  1. i think some of the silhouette looks very much like jil sander's times. which is great i think. i do have some of the pants from that era that look almost exactly like what raf put out.

raf is doing a great job there imo, it offers people who wants subtlety and quiet sophistication, just the little minor changes here and there that you may not immediately notice, is enough.

  2. the women's stuff is much nicer... the fat stripes are pretty outdated yeah?

    ditto on the stripes.

i remember he used to present homoerotic runway or presentation of his work but those were rather cool.

this f/w 07 is rather boring, save maybe for a few white shirts but they dont make me go crazy as well.

and neither the styling nor the silhouette are interesting.

  3. hhmm, unfortunately i do not have any scan facilities else i will scan it for you.

but they can be found in the latest copy of huge magazine though.

i know there is also a previous one, also from the same line from margiela from a tailor in kyoto and that one looked superb but i could not find it anywhere now. i think the concept is to look for good suits around the world and replicate them. it's all very intriguing to me.

this is something i have always liked about the brand.

ok, i will seriously think about getting to HK and get a MTM suit :)

how much do they cost anyway?

  4. I find Margiela suits to be of better quality than comparably priced designers - Jil Sander, Dior Homme, Helmut Lang, Raf Simons. The cuts tend to be more of a traditional fit and not as slim as JS or DH, but the detailing and materials are impeccable.

Everyone needs at least one Margiela suit in their life.

    cool.

thanks for the answer. i have helmut lang suits from the real helmut lang time and i loved it and do owned some margiela but they are all ready to wear casual pieces so i dont really know how margiela fits.

in fact, all those brands you mentioned, jil sander, lang and DH are all i like and will wear. It's good to hear margiela is best amongst them.

    thank you guys for replying.

    cheers.

  5. hi guys

i would like to have some opinions before i invest on a Martin Margiela suit.

    Are they any good?

i know they are different from your Brionis and Saville Row in terms of look but what exactly is good about it, i am just not too informed about his replica suits...

the latest one, if i am not wrong is the replica on an old Hong Kong tailored suit, for instance.

And what are the difference between the replicas (line 0 and line 10 if i remember correctly) and the regular mens Line 10?

Would appreciate if guys who are informed can help out on this.

    Many thanks.:)

  6. And you're on a fashion message board?

Anyway, I like 'em. Although as stated, there are tons to choose from with a lot of them having different uses and looks. I really like the Jas Mb traveller bags, something like a carry all, that I can take on long weekend trips and not have to carry some suitcase. Another item I think would be quite useful (atleast for myself) is a portfolio case/carry, I think Mulberry makes a nice one and it doesn't hurt to have that extra professionalism 'look'.

    Mulberry portfolio

    mulberryfolio.jpg

    totally agree with goldengloves...

i personally think margiela makes some great bags, artisanal ones or not.

    collection privee?

    jas mb

    jack spade

    raf simons

herve chapalier (if you wanna look slightly different from the eastpak crowd and the quality is really not too bad, although french boys and girls themselves carry eastpaks!)

i think none of the above look or feel gay at all.

i have seen jude laws or hidetoshi tanaka carrying balenciagas and LVs and they dont look gay as well.

so i think it all depends on the person.

  7. think it will have to by my margiela slim jeans and wool turtleneck.

the black woolen turtleneck has been with me for the longest time and the shape and everything stays, i am expecting the same goes for the jean.

strange thing about margiela is that i have bought stuff from them and there are quite a few pieces i have never wore and i doubt i will ever wear them, color might be too garish or design too avant garde but i still have to have them somehow.:P

recently eyeing 2 margiela jackets but both are not cheap (arghh!). can somehow tell me should i buy it?

one is brown leather but seems very prone to scratch...

another piece i absolutely love is the carol christian poell tailored jacket.

love the puffed should pads, but again, i know i wont pull it off well, so i probably will never wear it too. but the tailoring is superb. anyone who knows carol christian poell will probably know what i mean.

  8. Hello fellow superfuturians, I've been searching near and far for a good pair of slim fitting slacks. I am aware that banana republic makes one, but the fit is just too loose. I need something thats a bit more slim fitting than that. For reference, something closer to Nudie's Slim Jim fit. Thanks in advance chums!

there are some in tokyo, if u can somehow lay ur hands on them

    american rag cie x dickies

    very cool nice fit.

    :o

  9. Went down to "the 'Qlo" after work last night, and was kind of underwhelmed.

    Here's why:

Everything is 39.99 from what I remember. Shirts, Jeans, Anoraks, etc...

The fit on the Anorak and vest was pretty spot on, but the quality and detailing on the jacket looked a bit sub-par, and kinda "GAPish" now that I thinkabout it. There was one Black Anorak left in M that I contempplated purchasing, but after thinking about it, I decided against it.

The jeans look OK, but the denim is thin, and again, I'm not feeling the detailing. The sizing was a huge problem. It seemed impossible to find a "Medium" (32/w) that had a 34" or longer inseam. They were all 32". I didn't even look for a small with a 34" inseam, but that seems doubtful as well.

The button-up shirts look nice, but I have a black 2 pocket cloak military longsleeve shirt already I got for 40 bones from the sample sale so I passed. The detailing is what you would expect from Cloak, and was far better than the other pieces. The grey stripey one and the all black were the ones to pick-up.

Vests were only white, but they fit well. I don't fuck with white vests, so another pass.

Didn't even need to take Polo's off the rack. I hate them.

    I don't wear shorts.

    That about covers it.

Seems like the vests and Anoraks are going real fast. They might restock, Plenty of Polos, shorts, and jeans still.

Have a look and post up your thoghts...

got the stuff today. didnt have time to run to their stores and ordered online so sizes was a little off...

think the only worth getting ones are the grey with black stripes shirts, nice detailing...

    and the nylonish jacket.

the shorts which i also got, was nothing special and runs a bit long for an s.

the jeans have nice design for the back pockets but other than that, its just ok.

think i will probably be back and get another of the M size for the stripe shirt.

verdict: value for money. while i wont usually get the regular uniqlo stuff, i will buy these.

they had a past designer's collection by iliad and that one was better, imo.:D

  10. going to taiwan and japan, any suggestions on where to go?

fashion wise, there is margiela, and undercover recently opened in taipei recently.

but then if you are coming tokyo, i think there is very little that taipei has to offer that you cannot find here.

  11. Is this expected to sell out like the viktor rolf at hm?

i doubt it, at least not in japan, uniqlo didnt have much success with the designers invitation project somehow. the recent ones like 3.1 philip lim is doing fine and i think so is plokhov, but japanese dont seem to appreciate it such spin offs as much as the folks in the west. i would love to see the reaction in ny though.

incidentally, quality viktor n rolf for h&m is actually not too bad, i got the shoes from london the first day it was launched (man, was it a long queue!) and a coat (and some undies which i gave to my friends as souvenirs) which i can foresee myself wearing it for a few more couple of seasons.

ps. the kate moss for topshop will be launching in tokyo may 25.

  12. You're right, it isn't (my mistake!), and that's why the threads are tagged "fw07" since the season begins in 2007 (fixed my post). Next year, for Fall/Winter 2008-2008, they will be tagged "fw08" since their seasons will begin in 2008.

    hi servo2000

thanks. i am really glad to read this. i am beginning to think that if this is just for denim and its lovers (ok, pardon my nick...)

hope to read more stuff on margiela, carol christian poell and the likes in here. i love fashion although i cannot sew nor sketch.

    thanks again.

  13. I just recieved the black vest today and the quality is amazing. It looks and feels like a cloak piece, the stichwork is perfect. Extremely happy, I think I am going to order some more off the website as well, rather than waiting for New York on the 25th. Sell out quickly you think?

glad you like your vest, but i am not really a vest person, so i pass on that. what else did you order?

it will sell out soon i think. when i ordered, already colors and sizes arent complete.

i think uniqlo after failing to hit success with the first season of their 'designers invitation project', they have realigned the marketing, with limiting it to certain stores, hence limiting availability/ accessibility. this seems to work; the harder it is for people to lay their hands on, the more they will want it.

  14. ^^ With Mickey D's and other American fast food changing the diets of the Japanese...they probably are.

sorry but i beg to differ. japanese have grown taller and bigger but still it doesnt warranty producing smallest at 32. correct me if i am wrong, but europeans are not very big as well eh, vs americans...and now that uniqlo has ventured out of japan, this could be because it is trying to cater to the international market? i dont think it is valid, but still it doesnt make sense, 32 is big.

anyway, getting back to topic, i just ordered online and it will be delivered to me this sat.. i will then check and see if they are any good.

i love cloak but am somehow surprised alexandre is now overseeing versace menswear.

  15. i live in tokyo and japanese have like hundreds of hair products for guys, the big names being gatsby and shiseido etc but apparently the favourite often recommended is a brand called nakano if you can find it at your local store, i suggest you get it. it really does work.

  16. Brown's and Aloha Rag are the only two stores at which I've been able to locate them. Aloha Rag is completely sold out, and Brown's only has 6, 7, 11, and 12. I'm going to keep searching, but I'm not holding my breath at this point. :(
    Colette Paris have these.

    thanks guys.

hope i ll have a chance to go europe next month.

else, i ll have to try getting them online.

  17. this thread should be in supershopper... seriously... superfashion =/= supershopping

Collection Privee? has got some nice bags.

    and dolce and gabbana also.

i personally like the artisan stuff from martin margiela, little pricey but they look really good.

    :P

  18. Thinking of ordering a pair of jeans from the uniqlo webstore but I have a question about sizing. Most of what I've read says that they are pretty true to size. However, the size chart on the website has confused me a bit.

    http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http://store.uniqlo.com/size/u52104.asp&langpair=ja|en&hl=en&ie=UTF8

    Size Chart

For example, the size 86cm (34") has a waist size of 90cm (35.4").

Should I still get my true waist size or size down one?

not sure if i understand you but i am a size 29 and i wear 76 for uniqlo. for the slim jeans, which is the only bottom i have bought from them so far, that would be one tad fitting but that is probably cos my legs are slightly thicker...

    hope that helps.
