Re: sizing...
so we have till saturday to decide...for reference...for people who got the black ones
those are the difference in measurements
I measure a 29" waist and am sizing down to a 27... they measure about 2 "s larger than tagged size, then after hot soak will shrink down to tagged size, from what I understand.. most people arent sizing down 2 though... I went out on a bit of a limb
Can't wait for beatle to come back with more news...

Just posted this in the S5000 thread, but might be useful posting here as well, a comparison between size 28 & 29 S5000BK:
All measurements taken raw, 29's first, 28's after:
Waist (circumference): 32 / 30.4
Inseam: 38.5 / 38.5
Outseam: 48 / 48
Front rise: 10.5 / 10.5
Rear rise: 14.1 / 14
Knee: 9.6 / 9
Hem: 8.4 / 8
Interesting that the waist has the biggest difference. I figured the 28 tagged would measure 31 raw. For those thinking of dropping 2 sizes you might not want to now.
This sorta helps, would love to know post soak measurements and how you soaked them etc...I'm still leaning towards sizing down 2 sizes

will pm you beatle as soon as I decide on size... still debating between 28 and 27... my rag&bones have stretched like crazy and they are tagged 28 but have yet to see any water whatsoever. anyone have any advice? As of now I'm thinking I should get the 27 (which from what I understand will measure more like 29, my actual waist size) hot soak them down to 27 (will be way tight) and then after a day or two of wear be closer to an actual 29.. which will fit me... what do you think?
*note I just read the entire thread on the 5000bk and I came to no conclusion as far as sizing up or down

I can't figure out what size I need... I'm contemplating between 27 and 28... my true waist size is approx 29, but in my rag&bones I bought a 28 which is way loose now and I have helmuts in a 28 which i couldnt button all the way for the first 20 min....reading the size chart and trying to figure out which will be best. Also I guess the rise needs to be considered... anyone can help? or what sizes are you all getting?

I fully plan on making liberal use of my sewing machine. I'm going to slim them up a lot through the thigh and give them a really slight bootcut like half way through my calf.
might check with beatle/samurai before you do anything like that, they might not want the integrity of their denim/fit tampered with. I wouldn't mind but if they are posting pics on their website of the jeans, people might begin to wonder why the fit is so different and so on...
edit: leaning towards 28, any suggestions?
edit: hm helmuts currently measure 72 in the waist, and they are snug... the size 28 according to the aforementioned chart measures 71-73 post soak? in which case they are going to stretch, in which case i would prefer a 27?

hey long time lurker here. thought id put up some new buys for your viewing pleasure.
FinalHome hoodie - there's a hood hidden within the first hood that unfolds through the zipper. cotton is really soft.
Maharishi M65 - pretty basic but nice details (asymmetrical epaulettes, yellow rivets, velcro patch for personalizing) and great fit.
Attachment cargos - awesome slim fit, wicked pocket flaps and strappy bits.
i like the hoody and the m65, whered you get them...
and nice julian reds apu

I was pulling for Ande Whalls but the guys over at Samurai seem to be awesome, this is really cool, and they're awarding the winner with a pair of jeans and a spot on their website, too cool. I am still in, for sure, sorry RB11's, you must wait. And those pics beattle are certainly motivating, I can not wait.

yeah skulls sound cool, 5010 6x6??
Although id be soooo tempted by some andewhalls, these are the only non japanese jeans i want at the mo, andy may be more flexible than other options too, and it would be cool to give a fellow SF'er business.

I would prefer selvage, button fly, japanese, and all that but I still think it would be cool to do the ande whall's. that said, I'm up for just about anything with a good slimish fit... skulls sound cool. maybe we should narrow it down to a few 4 or 5 pairs? and then after the sign up cut-off date do a poll for the nominees, everyone participating can vote, not sure how that would be regulated though

agreed, whall would be a good choice, and he would get some serious business. but does he offer selvedge?
I don't think he does, but I still think it's the best route to go, and the price would be reasonable (more that reasonable if we can get a participant discount)

this could probably be done on the black samauri's right now as everyone who got a pair got them within 2 weeks of each other.
blah, someone snatched the last pair in my size while I was replying to the email from the seller, who replied with " the last pair in that size was just sold, sorry"
would be a good denim to do though.
I think it would be cool to do andy whalls... he could cut them in any fit you want (works for keri) and could use the same denim for every pair he makes, and maybe he could do it for a bit of a discounted price to each participant considering it would probably be quite a large order and he would deffinately benefit from it.
A prize should deffinately be in order , votes cast here on the forum in a poll is a good idea as well.
Something like...
Sign up cut-off date 9/9 as beatle said, then if everyone/andy agrees...
orders for jeans put in by whatever date, andy makes and mails them out, as soon as everyone receives their pair there is a start date, and set finish date, and let the race begin...

This sounds cool, I'm in. I second sign up deadline. Need rules/guidelines and a specific denim etc.

RB11's might have to be put on hold if this gets rolling...

edit: and thank you chicken for the article/translation and for the inspiration

I'd like to see some pics too, they're over $300 though, I remember an associate telling me ... $380 maybe?

Colin, the nudies look nice, I'm shooting for 10 months on my RB11's... no particular reason, seems long enough but not too long and they've yet to start reaking (at just over 4 months) of anything so it shouldn't be a problem
although I'm dieing to see how they will turn out, no one here has posted worn rag&bones so I'm very curious

black/brown - I do it all the time
navy/black - I do less frequent, but works
just try and see what works, I have a friend who swears every time I do black/brown
"black and brown make a frown" he says...

I look at the helmuts back on pg 11 everyday... I can't stop looking at them, wish I had a pair, I have a pair of non-selvage classic denim helmuts that I want to start on but RB11's only have a little more than 4 months on them and now the samurai contest being first priority is pushing everything back...*sigh
