  1. chant is like an edward gorey character without the irony, except he doesn't quite make sense in the present day. he picks up new habits. i imagine him roaming an empty, lugubrious edwardian estate by candlelight, fondling the strings of his (unstrung) harp, maybe going to the stable to groom the horses.

then after, he lights some candles and incense and takes a bubble bath while listening to classical guitar music or maybe dead can dance. he packs shisha into a hookah. he orders embroidered pillows from a catalogue. after toweling off, he dresses and takes a fit pic.

    (too much?)

  2. the girl with the glasses is kind of thick but the manager kim (I think) is cool. they're nice though. I never ever see anything I like in there.

You don't like Engineered Garments, Band of Outsiders, Acne, or Robert Geller? Rachel Comey? Hyden Hoo? Hope? I can't afford to shop there much, but I love their stock.

And the girl with glasses seems ditzy, but she runs the LES gallery down on Powell and her boyfriend owns Superchampion (the track bike store). She's a player. She's also really sweet and interesting if you get to know her.

  3. Y'all know Gilt Group (www.gilt.com)? They do weekly designer sample sales, you can get stuff at pretty crazy prices. This week was Steven Alan, Tim Hamilton, and Hyden Hoo (which is still on). It's invite-only, but I've got a bunch of invites if anybody wants one. Pm me.

  4. Being a gothninja is the toughest job in the world. It's so easy to look good in photos you take with your macbook after smearing vaseline on the webcam lens, and yet, you're still a dork when you're holding hands with your dad. Doesn't matter how much Viridi-Ann you're wearing at that point.

    Chat Only.

I love this photo. Nice boots, btw. I need something like that.

  5. Dude, go to Commercial Drive. Stuff is still pretty cheap there and you can hop the 99 or the skytrain wherever. I used to live there, it was nice. Great grocery stores. Now I live on Main Street. Pretty brutal competition for places here, but still cheaper than downtown. I only pay $500/mo, though I share with another dude.

Jobwise, I'd be surprised if J&O or Roden Gray were hiring, but if you have restaurant experience, then you should totally capitalize on that. Retail sucks anyway. I have THREE retail jobs and I'm still poor as shit.

  6. I'm pretty confident you are a chump just by the number of bikini posters you have up on your wall. You still a virgin?

    accidentally plus-repped deemy. plz help.

baizilla's kind of saving this thread. it's depressing in here.

my terrible photography game is not helping matters.

    h&m toque

    apc shirt (no vis)

    geller cardigan

    ymc jacket

    new cures

    happy socks

    gotta clean my room.

  7. I bought these a few months ago, but since my health insurance hasn't kicked in yet, I haven't had prescription lenses put in them, so they're basically unworn, aside from trying them on around the house. They come in an RG case with a dust cloth and I still have the tags.

The deal is this: I just found out that a local shop still has the NDG-1 frames and I'm thinking of trading up. Pending an in-person comparison, is anyone interested in taking these off my hands for, say, SOOOOOOLD

Also, these will apparently not be in production next season. Or at least, not in this exact form. The new Geller frames are different.

    My pair looks like this:

I can take some pics of my actual pair later if anyone needs further convincing.

  8. @missblossom: you know, I don't love jeff wall, but that's a good reference. I'm sorry I bashed your shared room. i'm glad no one here can see what my room looked like when I had to share it with an antisocial chemistry student, back in the dorms of 1st year uni.

  9. wow. I'll reserve comment about your outfit and accessories, but I gotta say something about that winged, haloed alien poster on your wall. that thing is HEINOUS. I'm guessing from the appearance of your room that you're about 17, so you can be excused for a lot of things, but seriously -- take that thing down.

  10. Finally finished The Savage Detectives a few days ago. It was even better than I'd been led to believe.

    Reading this now:

I bought it as an xmas present for my little neice, but started reading it on the trip home and had to get another copy so I could finish it. It's so charming!
