  1. I have to say...I thought this particular episode moved rather slowly. And, they iontroduced 2 new characters (the french quater musicians) that I didnt think were very good actors. At least thats upon first impression. However, Carke Peters character is emerging as my favorite one. Trying to figure out of he killed that dude who was stealing or if he merely whipped his ass.

  2. ughhh fuck my achilles is really hurting me right now. Not even sure what happened. Woke up this morning with it kind of painful but nothing I couldnt shake off. I did my usualy 3 mile son the treadmil in the gym with no real problems but as I was lifting weights I noticed it was hurting to move from once bench to another. I usually do about 5 or 6 miles in the evening on Thursdays but I'm gonna rest today so i can do my 10 miler on Saturday, which i look forward to all week. I fucking hate these ticky tack injuries. Hope it heals quickly...

    Btw...anyone read this?

Finished it a few days ago. Not amazingly written but great descriptions of what it feels like to be immersed in running.

  3. I find Zahn's character to be high strung, obnoxious and a bit of an ass hole. But thats ok with me. I also dont take that as a que to stop watching the show. I dont necesarily have to want to have a beer with a character to watch him. In fact the character of the white boy who loves black music and basically lives and breathes music although he has no real talent isnt new. Zahn just kind of brings this goofyness to it probably cause of his work on teen flicks. I dont mind it.

  4. Jacked this Louisiana Alligator skin belt from my dads closet a few years ago (I eventually told him about it). Turns out the thing cost him about 450 and is a one of a kind. I never really wore it untill recently on my SEXFH05.

  5. Yeah you definetely need to give the show a chance to breathe here. The subject matter is obviously post Katrina and theres just a shit load of human stories that came out of that event. It looks like one of the storylines will deall with a struggling musician, lost relationships, etc.. Although the first episode was the lengnth of a film it was basically just an introduction to the characters.

  6. Thats one of the best things about it. The dialect is truly authentic on it. If they would've had those bullshit fake ajun accents (see Kathy Bates in Waterboy) I would've been done with it 5 mins in. One of the most unique things abouyt the city is the speech. Its a mix between french, spanish and just straight un New Orleans. Im glad they included it.

  7. Extremely well done. I actually did not think the pace was as slow as I expected it to be. The story clipped along at a good pace imo. As a New Orleans native I have to say everything was pretty much on point. The show caught not just the accents and the neigborhoods but the general feeling of New orleans which is extremely hard to do. And, not just the feeling...but post Katrina feeling. I know people just like teh father who was cleaning out the unliveable barn....shit fora few months I tried toc lean out my own home which was ultimately unlivable. I know people just like the broke ass musicians living from gig to gig. Then theres the people who live uptown with money like John Goodmans character, who love the city.

Show was excellent. Havent been this excited about a TV show in years. Cant wait till next Sunday. uim feeling like the first time I saw Sopranos for the first time.

  8. Fuck, I read that book on a regular basis. Add Jim Harrison, James Crumley, and Jonathan Miles to your reading list.

Yeah, After I read the book I looked up his other works and I learned that they have been basically critically panned and no one really seems to like them. Still curious to check his other 2 books out though. I'll check out those authors you suggested as well. For right now, this book caught my eye cause Im very much into running at the moment...

A little less the halfway through on this and its very easy reading. Not a bad read so far but provides very little as far as character and plot. Mainly the book was obviously written by a man who love srunning and put a loose story around the feeling running gives him

  9. I hate being the person to have the last 4 posts in here but....what shoes is everyone running in? Im currently wearing Nike Torch 4s, which I got when I was on a budget, but have served me well through several gym sessions, morning runs and races. However, Im thinking of an upgrade soon...prehaps the lunarlites Nike.

David Byrne/ Fatboy Slim - Here Lies Love

3 songs in so far and it reminds me of Broadway plays we had to study in high school....not as interesting as you would think considering all the collabs, the people involved and the subject matter of the album. Meh.

  11. Tried to think of something clever to say in response, but I cant. So the truth is...No...album is just generally boring with very little replay value. I'll try harder to be interesting next time....but its not like Meth, Rae & Ghost did.

  12. It took me about a year, but I went from a stout 220 last May and now I'm at about 172. All diet and hitting the gym about 5 times a week plus I took up running. Im thinking of dropping about 5 or 6 more pounds and starting a clean bulk program. Then begins the process of trying to find a good program I guess.
