    John Lofgren Champion Sneakers

There’s two things we’ll go to Sendai for: Beef tongue and John Lofgren footwear.

Out of all the made-in-Japan sneakers, John Lofgren’s Champion Sneakers are what you’ll find on our feet. Every component is made in Japan, from the rubber soles to the canvas uppers.

John has a relentless focus on comfort and quality, and it shows as soon as you put these on. The extra weight is from all the extra rubber in the outsoles, and the comfort is from the double-insole. All of the details have been elevated: heavy-duty eyelets, taped seams, and double-stitched stress-points.

In this latest batch, he produced natural herringbone twillkakishibu denim, and sugar cane denim versions, all on black soles.

We loved these so much that we cleaned out his entire inventory - when they're gone, they're gone.

  3. A lot of our customers have told us how much they love our recent e-mails (earlier this week we sent a mid 1990s Geocities nostalgia themed e-mail) - so we've decided to let people opt-in to receive more ASCII e-mails, instead of our usual photography-heavy ones.

  5. A little update from Dolores Park in SF, where I've been on a work trip for the past week.

Went by Standard & Strange to give these jeans a brief homecoming and finally check the shop out. Spencer and Brandon were great, got to geek out about fabrics and do some damage to my bank account. I've got yet another pair of Ooe's now, salted away for a rainy day...

I'm bummed I missed you - thanks for stopping in.

Did you try on the Tender jeans in the same denim as that jacket you picked up? They're so good.

  6.

With over 100 years of experience under their belt, and still family-owned, Schott knows how to cut and sew a fine leather jacket. We're excited to launch their collection in our online shop with two standout pieces: the Cafecto in black steerhide, and the Cafe Racer in black horsehide

Both of these are pretty awesome jackets - the horsehide cafe racer looks phenomal on, and the Cafecto is just right. I love the Perfecto asym, but it's hard to wear, and the Cafecto removes just enough of the extra details to make it just right!

    S&S X TRUMAN BOOT CO.

We are kicking off our partnership with Truman Boot Company with two exclusive makeups. Both are built in Boulder, Colorado at Truman's factory.

Truman uses a modified double stitchdown construction, based on the way logging boots are built in the Pacific Northwest. This time-tested method leads to durable, long-lasting boots that only get better and better with age.

The first make-up is in Amaretto horse rump with the toe cap and heel counter flipped and waxed to expose the inner beauty of this leather. This sits on a natural leather midsole and a black Dainite outsole.

For the second make-up, we flipped Truman's Iceberg Kudu inside out for a rough-out plain-toe boot, also sitting on a natural midsole and black Dainite outsole.

Both make-ups are available for pre-order now. If you have any questions on sizing, fit, or details, don't hesitate to reach out to us via email or our contact form.

Orders close on November 14th, 2016, and we're limited to 12 pairs of each leather for this initial run.

SAVE THE DATE: Truman Trunk Show

    November 12th, 2016

Vince Romano, the founder of Truman, and his crew will be at our shop from 11am til 7pm on Saturday, November 12th to talk footwear, manufacturing, and, of course, help you get fitted for your next pair. Come join us for an evening and meet the folks who make each and every pair of Truman boots.

  8. Indigofera Fall-Winter 2016

Known for heavyweight flannels, great-fitting denim, and a strong Western vibe, Sweden's Indigofera has released their strongest fall line-up yet. To give you a good look at this collection, we shot a lookbook of the new styles out on the salt marshes in San Francisco Bay.

This fall sees the return of several of our favorite items from in new fabrics. The stalwart selvedge flannel Norris is back in a new indigo/brown colorway, and the Fargo shows up in a new heavyweight green selvedge twill.

In the western shirt department, the Dollard shows up in four styles -heavyweight black canvastwo tone red twillindigo selvedge chambray, and abeige check lightweight flannel.

For the skinnier guys out there, we have the new grey/black Walton flannel and the Copeland overshirt in Gunpowder black selvedge denim. Both of these pieces are in a new slimmer cut that Indigofera developed on our request.

Downstairs, the high-rise slim tapered Buck returns in the Gunpowder black selvedge denim, and we've brought in the slim-straight Ray in the same denimto round out our selection of fits.

Check out the Indigofera FW16 lookbook here.

  9. I have just one of these special t's made by m&o mfg (Ooe working with Mr. Matsuoka) left over from Denim Bruin. It's a size 40 - roughly a medium with a 39" chest

    $120 SOLD.

  10. Is there any chance you might be able to add a photo of them directly against a dark denim finish (OA or otherwise)? It's difficult to see the contrast in the photo of the 125 year vs new finish shown further up this page, and I'm curious to see how noticeable the greencast is in the 50 year finish.

I too need another pair of jeans like I need another hole in my head, but my older pair of OA02XX are probably my favorite jeans out of everything I've worn. The possibility of a pair with a leather patch and slightly lighter/greener cast is very very tempting.

It's actually quite hard to get an accurate photo of this - we're working on it!

  11. THE NEW OA X S&S HAVE ARRIVED!

Ooe Yofukuten is the most special brand we sell - every pair made start to finish by Ryo and Hiro. Their OA02 fit remains our favorite fit of denim, and for this release we went with their new patent-pending Time Machine treatment which ages the denim to resemble deadstock. The base denim is the same OAXX as the last release, but with 50 years of aging on them, to honor the era that the 02 fit derives from. The treatment gives a dryer hand and a greener cast, and truly looks like a pair that was found in the backroom of a defunct menswear shop from the 1960s.

The longer inseam and deeper pockets carry over from the last release as well, and we're doing free chainstitch hems with every pair.

Check the size chart carefully. They do stretch to actual tag size with wear - my 35's measure 35, my 36's 36, and Neil's 34, measure an actual 34.

  12. We dropped the back pocket lining for these.

Just wash 'em frequently and they'll get there!  ^_^

The 50 year time machine treatment looks sweet, do these also have the back pocket lining that the other S&S models have?

Really, really don't need another pair of jeans. But if they stick around for awhile I'll snag a pair.

  13. I'm about a 36 waist and I have two pairs in the 02 fit, both are size 38.

General rule of thumb with Ooe jeans are to go two inches above your normal waist size.

Can't give you an exact on the 50 year finish since I don't have those (yet) but I'm guessing this will still be the case.

That's accurate - I'm guessing if you lay out your pairs of 36 and measure them, they'll all be 19" across laid flat.

The 50 year treatment won't impact the stretch of the denim, as far as we can tell from playing around with it.
