also, is there an alternative to the f380 fit with no backpocket stitching and 'normal' shaped pockets?
I didn't notice the pocket shapes until you mentioned them. I don't think they're that bad though.

I hope you didn't break anything your wife regrets you breaking.

Does anyone know if anywhere in Boston carries Alden boots? I'd really like to try on a pair of the Indys.

I was more talking about this tv analogy:
lets take your tv example, for instance. say i bought the same tv for 34% more than what you did, which is actually the difference in price between the contest jeans and the 660's. then assume my tv had 13 dead pixels after one month and you had only 3. do i have any more right to bitch than you do because i had a greater number of problems than you? is my tv of better quality because i paid more? of course not because there the same thing. i would just feel like more of an idiot because i paid more. you follow?I understand you're apples to oranges argument. You're saying that it's not fair to compare the 660s to more expensive premium jeans(apples to oranges), but that doesn't change the fact that these are $220 jeans. In the case above, if you paid 34% more and you had more problems, you would have a right to complain. If I paid 34% less than you, and I had the problems you had, I'd have the right to complain. We'd both have the right to complain because we both own the same tv, a tv worth the full price (whatever you paid), though I bought it for less. And this point is important, because it means we're not really compairing a $285 apple to a $145 orange, but rather a $285 apple to a $220 orange.
I think this discussion is getting a bit silly, but I think it'd be sillier to say that no one has a right to complain or that we're seeing these problems because these jeans were "only" $145. Most people would still consider $145 a lot to spend on jeans, and most people would be bothered if the stitching along the inseam of their jeans came un-done even if the jeans were $40 or $50.

I sized down one (sz 29) and the threading came loose on the crotch within a month. These have probably stretched since I shrunk them, but the waist on mine is still quite comfortable. Not tight at all. My RRDS (sz 29) and my Samurai 0500xx (sz 29) fit slimmer, and I've had no problems with either of those.
I think either there is an issue with quality control or the construction of the crotches on these jeans is generally not so good. I'm leaning towards the first, since some people haven't had any problems and other folks have. If that's the case, just chill out. People have the right to complain if the construction of their jeans isn't good. For the most part these jeans are wonderful, and I think everyone should have positive feelings about the contest in general, but no matter how much anyone paid (tyson, I really didn't understand your argument), those of us who have had construction problems have the right to complain. That being said, there isn't really anything we can do about it now. It's not like we can all get refunds or like we can all get new jeans (I don't want new jeans anyways).

Ok, so some people are having construction problems and others aren't. I already paid my money, and I've had too many good experiences with BiG to care about weak crotch construction. I'm just going to acknowledge this and move on.
Does anyone have any tips about how to reinforce the crotch area? So far I've just been sewing the fabric back together again and adding more stitching, but now the actual denim fabric is becoming frayed. Should I sew it up and add a patch of denim behind?

Love the fuzziness in that last pic. Great fit. I'm hoping I can soak mine and get them back that kind of fit.

I'm looking for a sturdy belt in a natural/tan color.
Should I go with the Samurai belt with the double prong buckles or a Tanner belt?
Any other suggestions?

its also nice to see a VA cat(gordon) with "indigo master" stamped on his picture in a japanese mag. kudos!
Gordon's from Virginia? That's awesome. I just assumed he was from New York or somewhere up North.

The fit isn't bad. It's just bad on certain body types. If it doesn't fit you well, I'm very sorry, because I love my Hawaiis to death.
Panda-san, get them hemmed. If you bought them from BiG, you can probably get them to chainstitch it. If not, just get a normal hem. I think it's better to have them be a length that you like and lose the chainstitch as opposed to hanging on to the chainstitch and being unhappy with the length.

My H&M Sliqs fell apart in less than 6 months. Towards the end of those 6 months, they felt so so comfortable, but in hindsight, I'd avoid them.

hmmm...for some reason, I feel like these just aren't stacking right? These jeans aren't as "form fitting" as I'm used to, and coupled with the straight leg and no taper I feel like they make my legs chunkier...is this all in my head or should I head to the tailor?
The rear view accentuates this "ballooning effect" below the knee thats in question...
Are you set on stacking? If so, get them tapered, because I don't think you'll get good stacking with such a wide leg below the knee. Then again they might look nice if you just get them hemmed with a break at the bottom and not a ton of stacking.

Yeah, what everyone else said. I once specifically walked through salty slushy mess to see what would happen to my jeans. It left a salt stain, but that came right out when i ended up washing them. If your jeans get stained by salt you can just soak the hems to dissolve the salt. Or even just wipe them down with a damp cloth or something. You won't lose much indigo.

I ordered mine on-line from the obenauf's website: http://www.obenaufs.com/index.php?cPath=33&osCsid=1d9556d1cab0be5e340cf0cb6f82272d
I got it awhile ago, back when I was thinking about getting a redmoon or some other kind of nicer wallet. Then I decided the thickness would probaby be too much for me. I already have a bad enough back as it is.

Good luck with that man. I can't believe someone would take your money like that and just keep the jeans.
Lately I've been thinking that my leather patch looked a little dry, so I applied some obenauf's LP.
I'm not certain that it helped all that much, but it does feel a bit softer. It might have also darkened the patch a bit.

It might just be me, but whenever I visit New York I see Nudies all over the place. But the stitching makes them quite visible. On the other hand, I don't see many of them at all in Boston.

i don't think lack of patience is the problem. in my experience defined honeycombs usually appear after one wear (starting from one wash state). no honeycombs after months = operator error. are you ironing between wears?
Seriously? Honeycombs after one wear? This has never happened to me unless the jeans were starched or quite slim. I've never experienced defined homeycombs after one wear.
I mean yeah if you're ironing them, then stop. But if you're just wearing them and you don't have creases behind your legs than just be patient. Or do crunches and sit with your legs crossed. Or ride a bike. Just do stuff.

Yeah. If you buy them snug they'll probably stretch. I bought mine true to my size and I haven't noticed any dramatic stretching.

Yeah. My pair has the same thing happening. I don't like it very much. It makes me look like I'm busting out of my jeans.
0 -
No. It won't ruin the jeans. If you really care, you can find a tailor that does chainstitching and have them hem the jeans. This way your jeans will still have a roping effect at the hem. Use the search function to find out about where to get jeans chainstitched in various cities, etc.
Also, this really belongs in the Small Questions thread, but really you could have probably found this out by using the search function or looking around through some threads.

what's the sizing trend for SugarCanes? Do most people go true to size, up, down?
If you have big thighs, go true to size. If you have skinny thighs you should size down. I guess it depends on what sort of fit you want, but if you have skinny hips and you don't want hip flare, size down until it fits your thighs.

Anti-fit is God's way of telling you to eat more carbs.

Good fit on the LVC's...I don't think anyone gets a good fit with Sugarcane's...they're so strangely cut. Not bad though.
I disagree. I don't think the cut is that strange. It looks better on guys with bigger thighs or a bigger ass. I guess it's more unforgiving than other cuts though, since someone with bigger thighs can always stretch his slimmer jeans out to something quasi-normal looking, but the hip flare will always look weird.
