  2. Pizza Luce is ill.

I don't know what's good club-wise but for rock shows check the Triple Rock Social Club and First Ave/7th St. Entry. I think all the other spots I used to hit have closed.

Triple Rock is also good for breakfast but I think they're only open weekends.

  3. It kinda kills me to sell these but realistically they're never going to fit me and I need the money, so..

SOLD Acne Hex Cash, 27x34, new with tag SOOOOOOOLD

You probably know the deal, but if not, these things are beautiful: excellent slim cut, slightly coated, killer look. This pair is basically as new. I tried them on a couple times and kept hoping they'd fit but I can just barely do them up and they fit me like a denim wetsuit. The waist might have stretched a *tiny* bit, but I doubt it. Acne tags are gone (I don't think they were there when I bought them) but the tag from the store is still attached.

Here are the measurements, BIG style:

    waist - 27.5

    front rise - 8.75

    back rise - 12.75

    thigh - 20

    knee - 14

    hem - 12.75

    SOLD in record time!

  4. I am curious about the view on leather. Do some vegetarians feel like it's ok to use because it is a by product of beef consumption and would just go to waste otherwise (if it's not purely a by product, let me know, that'd be interesting), or will they become pariahs amongst their fellow vegetarians for using it? What if they owned a leather product before becoming vegetarian?

You're going to get different opinions from different people, depending on their reasons for being vegetarian. For people that aren't just animal rights-focused, there's the argument that leather makes more sense than a synthetic/petroleum-based alternative, likely shipped in from China (though obviously a lot of leather is too), destined to break down and be replaced a few times during the lifetime of a leather garment. There's something to be said for that.

  5. Yeah, basically never trust the pressing plant to do the mastering. It may be cheaper, but it's a total gamble that you may be paying more to fix. Use a dedicated mastering house for the cutting.

RTI does a lot of pressings for major labels and larger indies – heavy/fancy vinyl editions that look and sound great.

Europadisk in NYC pressed some of the nicest/heaviest records I've ever seen, all Direct Metal Master, but I just searched them and I guess they're closed. I think they were a go-to plant for loud/crisp house/hip hop 12"s back in the 90s, like all the old Strictly Rhythm 12"s were pressed there.

  6. Are you talking about lathes? From what I understand, this isn't really that cheap. A few of my friends with shitty 'noise' projects have done lathes through Peter King in Australia and it cost them quite a bit.

You pay a lot per piece (I think it's somewhere between $10-20 each), but it's still a lot cheaper than getting a conventional pressing plant to do very small quantities. Most plants simply won't do less than 250 records or so..

  7. Do vegans/veggies eat bread or drink beer? I don't know if yeast counts as an animal or whatever... (serious question, not trying to start shit) :)

I've known many, many vegans, and I was one for 6 years.. never known anyone that avoided yeast because it's a 'living' organism.
