s, 55s and such.

I have done a search which reveals the cosmetic differences and i believe that the okis and hawaiis have 50 50 cane/denim. thanks in advnace

  11. The A means onewash and the N means nowash. The 400's used to have levi's style arc's on the back pockets prior to the lawsuit, the 401's have the circles. 400's are right-hand 14.25 oz. "masa" indigo (natural indigo). The 401's are natural/synthetic blend and 14 oz. I believe. The pocket bags, etc. are different too.

...I would go with the 400's if you have the option.

on a related sugar cane note- Is there a cut difference between the oki's, hawaiis and union stars. And how do these types differ in cut and fit (we know the cosmetic differences) from the year models like 55, 66 etc. thanks

  12. Can someone provide some assistance in ordering some stuff to the USA from both hinoya and earthlink.I understand i have to get an id from rakuten here at http://www.rakuten.ne.jp/gold/super-rag/info-en/#bottom

However, how do you then order from the vendor. Can you go direct to their site and somehow enter your id. if this is the process does anyone have any help on how to do this.

Or do you have to shop only through the superrag site which does not appear to be as comprhensive as the individual stoe.

    im at caledoniasoulmusic-tubes AT yahoo.com

    thanks in advance

  13. im confused. the 34 you couldnt fit, the 36 was still tight and you are still looking to get maximum shrinkage?

your right that was a poorly worded post. I have edited it accordingly.

What i ment to say is the waist on 36 was good but the legs are a bit large. The waist on the 34 was too tight but the legs were good. So i would like to shirnk the overall jean as much as possible in the legs. Should I assume that the waist will shrink also, but am not be too concerned becasue the waist will stretch out again...thanks

  14. So i purchased a one wash edo today. Im traditionally a 36 waist. Tried on the 34's and they were unwearable. the 36 fit well the waist. the legs are however, a bit too big.

So folks, for the newbie, to get max shirnkage in the legs ("i know your going to say they will stretch out anyway) with minimal fade (and keeping the waist) should i do a hot wash and hot dryer or just a hot soak. Frankley since im probably in between a 34 n 36 im not afraid of the dryer....thanks all. great forum.

  15. Id like to order some stuff to the USA from both hinoya and earthlink. I know there is a prior thread/post on how to do this but Ive tried a search but could find it. Could someone link me with a how to. Or any other info

I think this is the right site but want to be sure before giving out any credit card info: http://www.rakuten.ne.jp/gold/super-rag/info-en/#bottom

Can someone also confirm that hinoya will accept this before i spend the time putting in my info.Or as do you have to shop through the superrag site. If so, im a bit confused how to order a speciic size. some pages have box checks which is great but others dont. See http://www.rakuten.co.jp/super-rag/496131/637562/

How would one select a waist size?

Finally, what do you do after you get the id. I understand you add no. to a japanese website. But how do you navigate a shopping cart in japanese?

    thanks in advance

  16. Another newb question and yes i have used the search function. Can we safely say that consenus is, that to obtain maximum shrinkage on my 33's- ( i bought them too big) without fade, i should do a cold water shrink ( no detergent) and then hang dry. In other words, id like to shrik them as much as possible and avoid having them look like the 30 dollar mexico shitty stf in that ugly medium blue that i have.

Im not adverse to using a washing machine as i want to use these jeans. Any one have thoughts on cold water, with woolite dark, with or without no dryer?

Thanks again and im glad to be on this forum and apologize again for the basic queries

  17. sorry about that i was not as articulate as i should have been. I am looking to purchase both SC and LVCs. So given my 36 waist on top of skinney legs, i m concerned in both brands about waist sizing.

So opionins on both in this situation would be appreciated. i found the canes before realizing there was some decent lvc stuff out there. So no im looking for suggestions for both brands....

  18. If you think that Sugarcane 1947 is too full in the legs and ass you're not gonna find any LVC's with a cinch that you'll like. But anyway this year they make the 1937 501's and 1920 201's this year and out of these two the 1937 501's I think are slimmer one.

    buy them from http://www.cultizm.com

if this response was for my post then thanks. I did not mention sugar canes so im confused. I have not tired the canes...but would like to as well as the lvcs. Are you saying that the lvcs are wider in the butt??????????

  19. I just discovered this site and would appreciate any help. Id like to buy a few pairs of LVCs. Im slim in the legs but have a slight gut. So the waist is usually the widest part of my body. I can do raw or washed -assuming the raw is not shrink to fit. Bascially a 35/36 waist. So for the non-cinch is the present 47 the slimest?

I also think the cinch is cool. Can anyone reccomend a good starting point for a pair or two. Which of the 1933's, 1937 and 1890 would you reccomend.

Also would appreciate sources. Thanks again.

Im in nyc but have had no luck at any of the levis stores. only tiny sizes

  20. Newbie question here, but can somone reccomend a source for basic 501 lvc in the states. Im in nyc and tried the lexington ave store and its hopeless. Im a 36W x 33" and need a longer labled 32L or 34"

I see a lot of threads referring to culzism.com but since levis waist sizing seems to be all over the place id like to order from someone who can do a return.

    Thanks in advance.

  21. Hello All

Ndwbie to this forum. Im a life long 501 wearer and have begun to seek out some sugar canes after being repulsed by the recent offereings from the basic levis (not the lvc but thats another story)

Im thinking about the hard washed 47 and the edos. im a 35-36 inch waist and due to my slight gut, my waist is the widest part of my body. In other words skinny legs. I wear a 46 in the generic mexico/haitai made 501's. Can someone provide some sizing assistance before i drop some hard cash at history presv.

Id like to order the 36's but based on what ive read in the sc thread it looks like the ass and legs may be way to big. However, they dont make a 35. Does anyone think i can get away with a 34. Thanks in advance for any advice.

PS If its a shrnkage issue, i dont mind the washing machine and or the dryer although this may be sacrilege to some here
