  1. gimme, those jins look great--far better than i was expecting. its making me rethink my next purchase--i was so close to pulling the trigger and joining you all on the USA voyage, but i have to tighten up my finances over the next few months.

by the way hebay, i love the 500s so much that i'm breaking in two pairs--one looser (by sufu standards) with stacking, the other tighter and hemmed. its a beautiful cut, and with the texas cotton--come on, its a magical pair of pants.

  2. Flat Head does produce everything else in a 36, with the F380 in both 35 and 36, and the F350,F370, 1005,1007,S5005,3009 in a 36.

Excellent point, my friend. It's likely that the F380 is more what I'm looking for anyway. I could do a 34 easily, but I'd prefer a 35--perhaps SE will stock the 35 in the next round. That's a good look.

  3. while we're at it, askin' about restocks....

whens the next FH310 restock, particularly in sizes 30/31?

That's a decent question... Even moreso, I'd be interested to hear why these aren't stocked in 35 or 36. Even Chubb Rocks deserve to be treated right. I'm 3/4 of the way done in my preparation of a discrimination suit as I type this.

BTW- I'm loving my flathead chambray--probably my favorite shirt these days. Thanks SE

  4. Alright, question for everyone who owns Samurai Texas Cotton jeans out there. I did a few hour soak. It's clear that these will fit, serve their purpose and whatnot, and so on. But, they're really weirdly stiff, a lot like when I wore the S5003s without a soak. Is this just the denim, or is there a fair bit of starch left in these? If it's starch, time for a quick wash.

I'd say it's a bit of both. It's a starchy denim and a stiff denim (at first on both counts). It took a couple of full washes before I was confident I got the starch out. They will stay stiff for a very long time unless you use the dryer, but you can soften them almost immediately if you put them in the dryer. I love the Texas Cotton.

  5. both. same denim. down 2 for the texas cotton to in my opinion.

I STRONGLY disagree with the ideas of sizing down 2 on 0500s--I've never heard this idea forwarded before. I'm with cheep, sized down 2 on 0500s would fit like scuba suit pants with a fly that doesn't button all the way up. Some dudes think that looks good though... but it ain't me babe...

  6. I'm just not feeling the buckle back. I saw the prototype in person though, and they're sweet. Just not for me.

That's pretty much how I feel. I like buckle backs, I have a few, but I need to have something more "ideal" to temp me to drop 285 balls.

  7. but hey, looking at clark's video carefully. looks like ruiz was doing abit of acting himself. sure the kick was hard, but it didnt look like the foot hit his head at all.

Ruiz is among the worst floppers that I am aware of in the world. There's nothing that compares to him in the EPL--even when Brits would whine about the antics of Drogba and Ronaldo, they were nothing compared to Ruiz. What's worse is that he plays his BS out at the international level as a Guatemalan international. He's a dirty, irritable, pest of a player that had it coming to him. I'm surprised he didn't get something of the sort earlier in his career.

Clark's kick comes nowhere near Ruiz's head. Take a closer look.

  8. If the thought of authenticity even crosses your mind, you're forcing it. We live in a post-modern society with a tremendous amount of access to different ideas, styles, cultures, etc. Naturally, we should be influenced by this access and these many influences. To me, being authentic is switching it up almost every day and fiiting in with that day's context. Day to day I could be wearing Borrelli and Incotex trousers, the next day baggy Evisus and Adidas Forums and maybe a Brooks Brothers sweater, the next day Samurais and a "workwear" shirt. And that's real--that's my reality. That's the post-modern world where we draw influence from anywhere and everywhere, sampling it and rearranging it to fit the current moment. That's how I play it.

For those of you concerned with integrity and authenticity, Superfuture is a perfect example of this post-modern influence... You access this world of ideas about denim, even if you are an "authentic" day laborer. 15 years ago, if you were a day laborer you'd buy your jeans at K-Mart, wash them on the reg, and not care about selvedge or fades or honeycombs--and you definitely wouldn't "talk" about these things with skinny asian dudes on the internet. Because time has moved on, because the world has changed, the very definition of authentic has also changed.

  9. My experience is that the 008s came in small--even smaller than the information posted on BIG's site (and I'm even talking about the updated information). I've only worn my one-wash 008s a couple of times. The sz 36s that I ordered arrived with a 34" waist (using BIG's measurement techniques). Luckily, I'm more of a true 35 in waist, and they've already stretched a bit--but only in the waist (as mentioned) and a bit in the seat. I posted pics in the how jeans fit thread a few weeks back. There was some talk that maybe this sizing problem was confined to size 36 models, but I'm not sure that's ever been confirmed by information here on this site.

  10. On some leve, I actually like the leaf. Unfortunately, I have been told that from afar iut looks like I have a piece of gum stuck to my bumski. Oh well, that's the breaks in this street game.

  11. Thanks for the feedback people. I should note the sizing did come in pretty screwy on these things. For the most part, I'm a 35 waist. Based on the feedback here and the sizing on BiG's site, I ordered a 36 rather than a 34 (I often size down to 34 on other brands). Using BiG's system, these came in at 34 inches in the waist!

  12. Fat guy alert. I know that many of you consider pics of fits above the waist measurement of 32 inches to be "distasteful," but in the interest of the public good I have come to bring you fit pics of the PBJ-008 in size 36. Before bringing you the pics, a few notes about these jeans. I purchased them one wash from BiG, so I think that most of the shrinkage should be taken care of. From here on out, I think it's more a question of stretching, and me and my nuts pray that they do. My impression thus far on these jeans is that I like the fit--minus the ball choking--but I am still uncertain about them. The denim is pretty thin, and pretty soft, and like some others I have questions about the long-term durability. The color is quite nice, but the combination of fit (lower-rise, etc), the thinner fabric, and the more "true blue" color makes these jeans feel a lot less manly than some of my others. I don't know, that's just a first impression that's subject to change. Maybe I just need to starch the hell out of them or something (and I'm not a starcher). In any event, on to the photos...

Oh, by the way, my girlfriend (who is reconsidering our relationship after taking "denim fit" pics of her boyfriend for the internet) was so amazed and amused by the crotch bulge that she took numerous up-close shots of it. Again, in the spirit of forwarding the common good, I've omitted these photos.

I will once I get the new 0500s. I think it will be quite interesting, but I think it will be a tough head-to-head, as my new joints will be hemmed and the old ones won't. With the sizes, it might be like comparing apples and oranges even though they are the same damn pair of pants. In any case, I'll do the head to head pics once I get them. As I mentioned before, this was unexpected as I just dropped a few hundred balls on some PBJ 008s (don't worry I'll post pics of them as well--should arrive tomorrow). Ah, life's dilemmas.

I could go for a grilled cheese right now.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I registered. The best sandwich of all time.

  14. What have I done? I got some 0500s from BiG in June and I love them, but they are just a size too big. They don't look bad, they just aren't optimal. Yesterday I had the opportunity to get the same 0500s size down (with arcs & tabs if it matters) for a good price and I went for it--rationalizing that I could sell the bigger pair. But just now, I looked at the bigger pair--I communed with them. They are just starting to break in, and I don't know how I can let them go. This is crazy. Anybody else have the same exact model of jeans in different sizes? I'm thinking I might keep the bigger pair in the drawer until I get fatter.

  15. I'm just being real here man... Those look absurd. You look like a woman with a sock stuffed in her crotch.

The first thing is that you've gotta size up. And I'd consider some different cuts to minimize hippiness--the 0500s are beautiful jeans--I have some myself--but they really aren't working for you here.

  16. The post-soak measurements are accurate for the 36s. They shrink a ton.

Jwied, thanks for the pics. Unfortunately my frame is nothing like yours, and I could never imagine wearing my jeans as tight as yours are in the photos--and that's not a knock on you, it works for you.

That being said, theetruscan, any way you'd be willing to help out the team by sharing some fit pics for those of us with 34-36 in waists and cyclists legs? The love will come back around my friend. Thanks.
