    Update

A major apology to everyone who's been diligently keeping up with the thread. A double major apology to beats for going M.I.A. As you all know (or may have heard), I left San Francisco and moved back to New York about two months ago; things have been increasing difficult for me and I have been neglecting a lot of my online life to try and handle offline things. Also, I've been going through a lot of personal stress with the general scope of a big move and have been spending most of my days going through a game plan for finding work and continuing my photography.

Personal issues aside, I've still been wearing these jeans every day. It's hard to capture the light properly for contrast, but the flat light gives a better idea of the jeans 80% accuracy; the other 20% would probably be in direct light where the color shifts and the indigo contrast gets a significant bump.

Anyway, thanks for keeping tabs on this and sorry again! :(

  2. I only said Dumont Burger because it's a little nostalgic for me — I lived on S 3rd and would spend many nights ordering a Dumont burger or mac 'n' cheese over the phone when I was feeling like a glutton.

Also the cote de beouf makes the most insane leftover steak sandwich, ever

Cote de boeuf > black label burger

I'd just rather spend the extra boner jams on a steak for two than have dry-aged steak butchered for a burger.

  3. Ayo Bay Area beer drinkers, I'll be putting on a meet the brewer night for the the brewery I work for, Mad River, at Beer Revolution in Oakland 8-18-10. Stop by and try the epic beers we bring and kick it.

Also, Toronado's 23rd anniversary party is 8-14-10, I'll be there and am bringing some crazy beers for that too.

    PM me for details!

    I'm there.

San Francisco saved my life from a life of agriculturally driven mediocrity.

Does anyone know of any good noodle places located in or relatively close to downtown?

SO on Bryant and 8th. Not traditional noodles, but super delicious and huge servings. Best pot stickers and hot wings in town. Ramen joints are kinda hard to come by in SF, though.

  4. I've heard from various polaroid enthusiasts that The Impossible Project film is just utterly subpar.

In other news, my Mamiya 7's film advance lever is driving me insane. If I cock it like a regular 35mm, it won't fully catch, and the frame meter won't register the full crank; it'll take two cranks and then the gaps between exposure ends up being so large I lose a frame or two at the end of the roll. The new solution is a very slow advance. Kind of a bummer.

  5. once again, to the early adopters, apple is about to give you a big…

Way overblown. The service for me has been the same or better; areas that are prone to drop calls are still dropping from time to time, while other places are actually getting reception when it was impossible to even get Edge.

It's mildly entertaining watching the pissing match between Apple and all the people who don't actually own the product.

And it's a moot point anyway; you can return the phone for your money back if you really drop all of your calls because of the attenuation.

  6. also blogspot sucks. Use wordpress if you want to be all those features.

Runnin' a blogspot is kind of like applying for a job with an aol email address. (Though, I will say landho has a pretty good blogspot.)

  7. I think this will be a good contrast (ha, contrast) to see how our washing process affects the wear patterns on these jeans. I'm using plain detergent and a delicate cold wash cycle with my washer and then air drying them until they're slightly damp (but dry enough to wear).

i cant believe i just watched 1 min of a video of some dude taking pictures of a pair of jeans

    Behind the scenes footage!

  8. Instead of finding the same shit posted in various blogs and collegehumor websites, I get the same shit posted in one streamlined dashboard.

It's hard to maintain a large group of people to follow if the content is all the same, so I appreciate articles, text, or anything that deviates from the circle-jerking reblog system that Tumblr implements.

  9. For whatever it's worth, I would normally have washed my jeans at least twice by this point, but a more sedentary lifestyle means less intense sessions of sweating and stretching. It will probably receive two more washes before September.

    /bowdown

cant wait till mine starts showing some blue.

btw if you dont mind me asking..

    what lenses?

and.... what settings are you shooting at?

    I shoot primarily with a 35mm f/1.4 L.

I'm a fan of aperture priority, unless I use strobes -- then I shoot manual.

  10. that's too bad, i've been trying to calculate how much a plan would be and it's coming out to be about 95 bucks a month, sound right?

also, since at&t has this tiered data system now, is 2gb enough for most of you guys? i feel like i'd be cutting it close every month

You're 20 so I assume you go to college or school of some kind. Plug in your (edu) email address into AT&T's premier section after you get your phone and you can get a discount on your monthly voice plan.

I use about 175 - 200 MB a month and on occasion I creep up to 250 MB.

  11. now tell me Apple didn't know this was possible and just came up with it.

I like apple products as much as the next person, but they string people along with new features (old technology) in products that should have been there in the first place.

Clearly there is a division between Android and iPhone users — they value different things. Apple doesn't seem to be interested in making their phone more Android like any time in the near future. They're content on creating improvements to their current iOS to make it feel better when held, have a better screen, or even just improved battery life.

As far as new features with old technology, a lot of Apple's approach as been to implement the features in a way that fits in with the OS feel and fluidity. If it hasn't been done right yet, they've opted to wait until they could figure it out. Should it have been there in the first place? Yes. It's just a difference in approach.

Oh, and the commercials are exactly what they are; they convey an emotional point of view and hammer home the implementation of a feature they're introducing in their phone. Chances are it's going to be more effective at getting people to jump on mobile video chatting than any previous implementation of it (by virtue of Apple's reach in exposure / advertising / hype / and maybe a little bit due to the implementation or ease of use for video calling).
