thanks coldrice. emails are the best method to get in contact with me. i have enough orders that i occasionally lose track of things, so it helps to keep comminucation going at one place.

45rpm got a new jean in today. only 1 pair of each (1 distressed, 1 one-wash). Called BC4000 AI Indigo Vintage. Around 9.5ounce, left hand twill, organic handpicked Zimbabwaen denim, same dye process as Jomon, lower rise (4 button)...one wash cost $1160 and distressed are around $1300...can't remember exact price of distressed. The single one wash pair sold within a couple hour the distressed are still there. Sizing is weird and run extremelly large...the size 28 was around a 32.5". Full cut but not too relaxed. Very nice, very pricey.these maybe what i saw at badou-r the other day. were both warp and weft dyed?

I picked up a pair of rb15s back at a sale in LA earlier this month and was trying to find pics of how they fade considering how notoriously stubborn they are. I only know a few people on the other SF who own r&b to begin with and none of them have made any real progress.
i own several rb pairs, mostly concentrating on rb11 or rb1. my rb11 worn over a month have just started to have their colors seep inside at where the honeycombs are. rb1 isnt raw, much thinner and softer denim which i think is from their 2005ss or before. they have become streaky somewhat like rb6a, i might post some pictures when i get around to it.

wasnt a somet website, but it mentions around the middle of the page "As for this indigo, the color falling becomes extreme at 35 degrees". somet indigos are all natural

it was mentioning in ragrds to natural indigo. though at that temperature, which is more or less average human body temperature, i would guess synthetic dyes would come off a lot as well.
>coldrice
i think that was the price for one wash. you could probably imagine what they looked like(you've seen the nandos right?), its going to be a long time to get fades into those babies. i could make a call and confirm the price.

natural indigo is typically harder to get fades as they are dyed much closer to the core of the thread compared to most synthetic indigo dyes. i read somewhere(somet website?) that natural dyes tend to loose a lot of their color when they are washed with water above 37Celsius. some prefer warmer dip for naturals for more contrast.

sorry to throw this thread a little off-track, but I have one last question regarding the BR jackets. I noticed most of the flight jackets they offer have a very short back and an elasticized wool cuff around the waist... should I size up and have slightly baggier sleeves as a result to avoid this "pinching" effect on my silhouette? I've seen pictures of japanese store models wearing them, but they're wearing baggy jeans so it looks really, really weird with such a short jacket.
from what i have seen, these do run a bit short in length compared to the genuine military models. i would guess they have been stardarized for japanese build as you can see below, the regular is what basically most BR jacket would fit where long models are closer to the genuine ones
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/vari/br1118002/
this is the only model that feature the"long" versions, so you probably have to compromise like you mentioned. they do have a wide range of sizes up to XXL(about XL in the US).

i just went to badou-r in tokyo today to pick up a jomon, and the manager showed me a pair of another nandoXnando. it uses natural indigo for both warp and weft, a brand new cut which looked like lower rised jomons(didnt have time to try them on though). they had one-wash and distressed model. with only 30pairs made for each they costed around 100000yen, which is like $900.
here are some pictures i took with my phone camera in the store. washed-out model had a green hue to it, which was beautiful. sadly it doesnt show on these shots well..these were the best i could manage. close up shot for front area is closest to the real thing. one-wash models looked similar to synthetic dyed nandos, but with a much more rich and softer feel.

if you have some $$$ to blow off, visit badou R stores in aoyama. they stock some of the best offerings of 45RPM.
http://www.45rpm.jp/shop/cms/contents.aspx?contents=48&Language=English
im pretty sure they have a buzz rickson in june if you arent looking for a particulary small or large size. the weather during that period is heavy with rain, so be sure to take good care of it if you happen to get leather goods.

Red Ear is the English translation of the word for selvedge in Japanese, if that makes sense.
red selvedge are called 赤耳(read:akamimi) which means "red ear"in japanese. the phrase became widely known by the levis red selvedge.

a list of rakuten shops that stocks denim brands some SF'ers may like. these shops tend to have several brands brought up here, i have mainly grouped them together to brands that they have fairly good stocks of(10 or more pairs per brand). i also have a list of non-rakuten stores as well.

This service is on haitus at the moment. I will be out of Japan until March 23rd, and am not sure if I will be able to provide the service after April when I start full time work. I might still do it on a limited basis(those whom I worked with before/orders above certain amount....etc) so shoot me an email if you might be interested on this.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fee Lowered!
before:14%
now:12%!
I'm going to stop taking online orders on Feb 21st as I will be leaving Japan for roughly a month from Feb 27th. I can do store pick ups until 25th.
I'm not 100% decided on what to do with this after I get back as I will be starting full time job from April. I have the lowest fee at 12% at this moment, so let me know if you want something from here!
Service
I will take orders on practically anything: clothes, magazine, CD/DVD, video games, toys...etc. Although I'm limiting to online/phone sales for the most part, I could do a better search for stores that are outside of rakuten and such as I'm a genuine Japanese = may turn up some rare/cheap finds. I can also do yahoo auctions, I will also do on foot pick ups for orders over 30000yen retail.
How the service works
Send me a message at [email protected] with the title including the name and size of your item. DO NOT POST OR USE PM!!!!!!!!!!!. Please email me your orders with as much information as possible if you can, such as what shops sell the product, where it can be bought online etc. I will also need to know where the items should be sent to correctly give quotes on shipping. Once I track down the item I will get back to you with a quote, and place the order once the payment has been received.
Places where I buy from
- rakuten, yahoo auctions, zozo
- local boutiques(includes 45RPM)/books/electronics store
- websites of brands and boutiques
Payment&Fees
I can only take paypal at this moment. I can accept credit card payments as well! Fees are as follows
Paypal: 12%fee (8% for me, 4% for paypal)
(item cost + domestic shipping) X 1.12 + international shipping
The fees include my comission and that incurred for me to recieve the payment. Most orders from rakuten have free domestic shipping, and I don't charge bank transfer fees. I use EMS for outbound shipping which includes insurance and tracking. PLEASE SEND PAYMENTS IN YEN.
Rules
1. I will need to recieve the payment prior to ordering. For yahoo auctions I will ask you to send me the bid amount to me before placing the bid. I will send a refund if necesarry amd paypal will also send back their fees, so you will get a full refund.
2. I will not be resposible for any items that are lost while in transit.
3. Check the exchange rates at www.xe.com, but keep in mind that paypal takes 2.5% spread so the actual rate will be a bit lower.
4. Generally I can't accept returns once the item gets to you, as by the time it gets back to me it would be well over the return deadline for most stores. If you are unsure of the sizing, ask me prior to your orders or remind me to do some measurements once I recieve the item.
5. I usually check my emails during midnight here in Japan. So if you have auctions that are ending soon, let me know a day ahead and there is more of a chance we can work that out.
Thanks!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tips&Tricks
1. Some auctions are from registered boutiques on yahoo, and these will be elegible for 5% sales tax. There will be a little yellow box on the left side of the auction for those that are sold by these stores.
Regular auctions Auctions subject to tax
2. For orders from zozo, if you can copy the name of the item it will be better as they seem to have links every now and then. I wouldn’t want to get the wrong item to you.

i believe 2000db doesnt include paypal fees in the 10% he asks for. of the 15% comission i ask, 5% goes to fees for paypal usage and currency exchange, 10% goes to my pocket. i put it together since its so much easier to do calculations that way. i dont think we are far part from each other in terms of price.
