  1. oh yeah... i forgot to mention the $$$ issue. shits generally a lot more expensive than in north america EXCEPT for cigarettes and alcohol (from stores).

The smokes are insanely cheap. In 2006 i could get a pack of decent smokes for 1 euro and you can get THE best smokes (Davidoff Golds) for 2.90 Euros.

Alcohol from convenience stores or grocery stores is also very inexpensive. There is a markup for alcohol in clubs, also be VERY VERY carefull for bootleg alcohol. It's very common that people get sick because of alcohol poisoning. I remember buying bottles of Jose Cuervo Gold (haha i know) for 35 Euros. The bottle looked sealed but, after a couple of shots you can clearly tell something wierd.

Aside from that, spend most your money on food, seriously :P

  2. Here are some pics from my trips to the island in 2004 and 2006..

  3. Depends what you are looking for. If you are looking for a very americanised touristy spot with lots of partying then your options are Mykonos (the new ibiza) and Santorini (a beautiful volcanic rock island). Aside from that, there are thousands of islands in greece and they are all beautiful. The beaches are breathtaking and the food is great. The women on the islands are far from what you may be used to in the US... just warning you.

All that having been said.... dont expect really high tech city infrastructure... Their highest speed internet is 1mbps lol. I come from Chios... I love it, as an escape.

Feel free to ask more questions ill try n help as much as i can.

  4. As far as shopping is concerned, an often overlooked little boutique is Substance on Saint-Catherine. They carry cool things... Wild and Lethal Trash (back in the day), De Puta Madre, Custo Barcelona and some other spanish stuff. Rooney in Old Montreal on Notre-Dame street is my favorite... Artful Dodger, Stussy, Alife, and many others. Reborn also in Old Montreal on St-Paul is kinda cool. Holt Renfrew for the really good stuff though. Thats downtown. Mann in old montreal on Viger for male grooming supplies.

As far as dining is concerned, i recommend Modavie for a good steak. Verses, Trinity, Queue Du Cheval, Deca77, Chez Toque, Rib n' Reef, Le Garcon, are all other restaurants worth mentionning but pricy. A lot of mention of poutine... I gotta admit its great. There is a place (i think it's called Garde Manger) that makes foie gras poutine and also serves deep fried Mars chocolate bars for desert.

Clubs that are "hype" are Time Supperclub, Buonna Notte, Globe, Tribe, Mile End Bar, Wunderbar in the W hotel. A nice place to chill is Suite 701 in the Hotel Place D'armes. The SAT has great parties too so look into that place.

Lots of nice art galleries in the "Latin Quarter" and on Sherbrooke as well.

thats all i can think of right now.

  5. Hey everyone. There is a great wealth of information on the denim forum here and i love skimming through it. Im wondering though if there has ever been a sort of Denim Primer, or a FAQ, or maybe even a tutorial/history of denim... Basically, some sort of ressource that has been posted here or on some other webpage explaining the material, stitching, selvedge or not, etc etc.

Thanks a lot, i hope there is such a thing!
