  1. A Macbook will handle Photoshop just fine unless you're doing some hardcore work with gigantic images. Either way, you'll want plenty of RAM... you'd be better off spending money first on maxing out your RAM before spending money on extra processor power when you're throwing around big images.

If you ever want to use AV programs like Final Cut, Logic or Pro Tools then you really, really need a Macbook Pro though, as they make lesser systems cry themselves to sleep.

Oh, and don't factor in the aluminium finish as a plus point. Take it from a Powerbook user that it's about as durable as... something that isn't very durable. It even slowly wears off at points of contact when the screen is closed.

  2. When I said 'over' I meant instead of, sorry.

I'm sure a lot of people would classify myself as a 'hipster', but I'd like to distinguish myself from the group by pointing out that a) I'm actually a music student who plays in bands, rather than pretending to be in a band and studying philosophy, and B) you're never going to catch me in girl jeans and a cardigan from a charity shop.

I definitely don't hate the group as a whole, in fact I'm friends with a lot... I was just having a bit of a dig at the idiots who enter university every year and go through a radical and entirely pretentious image change to mask the fact that they're actually boring rich kids whose parents live in a nice house in Clapham or Shepherd's Bush.

  3. why so much hate on anything that's not raw and/or dry? Although AE/hollister is infact garbage.

Hollister is a million times worse than it's parent line A&F. A&F at least now do darker washes, straight legs and relatively minimal distressing (unless you want the destroyed lines, that is), wheras Hollister have produced some seriously stupid pieces, with 6 inches of distress zigzagging right down both legs and apparently 5 bottles of orange dye poured liberally on top.

  4. I forgot to mention that it's definitely cheaper for me to pick up a pair of Cheap Monday than Gap jeans, but that's just us Brits getting screwed again.

Anyhow, my main beef with Gap is their sizing... just like many other American companies, they assume that to have a 26/28 inch waist you have to be SHORT. Gap only stock a 28/30 in their Morrison selvage, and American Eagle do make a points of stocking a 26 inch waist, but only in a presumably boy's 28 inch leg. Most British high street retailers at least stock (usually a singular) 28/32 in each line of jeans they supply.

On the other hand, Cheap Monday will happily provide me with a 26 inch waist pair of jeans in a 32 or 34 inch inseam, or even down to a 25 if I wanted the stretch jeans not to sag round my thighs. Only other companies who do similar sizing in this field that I've found thus far are Skull and Ande Whall.

  5. er, no. I don't know much about cars, but I believe Mercedes cars are well-made, no?

B&O is the Bape of electronics: all hype, all bling, no quality. They're not as outrageously overpriced or falsely marketed as Bose, but they're still absolutely awful for the outrageous price they charge. If you want actual quality audio electronics instead of shiny status pieces that will impress those with tons of money and no taste, stay away from B&O.

It's kind of fitting, because whilst Geman engineering is probably the best in the world for build quality, for electrical reliability they're some of the worst, particularly in comparison to their Japanese rivals, who completely dominate reliability rankings.

  6. sorry... i have my girls pay for me. if not all the time its at least 50/50. if they want me to pay for them, they can find someone else.

That's clearly wasting 50 women in 100 when a shovel to the head and a swift robbery would have sufficed.

  7. Well, the GAP, for one. GAP jeans actually have decent construction, especially for the price (their volume drives production costs way down - capital costs are essentially nil compared to most brands.)

You're having a laugh. I've never known anyone I've lived with not to trash their Gap jeans, particularly the crotch, within a few months. One of my best friends eats Gap jeans just by kneeling down playing on his PS2 and putting his glasses case in his back pocket.

  8. These aren't anything special..small "e", approx early 80's. Supersoft and great color!

Heh, exactly the same fly distress as on my battered 80s redlines. Mine are getting a grey overdye though... can't stand the pale blue 'dad jeans' look. Yours have gone right out the other side into mega fade which is purdy.
