Alrighty, here are the post-soak pics of my 24oz-L! Quite an adventure, these things...
Obligatory... pre-soak standing pic?
Actual soaking in very hot waters... Note the steam in the pic.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T PUT THEM IN THE DRYER!!!
Unless you want to have an indigo t-shirt art project...
Obligatory post-soak standing pic:
Post-soak fit:
Overall I think the fit is nice. I probably could have gone for a 35, but since that wasn't a possibility, I'm satisfied that these will serve very well.
Here are the pre-, and post-soak measurements.
Waist: 36 -> 34
Inseam: 38 -> 35
Theigh: 14 -> 13
Knee: 10.5 -> 10
Hem: 9.5 -> 9

When I was in Sweden at the start of the summer, I definitely saw a lot more of them there than I have in the US (which is all of 2 people not employed by denimbar). I did, however, see a lot more people in Levi's than I expected.

Belts
in superdenim
So due to a 40lb weight loss since getting in to denim, I'll be needing a new belt before long... With ALD under and their belts no longer available, what's the closest option for a black belt (at a similar price point)?

No fades or anything as in the pair a couple of pages back, but I'm looking forward to getting some good wear on these once it gets cooler again...
Here are some pics of the new 24oz'ers.
The fit is quite loose at this point, but I think they'll shrink up nicely. Besides, the next size down was crushing at the waist already. Amazing material on these things.

On account of the weight loss, I'm selling a couple of pairs of jeans (which were apparently vanity-sized when I bought them).
So, on deck we have the LVC 646 bell-bottoms: $40 + shipping
Hot soaked for the initial shrinkage, and worn for about a week.
Waist: 38"
Theigh: 13"
Knee: 9"
Hem: 11"
Inseam: 32"
Also up, the 11oz ALD Novelty: $40 + shipping
Worn for about a month, and ocean washed in the Caribbean.
Waist: 38"
Theigh: 14"
Knee: 12"
Hem 11"
Inseam: 33"
The named pic...
PM me if interested

A couple of questions...
I asked Gordon a while back if they plan on making any more 24oz, and he wasn't sure, so I wanted to ask if anyone here had heard anything regarding this.
Secondly, I realize that they may not be the general tastes of most here, but does anyone have leg measurements for the 4000? 2nd is the only place that I've seen any, but they only have the theigh and hem, and that doesn't really give a good idea for a bootcut.

I'd rather wait til January to start, otherwise VERY interested. There's been talk of a '44 contest after the STF contest ends, so maybe the people who are interested in that, could be merged here.
I'm sure Dejan would be pleased about it. He put up the prize '44s with the hope of a fresh contest coming together in '10. However, with the economy in the shitter for a big chunk of potential contestants.....who knows if it would even happen.
I'd be interested in this as well as I've had an unworn pair of 646 sitting in the closet and figured they'd be the next out after the 501 contest is over. I have a feeling that I don't stand a chance at winning the '44s, so I'd go with those.

I love how easily identifyable Samurai's LHT denim is. You don't even need to post what the jeans are, but just by looking at the fading you can tell what material they are.

They look really nice. Here are mine at 2 months:

Mavvy: if you don't like the pocket-bag lines (and don't use the front pockets), a tailor should be able to remove the bags without issue.

I like how you're not going slim, very unique.
Unfortunately, it is fairly unique. I like the fit, and the denim looks great. Very cool to see an Okinawa with a cinch-back as well.

Yeah, not a lot of fading for 4 month dry japans. Hold out as long as possible.

Not a lot of fading for dry japans at four months... I'd say hold off if you can.

As with the 21oz releases I am sure they will later release a s5000 cut 24oz denim. S510 is there most popular cut (believe it or not) followed by the s5000 cut, so that is why you most often see those two cuts on collaborations and "special" denim releases.
I don't find it hard to believe at all that the 510 is the most popular. It's a regular cut, and, I would think, most people don't wear their jeans as slim as is popular here and on other forums.

Thanks for the comments.
wait, you COULD fit the jeans, but a bit tight, then you lost 30 lbs and they fit good?what? did you cut off a 30 lb tumor on your shoulder or what?
They were actually very tight at the waist. Even fully stretched out they weren't comfortable to wear (the top button even started to tear away). But when I lost 30-35 lbs, that also took off about 3" from my waist and now they're perfect. I bought them before anyone knew anything about the sizing being different from the other Royals, so I had inadvertantly sized down about 4".

I do think the jeans have an awesome hue and it's crazy how close and parallel your lap folds are.
When I first got the jeans, they were too small and didn't stretch as much as I'd hoped. It worked out for the best though since I've been able to wear them since losing a bit over 30 lbs.

The detail shots show more shine than reality generally does. If your problem is just with ALD pockets, then that's too bad.

So, to answer questions, they're great. Yes, they're black on the inside. They fade very nicely, and it shows faster because of the black weft, which also makes them get very shiny when worn. I'd say that if you can get a pair for $85, then jump on that.

Very true. Just in handling the 24oz, then picking up a pair of my ALDs, the 14oz denim feels so insubstantial by comparison.
