@mrsmiff ha! came hear to see if i could glean the differences between the OAXX2 and XX3 denims. sounds like they’re pretty similar! which is great, because i think that OAXX2 was pretty special. any other details about how the new and prior differ?

There's not a substantial difference between the two - XX3 is a replica of XX2 with new yarns, as the yarn maker that produced the yarns for XX2 burned down, and OA had to start over again to match it. There is a slight change in the color of the weft, however.

  2. The latest batch of OA02XX just landed. We went raw this time, no rinse. They're cut from the new OAXX3 denim OA had made up, which is very similar to the OAXX2 - we had cuts from all 3 generations of their denim sitting on the table at their house. From the first to the second is super obvious, but from second to third - even Ryo had a hard time picking it out.

Do ooe provide more options for the inseam length, since 33.9 inches is too short for me.

Whenever we do a run with them, we do a 36" post-soak inseam. We just met with them at their workshop again, lots of good stuff coming down the pike in the next year!

Would it be too much to expect a size 38 to stretch back out to a 38? My wash/dry routine is pretty frequent and without care, I worry they'd stay tight after a while

I think they'll be ok. My 36 are up to about a 37 now.

These measurements seem insane to me! Has the cut been modified? My OA02 from a year or so ago in a 35 don't measure close to any of those measurements. I know its a different denim but still...

The measurements are post-wash, and it's the same cut. My experience with all 4 pairs of OA I own has been the same - the waist will return to raw measurements after wearing.

With my personal size 36 Golden Gate 01's, I could barely close them raw, and after a hot soak, it took me about 15 minutes to get them buttoned up again. Now they're perfect.

I haven’t picked up the new OA fabric yet, but might in the future if I see them made in the 01 cut. Looking forward to whatever the S&S guys have in store, I know one of you (Neil or Jeremy) mentioned you were going to try to convince them to make some fatigue pants in reverse sateen. That would be sweet!

Fatigues - That's a little ways down the line, we've got a couple of other secret projects in front of those.

The new OAXX in 01 cut - we're going to order in a run of those shortly. I've been really enjoying the '01, it's really just-right.

Superdenim got in Real McCoys suka jacket: https://www.superdenim.com/uk/catalog/product/view/id/16471/s/suka-jacket-swallow/category/7/

Already sold out of 2 sizes, but it is one awesome looking jacket with a price to match!

I think he was referencing the dedicated RMC store that shut down awhile ago.

    That souviner jacket is beautiful.

We picked that up too, it'll be online shortly, or if you're hot to trot, let me know!

they great on @sanforizedson's pics! I may need to get my inhibitions about the close spaced belt loops...

My take on those - as the guy who decided to use them: I had the same reservations about the spacing, but I really liked the '40s aesthetic about the wide loops centered. I just wear my belt off-center to deal with it.

I think with Ooe being a repro brand, they simply took it from the vintage Levi's 501 examples.

    Yes, 1946 pair.

@Broark HA! that is hysterical. i know what you mean. ugh, but these are pretty great. very similar to the OA01, but with some intriguing details inspired by a pair of late 40’s 501’s that will probably be interesting to the hardcore types! i’ll defer to the guys at S&S on describing those. plus, these are made from a special run of heavyweight, gray weft denim similar to but a bit different from the DB01. i’m really excited about them!

The other two details that I'm really into - the mismatched side stitches. One side is lock stitch, one side is chain stitch. Production error on the vintage pair we were looking at, and we decided to run with it. The coin pocket is non-selvedge because we cut it on the bias, vintage-style. It creates really interesting fades that way.

  9. The Saddle Pant has been a huge success - so much so that we're starting to run low already. We had OA make up enough for "6 months" but at this rate, it's going to be 6 days. We're not going to be able to restock until next year, either, which is a bummer.

All that to say - if you're on the fence, and have questions about fit or anything whatsoever, please hit me up. I don't want anyone left out who wants in on these.

Got mine today! So happy to finally get a pair of Ooe :D

The denim is lovely - soft and feels so nice. 'vintagey' was first word to spring to mind. Completely different to any denim I own.

Basing them after the Roebucks Riders with the detailing makes for such a distinct and unique pair of jeans. I need to stretch the waist but apart from that, the slim tapered fit is great, slight bit of room to not make it feel tight. Even though I had to really hold my stomach in to get top button done, it doesn't feel uncomfortable. I think it will be stretched out within a day or two to be honest.

Got the saddle pants today, managed to button all the buttons right away while holding my stomach in. The washed denim feels so soft compared to some others I have. Thanks Neil and Jeremy for your help!

Bought the saddle pants and they arrived yesterday.  Not even two full days of wear, and these are now my favorite fitting pair of jeans.  The combination of the very forgiving denim, which stretches out just the right amount in all of the right places, and the not-too-slim but still slim cut, make for jeans that are both comfortable and flattering.  If you sometimes go for the "straight tapered" or "weightlifter" cut, don't be afraid of these.

I sized up one from my usual at Jeremy's suggestion and I think that was the right call.  TTS would have worked, too, but would have probably been a bit too restrictive.

(This is my first time posting after a few years of lurking, btw.  Hi.)

Also got my Saddle Pants, pleasantly surprised that they are not as tapered as I thought they would be.
I honestly had forgotten how much I like the texture and feel of the OA denim when it's new, my OA02XX's feel entirely different after a couple years now.
Crappy fit pics, but you get the idea. I like the pocket detailing, takes a little getting used to though.

I'm stoked that you all enjoy them, and that we got the fit right for all of you. Once again the OAXX fabric comes through for us.

FYI - if you're after the DB01, there's only 2 pair left. One 34, one 35. These will also stretch to tag size.

Saddle Pants arrived today! Pretty pumped about these, the fabric is great and I'm really liking the fit, slim but not too slim and I love the pockets. Haven't got the top button done up yet but I'm guessing they'll stretch out by the end of the day.

You are right - should be able to get that top button done up soon enough. Took me a few hours. Otherwise, looking good!

Got a pair of Saddle Pants on the way, was hoping the DB01 would stick around too but sounds like there will be more pants on the way in the future.

    I hope you love them!
