  1. Anyone on here sport a Lee 91-B? In pictures this is my favorite denim jacket, but I've never actually seen one in person--much less seen one on a person, being worn.

I gave a friend of a friend a 91-b I found @ goodwill for 3$. Had I known at the time I could (SHOULD) have sold it to someone I would have. It is rad, blanket lined, with Storz' beer patches on the front and back. I believe it was a delivery drivers since Storz was an Omaha brewery.

Once its winter, I'll see if I can't nab some pictures of my friend wearing it for you.

I have plans to buy one from Rakuten as soon as it cools off a touch.

SURLY- You had one, or was it one I traded to you or something?

  2. (random)

About a year ago I found what looked to be a wards diffusion brand called 'superdenim' childrens jacket.

It was a childs jacket, but still I should have bought it.

I tried finding info on the brand afterwards, but obviously 'superdenim' , 'wards' , 'denim jacket' ... all yield results mostly to do with this forum.

As I was scanning through this thread for the umpteenth time I thought how cool it would be if I could track one down again.

  3. The likelihood of finding NEW vintage denim is slim, or even worn vintage denim.

I've found a handful of vintage pieces, most are nothing to speak of... but I have a pair of youth 501's from the early 60's that I wore for a while. After 3-4 wears I realized I was putting a lot of strain on the jeans, and had damaged the paper tag.

so wearing vintage stuff sort of kills the things about the pieces I appreciate.

And like whats been mentioned Repros are easier, if you find a cut you like you can wear the hell out of them knowing you'll be able to get another pair should something happen to them.

with actual vintage, if you screw them up their screwed up and its highly unlikely you'll be able to find what you want at as reasonable of a price.

all that being said, millions of 501's were made. I say if you can find them wear them... don't be that guy who buys a MINT copy of the first pressing of a beatles album and puts it on display and doesn't give it a single listen.

  4. No offense to the others but i think ROY is on a completely other level than the others mentioned.

absolutely... that is why I bought from him.

A gent was just doubting America's presence in terms of denim, so I mentioned brands that were making jeans from American milled denim in America.

  5. I think they are the same as mine... No big deal.

Roy, that denim line up looks good. That shirt that ROY is wearing is nice. Did he make that? Is it flannel? I'm jealous.

edit: I suspect this thread is gonna blow up in about 3-4 days.

It is pretty rad, it looks a lot like vintage Big Mac IMO.

I found this jacket, and all the details are slightly different than whats posted on redcloud. I was assuming its because this jacket is not a 101-J, or its a youth jacket.

I was just curious if anyone familiar with Lee could shed some light.

    thanks

  7. I was wondering if there was a similar thread for LEE jackets?

I maybe found a youth jacket at a local thrift store, the details make me think its an older 101 but I wasn't sure

    I didn't have a camera w/ me

but here are as many of the details that stood out as I can remember

all cap LEE on all of the buttons in a style I hadn't seen, and not on this thread

the back buttons for the side cinch were a reddish brown and sewn on with blue thread as opposed to the metal ones you usually see. (the only time I'd seen this prior to today was on a 91-B I foolishly gave to a friend who could fit the size 40 )

I didn't see any selvage, but i've heard some of these brands covered up selvage on jackets?

I hid the jacket in an area where it most likely won't move (behind some books in a corner) to be safe

If its still there in the morning I'll KOP and share pics, just didn't know if any one had any ideas from this limited info.

thanks, and sorry I couldn't get search to work.

  8. I don't want to post a pic every time I wear my jeans, but instead I might just come in a post this each time... because literally every time I put them on its an ear to ear smile

:D (not trying to be cute, seriously they're damn good jeans)

the wait is WELL worth it, you won't be disappointed in the least.
