  1. Hey guys,

I've been considering ordering a pair of White's Retro Oxford from Bakershoe. I know, it's really expensive compared regular White's boots but the thought of having a low-top White's shoe really appeals to me.

For the sole I want to go with the Vibram 269 rubber sole for all weather reliabliity.

One detail I can't seem to decide on is whether to go for the standard curved-in heel or the 90 degree block heel. Kyle from Bakershoe recommends the block heel. But to me, the block heel looks really chunky as the height of White's shoes are always higher than normal shoes.

However, I've never seen any pics of the Oxford shoe with the curved-in heel. I don't know if it'll look weird on a low-top shoe.

What do you guys think? Should I just take a risk and order the Standard heel and see how it turns out?

For reference, here's the link to the shoe:

  2. my new whites semi dress brown chrome excel.

there is slight color difference in the upper to lower part of the boot. i pretty sure the happens with the chrome excel . anybody have experience with this?

Jacob, they look real nice. Can we see more pics of your boots? Thanks!

  3. I can't figure why the oxford is so much more then the Semi-Dress. Were they the same price I'd already have a pair on order. Still....it is a damn cool shoe and almost worth the extra money....

I think the only reason they cost so much is that it's a bakeshoe exclusive model.

Other than the price, my other concern is that the block heel might look too huge for an oxford style. I'm wondering how it'll look with the standard curved heel

  4. Do you guys with White's use shoe trees in them? I have tried but they don't fit well with the strong arch in the White's boots so I typically don't even though I do use them in both of my Alden boots regularly.

I looked for suitable ones but couldn't find any. These are real work boots so I don't think shoe trees are necessary.

  5. Quick shot of my White's SD on new last (Americana/Swing) that arrived a few days ago. I'm about to take them to Eddie's for a half sole. Expect more pictures then.

How do these compare with the regular Semi-dress?

Did you size them the same?

Can we see more pics from different angles??

  6. Those boots look great! I wonder how they fit in relation to the Semi dress last? Now all they need is to have it available in shell cordovan!!!

jezus christ White's! Are you trying to grab all my lunch money!

sorry for the rant but new Whites boots model (swing last - Americano) is available on bakershoe and it's looking very sexy

I never felt fully comfortable wearing my SD's because of the arched heel so this is the perfect alternative! Anyone interested in buying a pair of SD's in brown size 8C in perfect condition?

  7. Thanks for the heads up on Take5 in Taipei!!

I'll go check it out next time when I'm back. It's really too bad they're overpriced though... I would've liked to have a store that I would actually buy stuff from, instead of just trying stuff on for size, then ordering it online.
