Weird, White's 'red' lining looks more orangish to me.
Which Semi-dress last do you guys prefer? The original or the new swing last? I'm trying to decide for my next boot.

Hey guys,
I've been considering ordering a pair of White's Retro Oxford from Bakershoe. I know, it's really expensive compared regular White's boots but the thought of having a low-top White's shoe really appeals to me.
For the sole I want to go with the Vibram 269 rubber sole for all weather reliabliity.
One detail I can't seem to decide on is whether to go for the standard curved-in heel or the 90 degree block heel. Kyle from Bakershoe recommends the block heel. But to me, the block heel looks really chunky as the height of White's shoes are always higher than normal shoes.
However, I've never seen any pics of the Oxford shoe with the curved-in heel. I don't know if it'll look weird on a low-top shoe.
What do you guys think? Should I just take a risk and order the Standard heel and see how it turns out?
For reference, here's the link to the shoe:

I took brown dye around the edge of my indy's - makes them look a bit better too
What kinda dye did you guys use to dye the edge trim? I'm thinking of doing it to my White's but I don't know what to use.

Nice find ed, how much?

I can't figure why the oxford is so much more then the Semi-Dress. Were they the same price I'd already have a pair on order. Still....it is a damn cool shoe and almost worth the extra money....
I think the only reason they cost so much is that it's a bakeshoe exclusive model.
Other than the price, my other concern is that the block heel might look too huge for an oxford style. I'm wondering how it'll look with the standard curved heel

Yeah Gang, can we have more fit pics of your White's? Maybe some side profile pics.
On the subject of White's. Has anyone seen the Bakershoe Retro Oxfords in person? I'm wondering how they look in relation to Semi-Dress boots.

Where did you get those resoled? Japan? What was the cost?
I got them done here in Taiwan at a local shoe repair place. They are the authorized dealer for Vibram, so they can get any sole. Cost is approx $110 USD

Yup, horsehide. I love the way they age and wear irregularly.

I just resoled my Thorogood x Epaulet boots. What do you guys think? Does the heel look too small for the boot? Maybe I should have gone with Quabaug heel instead.

Is scotch-grained shell a more recent creation? I haven't seen it being offered on any other Aldens before...

Do you guys with White's use shoe trees in them? I have tried but they don't fit well with the strong arch in the White's boots so I typically don't even though I do use them in both of my Alden boots regularly.
I looked for suitable ones but couldn't find any. These are real work boots so I don't think shoe trees are necessary.

Quick shot of my White's SD on new last (Americana/Swing) that arrived a few days ago. I'm about to take them to Eddie's for a half sole. Expect more pictures then.
How do these compare with the regular Semi-dress?
Did you size them the same?
Can we see more pics from different angles??

It seems that all the British brogues use the thick commando soles. Maybe you can try changing them to the low profile commando sole that Aldens use.

Those boots look great! I wonder how they fit in relation to the Semi dress last? Now all they need is to have it available in shell cordovan!!!
jezus christ White's! Are you trying to grab all my lunch money!sorry for the rant but new Whites boots model (swing last - Americano) is available on bakershoe and it's looking very sexy
I never felt fully comfortable wearing my SD's because of the arched heel so this is the perfect alternative! Anyone interested in buying a pair of SD's in brown size 8C in perfect condition?

Why don't exchange for the same UK7.5, but with size 6 width?

Xolotl nice find and great price. They do look quite similar to the Conistons. The only difference I could spot are the different toe shapes and the pull tab.

Not bad looking, but $625 is too expensive for that type of boot!!

Signed. Where do I send ??

Thanks for the heads up on Take5 in Taipei!!
I'll go check it out next time when I'm back. It's really too bad they're overpriced though... I would've liked to have a store that I would actually buy stuff from, instead of just trying stuff on for size, then ordering it online.

I just picked up the Carhartt Roper pant selvage in brown.
The quality is pretty nice and its a perfect slim, but not tight fit.

How much are those RL Mocs?

Damn... how long ago was that? They did have some that were £110 or something, but they were the cheaper models to begin with.
Seems like all these brands are jacking up their prices. Lots of Tricker's were going for £150 too.

Very nice looking White's! Are those with the shortened toe caps, or is that standard size?
I'm thinking of doing one like that in a low top oxford from Bakershoe
