^ you can't go wrong with either, some versions of the natural CXL Indy have all around welt stitching which may be a factor, also the natural CXL will be harder to find in your size so there may be a 3-9 month wait. the 405's are readily available

Belts
in superdenim
so after considering all the fine leather artists here, I ordered a belt from Hollows b/c I already had a nice 9-10 oz belt and wanted my hands on a 14 oz one which he offered. It was a great decision as I received my belt today and it is fantastic. Here are some obligatory pics:
top view of the belt, note how the part that is curved back is thinned to reduce the "bulge" that people sometimes get with thicker leather belts
I normally don't like logos but requested it in this case as it went well with the design.
thickness compared to an older 9-10 oz natural tan belt I bought on eBay from "BK Leathers" a few years ago. the old belt is going strong, but it's nice to have the upgrade.
Thanks Hollows! P.S. I ordered the belt without a buckle and used one I already owned so don't bother Nicholas requesting that buckle

We used to demand quality, unfortunately all we demand now is a bargain. And that is what is being supplied.

I was browsing the net late one night and came across a natural leather iphone4 case that was cut out of one piece of leather that folded around and closed with a snap on the back. It was $75 or so. I didn't think to save the link where I found it and now I can't find it again. Did anyone of you craftsman here make that? Or can anyone who knows what I am talking about provide a link to the item?
But more importantly, has anyone here made an iphone case out of natural leather that is relatively slim? If so I would be very much in the market for it (my silicone iphone condom is starting to annoy me).

well I'm 5'10 and there is still 1-2 inches of stacking if the jeans are slouched, the problem is that they are too tight overall, they are a great pair

^ "olive" colored french calf modified last plain toe boots. a rare find from the shoemart seconds list a year or two ago.

My not so humble "boot" collection. All boots have been worn except the two #8 tankers. Also I no longer own the black calf NST tankers but they belong in a good new home now. If you like the pics I can post a few more.

I had my 005bk's tapered a bit from the knees down. It was done in a way that the selvedge line became wider but overall they look a lot better since they were way too bootcut for my tastes originally. I got them because I really wanted a black pair, otherwise I probably should have gone with a different cut.

I was about to give up on my BSP's today when I did a last effort soak and wore them from damp to dry. Finally in the last hour or so they started to ease and are more comfortable than pre-soak.
take my advice: do not size down on these gentlemen

^ if you want the edge to be darker (like it was when the shoes were new), my suggestion would be to take some really fine grit sandpaper, and lightly sand the edge so that it feels smooth, then take dark wax, black or brown and rub it liberally on the edges.
if you want them jet black, then I would still sand them a bit, but use edge dressing (a liquid sold at shoe repair shops for just this purpose, in black) and use a q-tip or small paint brush to paint the edges. the brush in the bottle is very large and messy
by using shoe wax some, the layers of the leather shows through which makes the shoes look better IMO. I would only use edge dressing on dress shoes.

^^ I'm not an expert on shoe construction, but I'm sure that for Aldens, all models are Goodyear welt and will have the same durability in terms of water resistance and ability to be resoled, the only difference is looks. Different types of welts have been discussed before I am sure, but if you are only looking at Aldens, just pick the welt you like the look of the best and don't worry about anything else.
