  1. Check your PM.

    denimdad:

awesome collection i love suede boot or shoe alot,

Thanks for the report and if you have chance

can you take more pics of the whites and what width are those? I think i am getting those for my bday but doesnt know what size to get. I wear size 8 in redwing

  2. Picked up my Lone Wolf "Hunter" boots today...they look to be pretty well made boots overall. I'm not a big fan of the little kilty things so I took them off, but they do come with the shoes. Color in the pics is pretty accurate. They do fit on the large side, I got a 9.5 and even with my thick wool socks there's more room than the RW 875s in the same size. Width is definitely wider than a D. Comfort-wise, they're somewhere in between the 875 and the Gentleman Travelers out of the box so i'll probably add some thin insoles for additional cushioning. I'll be taking these to Eddie's in LA later this week for possible re-soling.

  3. I was able to buy a pair of Lone Wolf boots via proxy, which were just shipped out and are on their way. I thought about getting the "Carpenter" model with the Cat's Paw soles, but I already have White's in brown and also have black Wesco's on order so I got the tan suede "Hunter" for variety. Unfortunately these are only available with the crepe sole.

I'm going to be in SoCal in a few weeks so I plan to take these to everyone's favorite cobbler to possibly have the waffle soles replaced with leather along with rubber half soles. Got inspired by all the great customized shoes in this thread, as well as LeatherSoul's suede Indys. Props to Bill (custom RW/Indys), GregNYC (custom Indy's) and tmadd (custom Indy's) for their creativity. Took a chance on the LWs since obviously I couldn't try them on. I'm a 9.5 in Indy's and RW and that's the largest size they come in so I've got my fingers crossed...

  4. So I just really got into real quality denim since Self Edge opened and I picked up a couple of pairs of Sugar Cane Okinawas and Iron Heart 624S. I was wondering what other brands that you might know of that would actually work with my wider legs.

I remember going to American Rag and trying on like 8 different pairs of denim and coming out empty handed. Most wouldn't go past my thighs.

Try the Dry Bones Guitar Wolf jeans. I have sort of "athletic" thighs so I can't pull off the really slim cuts too well, but I have a pair of these in size 32 (true waist is about 33) and they fit really well.

Not sure what sizes Kiya has left but I think they're worth a look. Can't beat those lightning bolt arcs...

  5. Selling a practically brand new pair of 8" Frye Engineer boots in Gaucho, size 10. These feel a bit big and probably fit closer to a 10.5.

Have only worn them outside once, and that was just to get the mail. Bought a pair of Red Wings and Alden Indys instead so these haven't gotten any wear time.

Retails for $198, asking $140 shipped obo. PM if interested. Click on image for more pics.

  6. SOLD

Selling my pair of Iron Heart 1634 black jeans. These are the heavyweight 21oz suckers, just perfect for the winter time. Despite the weight the denim is pretty soft. I have only worn them around the house a couple of times, never soaked and never washed. I bought these from SE not too long ago so no arcs and tabs. They are pretty true to the listed measurements, and according to the description these won't shrink much. Please note these are NOT selvage.

Not getting enough wear time in the rotation to justify keeping them.

    Waist: 33

    Length: 34

    Leg Opening: 8.5

Retail = $265, asking $200 shipped. PM if interested. Click pic below to view more photos.

  7. I'm considering a pair of 872s, and have looked up the measurements and seen pictures. But, I wanted to get an idea of how they fit IRL. I'm a true 33 waist and would probably get a 33 since I understand these are sanforized.

How is the fit in the thigh and knee area? loose or snug

Is there any kind of taper from knee to leg opening?

Does the leg opening appear large or small when wearing shoes

Does the denim stretch much? May size 1 down depending...

    Thanks for any feedback.

  8. Here are some pics earlier in the thread from Datasupa and GregNYC

ok, I'm on the white's semi-dress boat now as well.

Chicken or Bill, will you please post more pictures wearing the boots?

Chicken, those White's look pretty good, less hobbit-like than mine, partially because of your double-leather sole and the raked heel angle. Here are a few of my whites, including with jeans. I think this winter I'll get White's Smoke Jumpers (at bottom):

so i received my white's semi dress recently. my initial impressions are somewhat more favorable than gregnyc's, i think.

the leather smell out of the box is overpowering and intoxicating

    the leather quality seems superb

the fit is somewhat snug, given that the boots are made to measure--i think they are supposed to start out snug and conform to the foot over time. or i screwed up the measuring. all in all, pretty comfortable.

i like the overall style. it doesn't seem overly duckfooted and i don't mind the width of the welt. the heel is a bit underslung but it's supposed to somehow be more ergonomic that way and allow less fatigue. the sole is sloped a bit--feels reminiscent of dansko's almost.

the look oozes authenticity and seems very legit workwear. i could imagine some of those workers in the pictures in paul t's old photo thread wearing them. that thought appeals to me.

some pics---i tried to capture the color as close as i could to the actual color, which i thought was much darker brown in real life than in greg's pics (of course his could be different color due to variation). the last two are with flash and the rest using natural light.

  9. For everyday use I wear a pair of Samurai S3000vx. I'd really like to break in the S510xx 21oz I've had for a few months and the S5000bk's I just got, but the 3000s are just so damn comfy...for me the looser cut works really well for daily wear.

  10. meh...white arcs just aren't enough to make me hire a proxy.

Speaking of arcs though...if BiG were to sell the new S3000BK...I guess the arcs would have to stay? Unless someone is going to sit there with a toothbrush and scrub them off!

Actually I bought my 3000s from BiG back in June. The painted arcs were intact but there was no red tab. That stuff is stuck on there pretty good. I tried to scrape off some of the material that extended beyond the pocket but didn't have much luck without a bunch of denim going along with it.

  11. I usually take a 29, and the models I own list it as 73.5-77.5, but the 3000BK lists is at 72.5-74.5...which, now that I've looked, is the same as the indigo version of the 3000. Does anyone own the indigo 3000?

This picture made it look as though there was no coin pocket...together with the ambiguous translation...

I have the indigo S3000s in a size 33, lot 10. I bought them true to size and after 4 months and 2 washes they fit comfortably in the waist and and a bit loose overall. Probably could have sized down 1 and gotten away with it but I preferred a more relaxed fit.

  12. By a lot. I ordered a pair of SDAs from C-point and paid $190. When take5 quoted me a price it was like $280. That's BIG prices.

Yeah Take5 is more expensive for sure, but the 20% VIP discount takes some of the sting away. They usually have pretty good availability (in my experience) so I tend to only use them in a pinch, when I can't find what I'm looking for anywhere else.
