  1. ^ Nice pick-up Denton! Is that the one Farhad shot for?

    Rapunzel, great zoo pics!

Thinfinn - that second-to-last shot really could be a product shoot! Great work man - glad to see you are hooked! :D

    Xpost from RxC.....

So today was something pretty different for me - from a photography perspective. While I have taken some wildlife shots, they happened more by chance than by planning. This time around, I headed out early in the morning, with an acquaintance who is a professional wildlife photog - I met him earlier this year while out trail running. Today he took me around to some of his favourite secret spots.

    Early morning dew

Nice to see signs of spring!

We basically bushwhacked for hours, carrying a shit-ton of photo gear

Had a lot of close encounters with these guys

Came across the foundations of some old home - and what looked like a rust-eaten wash tub

Lots of these guys slithering about

This dude is amazing - he knows the habits of all the creatures. So we were able to approach a small group of deer having a siesta. They saw us, but remained pretty unconcerned -I took this shot from about 10 feet away.

I also got to see a pair of Cooper's Hawks in action. Very beautiful birds - and aggressive too! I got buzzed by the male quite a number of times. But it was worth it!

Now on number three - whew!

  2. Wow - congrats Doc! That's a beautiful beast!

Mike - beautiful (and mouthwatering) pic - must spread for ya both...

Robbie - want to see them right-side-out!!

Still have to sort thru shots of foxes, beaver, cormorants, etc....

  3. Uh, 'preciate it JW, definitely a pedestrian fit after six hours of stomping thru the bush. Comp was to hide all the burrs & muck :P

    This gets my vote

Ran along here in the rain.

  4. Awesome to see the thread explode with photos!

Paul - cool meetup! Did you wear your Roys to the wedding? ;)

    Dkatz - gorgeous shots!

Playing catch-up, as things have been crazy busy... Sleepover at the Science Centre, becoming a dog groomer, and long walks in rainy/in-between-rainy weather...

  5. Swing last has way more room in the toes, but is slightly "duck foot" shaped. I can fit D in the swing, but like denimjunky, need to go up in width for the standard last.

    Here are my new,

Whites BountyHunter in Horween Black Chromexcel

Davi - those are amazing! Congrats! Will get back here when I recharge! :)

    Sturdy-looking boots there, davichan!

Again, any ideas on what it is and how to remedy, if possible?

Great connies, CTB! I suspect you are seeing the factory wax treatment extruding. I get that a lot, mostly on cordo boots - it looks like a white haze. Take a blowdryer and gently heat, while buffing with a brush or cloth - it should come out.

What these guys said. Perfect mix between dressier SD and a wallabee. Love mine.

Since we're on the Russells (c'mon denimjunky, try them :D ), here's one of my oldest pairs. We bought them before going on a photo safari 5-6 years ago. I was initially doubtful, as I wasn't sure if I would get enough wear out of them, but no worries! They're the perfect summer boot. The sole is thin, for good "feel" and being able to walk quietly, and the nubuck has aged really nicely over time - they were much lighter to start with.

  6. Nice CTB! mitchL - congrats on your purchase!

I'm wearing one of my favourite shirts today ;) Sadly, partially hidden because the cold refuses to loosen its grip here...

I can't remember if I posted these here before (apologies if I did) - some pics from Tokyo. The store is amazing, a real test of willpower in not buying everything in sight!

One of the best parts about the store can't be bought though - it's sitting right in the entrance.

    Any guesses? :)
