  1. Put my vivalo up on craigslist.. hope I don't regret it, my other bike is more fun, and an NJS frame as a backup seems like a... waste.

Seattle craigslist- or pm me if anyone wants a 57.5cm njs shit.

    Now to find a replacement..

  2. I just used a butane lighter. Cheap 1$ shit. The kind that has the not normal flame... if that makes sense.

They recommended a heat gun (I bought mine at carnival too) but the lighter worked fine. used them for ~4 months without slippage. only time they got fucked up is removing my bars, and now they're shot to shit.

  3. if you ever are at a loss for what to do in japan, the city has amazingly organized these spots all throughout some of the most popular areas that offer free consultation on where to go and what to do.

look for big glowing (to fit in to the surroundings) signs that say

    無料案内所

The characters just mean free guide center, more or less.

It's amazing! Tons of cute girls who will consult with you about your trip. When you go in, pick a cute girl, and make sure they understand that both you and your dad want to do the consultation with her together. Also, if you tell them you want the 'nama' service (means draft beer), they serve you beer as well, for a small fee of course.

Have fun! I've found some of my favorite spots in Japan through these places. Best kept secret in tokyo!

  4. I have those.

Yeah, you could probably fit them over taped bars, but... I don't see the point. They aren't overly padded, but provide good grip. My recommendation if you want a bit more padding would be to just double up on it. I think I've seen them tripled up before too.

Though, if you really want more padding I'd say just find something else.

  5. my go fast bike has a brake, because, well, when i'm going fast i like having some for of 'oh fuck' insurance.

my have fun bike does not have a brake.

It's a different experience with or without a brake. I agree with a lot of things about both schools of thought, so, yeah.

  6. looks like a very sweet ride, so!

fun as shit but the toe overlap is HECTIC. worse than the vivalo, close to pedal overlap. So I gotta get used to paying even more attention going slow.

  7. Finally got my bars cut down and got grips on them.

    Polish pursuit frame

    Grand Compe wheelset

sugino75 cranks to dura ace chainring

    EAI cog (gooold track nuts)

mks pedals w/ mtb clips and 2 straps

    fake saddle w/ gifted seatpost

    bianchi stem bought used

Carbon fork, suprisingly solid and not flexy though. Keo was riding this around for a bit the other day at a party and he commented on it being solid too.

Still, a carbon fork makes me kinda nervous.

Gotta lower the seat a bit too.

  8. I have no intention of turning my bike into a glorified BMX. Riding fast is still my number on thing, but for days when you just end up at the park with some drinks, it's fun to be able to mess around a bit.

  9. Two things.

I need some part recommendations. Need a black crankset, square taper. Considering some BMX cranks maybe, or another set of 75's, only in black, but I'd rather keep the cost down to below 100 if possible. Cranks are the only thing left to having my new frame completely murdered out. I also need a new wheelset for my Blue sparkle vivalo. My dream set would be araya super aero's with a silver high flange hub.

Part two. Buying my 2nd frame has made me more interested in learning tricks and shit since I don't have to worry about fucking up the bike as much. Is there any good resource for this? I can somewhat wheely, but very shittily and not at speed. Suggestions?

  10. Riding lately has been so much fun. A friend I met a few years back is one of the 'fast friday' kids and hangs out with them and a good portion of seattles 'scene', and I've been joining them riding around and shit lately.

Big difference from spending the last year riding 95% by myself. Makes riding so much more fun.

Speaking of bombing hills, 4 am on friday night after a few parties, we head from Capitol Hill to the U district. Cap hill is, as you could expect, a hill. And being no cars out at 4 am we fucking bombed the shit out of this moderately steep hill that takes us about a mile and a half to the bottom.

Part way there's one of those big 'show your speed' setup shits, which is of course incentive to just let loose.

So yeah, 4 am 40mph post-party hill bombing is the shit.

but hamburglar, the fact that you're taking decent photos on a bike on that steep of a hill blows my mind.

  11. this thread has gone full loop maybe 3 times in the last few pages.

Corter, you're going to love the gran compe hubs, they're fan-fucking-tastic. Also, to anyone who has it as an option, don't hesitate on picking up the gran compe wheels as well. They've taken a beating and are still going on strong. (not to mention that they now come in purple, gold, white, black, bronze-ish, and blue-ish -depending on where you buy from.

On that note, to anyone who wants some deep-v action without being a 'poser', get aeroheads. Less outrageous than deep v's, but still aero, and same colors available.

or wait... do I mean fusions? whatever.

I really want an araya super aero though..

  12. How much did you end up paying for the polish frameset?

    $350

The wheelbase is so fucking short it's crazy. Plus side is it should be helpful for seattle hills.

Also, it's a fucking wheelie machine. Took it for a really short spin today (chain too long = track nuts barely in the dropouts=scary), and it's a fucking wheelie monster. I could never hold wheelies on my Vivalo, but this bike is kind of like 'pull up lightly, lean back a bit, and ride the fuck out of it'.

That broakland bike looks badass. Main diference being oversized/curved tubing, and mine is pursuit geometry.

  13. Bought this fucking crazy polish prototype bike from a german friend.

    img0121oe3.jpg

(was doing maintanence on the BB on the Vivalo, hence it being apart. Took the opporotunity to see the new frame with wheels)

I'm gonna murder it out. Gonna keep those wheels on it, possibly buy some FSA Vigorelli cranks/ring from a friend, and black bars.

Picked up a miche bottom bracket, and it's not fitting at all. He was saying something about the BB, but I didn't entirely hear him, I'm gonna have to take that shit to a shop to get figured out.

  14. Cost of living is all about how you live. It can range from being cheaper than major us cities in certain aspects to being completely fucking rediculous, all according to your lifestyle. You could have a good night out for under 20$ if you try, or you could easily run up a few hundred dollars on just a night out with friends-not even big ticket kinda stuff.

  15. Been thinking about buying something a little chunkier in terms of footwear. I've been considering either saving up for the Buttero Work Boots, or just throwing down the cash for some Palladiums in stone.

    Opinions?

please don't buy these. I haven't seen them worn, but I can't see them working well with almost anything.
